Shula's 347 Grill - Hotel Duval Tallahassee Ratings and Reviews
Great food and everything as always, but for a sports theme type of place ("Shula's") the TV playing sports is so small and mounted over a door way, that it was odd to try and get a sports feel. Does not need to be a sportbar, but if you ever go, you'll see that the one TV is oddly small and placed.
Shula's was well worth the trip, the steaks were tende and full of flavor. The service was top notch, our waiter was very attentive to our needs and made sure we had everything we needed. I would recommend Shula's to anyone celebrating an anniversary, special occasion, or wanting a good steak.
We went to celebrate our anniversary and wanted someplace special. We'd never been there before but saw the menu online and were impressed. The actual dining experience exceeded our expectations, from the very efficient and helpful valets to our fantastic waiter Jeremiah/Joe! The food was great and we could even hear each other talk without shouting...great atmosphere for a romantic date or business gathering.
We were not extremely hungry so we did not order salad or appetizers, just a meal. However, I was surprised not to be served at least bread before the meal. Most steak houses serve a little something before the meal that you don't have to order ala carte. We just sat there and waited for our meals with nothing. For the price of the meals, you should at least get a small loaf of bread! I will not recommend nor go back to this restaurant.
Our waiter Roy was sarcastic, we ordered 4 lobster tails but only 2 where left, instead of politely apologizing for the inconvenience he said he had good news and bad news, what was the good news? Also, the 2 lobster tails we did get were overly seasoned and the filet was underseasoned. The best part of the meal were the appetizers. Also, the waiter didn’t come around to refill drinks
Our experience with Shula's is constantly varied. We have had very good meals there and some pretty weak ones. This one was a B- or even maybe a C+. The best item was my bone-in steak, which I almost accidentally learned about since it was not on the menu and not initially mentioned by the waiter. It was prepared quite well and a nice size at 12 ounces. The pork feature on the menu was loaded with potential, but was quite dry. Much more glaze was in order to offset this. The drinks were mediocre for an upscale restaurant.
The food was fantastic, service wasn't bad but for the $ amount you spend, service could have been a little better. We were there for our 9th anniversary and I felt that they could have at least comp'd the dessert. We felt that they could have made it a little more personal especially since they knew and asked why we were there that night. Dinner for 2 was over $220.00
Food and service was 5 star. My only small complaint was that the link in the reservation email for directions was incorrect, so we showed up late. However they still kept our reservation and the staff were amazing! Thank you. When we are in Tallahassee again we will stop and eat there again.
