Shula's 347 Grill - Roanoke Ratings and Reviews
We stayed at the adjoining hotel and went here for a quick dinner. The server was the most polite waiter we ever had but it was a good thing he didn’t have many tables to wait on. The parmesan risotto was great and the hamburger was ok. The drinks are nothing special so I had one of their “signature” drinks and it wasn’t worth a second for $11.
A steakhouse without Steak? That’s what I found at Shula’s at 7 PM on a Thursday evening. The waiter did not have a good explanation and without the steak there were very few entrees left on the menu. I decided to order 2 appetizers and a side. The crab cake had quite a bit of filler but the Ahi tuna was good. The service was close to non-existent. This used to e a good place to eat but I would not recommend it unless recent reviews are great.
Shula’s was a nice but over priced steakhouse. We also had a very nice wine with a big pour at $12.00 a glass. Our biggest complaint was that it was nearly impossible to find. We were traveling and not familiar with the area. Nothing we read about it mentioned that it was in the Sheraton Hotel or that the street address was misleading, as it’s actually on a service road off the street. When we called for help, we were put on hold and then forgotten. Once we found it, sat down, and calmed down, it was a fine but expensive dinner.
The food was excellent. However, we asked for bread 3 times and never received. Also, very pricey for what you get. For the price, the tables should have white table cloths and the service should be outstanding. We were not impressed with the service at all.
We went for Fathers Day brunch ... seeking a location near our son.
The hostess, waitress and bar tender were the same person. She was FANTASTIC but the facility was under staffed!! We went in and had the place to ourselves for the first 30 minutes. Ordered our meals but the preparation seemed to take a really long time - (We questioned if was there was a cook in the back?). When the food finally arrived, the shrimp an grits were cold (2 orders with hot toppings dumped on top of cold grits) and the other entrees (2 orders of Chicken and Waffles) were not properly prepared (waffles were cold, chicken didn't have any sauce on it per the menu).
The waitress was all over our concerned, offered free appetizer while we waited (which we declined) and replaced our meals. She made the day enjoyable. I can't say we will return.
This visit was not up to the usual standards. It took quite a while for our server to get our drinks from the bar. Then once we ordered our dinner it took over 30 minutes for us to be served. This is not a place to go if you are planning dinner before going to a show.
Swordfish perfectly plated and cooked. Both sides: green beans and mashed potatoes were cold. Our waitress absented herself for a lengthy time, but another waitress removed my plate to return to kitchen. By the time my meal returned, I was eating alone, as my wife had finished. The other waitress came back to check on me, but our initial waitress only came back to deliver bill. I tipped 20%, and was told the manger was on the way. That never occurred. I did receive a call from the manger the next day, with no offer to make right only a "we hope you give us another try". Not likely any time soon. We've frequented Shulas many times with stellar reviews, this time was an indication they are slipping. Not worth a $100 plus bill for sure.
I'm not sure what Shula's 347 is trying to be. Pricing would suggest moderately upscale, but the TV's in the main dining area suggest casual/sports bar. I will spend over $100 at Shula's for two people, I don't want TV's on while I eat. I get it that Don Shula was a successful coach, but . . .
Our waitress was extremely nice and went out her way o ensure that we had the best time there. The food was AMAZING! I will definitely recommend to my family and friends. Keep up the good work, its hard to come across a restaurant that has both great customer service and food.
If I ever want to impress a date, this is where I go. Shulas has always been spectacular and the service this time was spot on. Our servers name was Zaine and he took care of me and my date with excellence. Was always there whenever we needed him. In fact he was so good, I doubled my bill for his tip. Its service like his that brings me back for another round. He was well deserving.
My husband and I went out for a early Valentines Day dinner. We sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks before going to eat. The bar staff was really friendly. They weren't busy so we decided to sit and eat before our reservation time. Our waiter was really nice, the food was just average which I was expecting more for the price. My husband got the chicken and it was juice but didn't have much flavor to it. I got the scallops and risotto, it wasn't bad but not the best I have ever had. Maybe we should have gotten the steaks since that is what it is known for. The experience wasn't terrible but just average.
Steaks over cooked - ordered medium rare but was served well done. Took 2 hours to dine. Service was courteous. Not the only customers to have problems with service and food. Several other tables around us slow service and food prep problems. The problem appeared to be with the kitchen.
We go for the steaks. They are wonderful. So tender and flavorful. My husband had surf and turf with grilled asparagus that looked like tree branches. It was very tender and had a great flavor. Our server was so personable and a treat to chat with. We love this restaurant for special occasions and will definitely go back.
Wait staff Miss Lee was wonderful and other wait staff tended to our needs. You never had to wait for drinks or food. Everything came to the table nicely. Enjoyable and delicious. Cocktails were amazing. Appetizers and food presentation was beautiful. Can't wait to visit again soon.
What really stands out about Shula's is the staff. Everyone who had any contact with us: hosts, waiters, bus staff; and even bartenders and other servers we simply passed on our way in or out, was extremely welcoming and genuinely seemed happy we were there. We were there on Christmas day. There were no specifically holiday items on the menu, but the it was adequate and the food well prepared.
We made a reservation on open table for a Friday evening. When we got there, there were only a handful of people in the restaurant. Ordered a glass of wine but truly felt uncomfortable with so few people so paid for our wine and left to find someplace more lively with a more diverse menu. Very disappointing experience
Been here many times, very good but expensive if you drink alcohol. This time we waited for an extended period before anyone took our drink order or even acknowledged our party of 4. We almost got up and left. Going to give them another chance with a party of 7 in a few days. Hopefully it will be better.
