Celebrate Mom at Shula's!
Sunday, May 13, 2018
We were in town for a conference. There were three of us at the table. Two of us ordered the ribeye, which was cooked perfectly to our requests. The fries were really good. The vegetable medley was fine. My companions enjoyed the Brussels sprouts with bacon. Our other companion ordered the swordfish, which he was thrilled with. Our server (Felicia, I believe) was extraordinary. The pace of dining was just right. My only complaint is that we were “downstairs” and it was a little bit warm and stuffy.
Was greatly disappointed by not only the quality of the steak, but it being incorrectly cooked. In a party of 4 only one person was content with their meal. Two of the steaks were tough and we were told that they had just switched suppliers. My steak was requested medium well and it was served medium rare. I did return the steak and it came back medium well.
I will say that the service was incredible. Jake at the bar was very attentive and helpful. Keith, our waiter was very eager to please with all of our issues.
Love Shula's! New design is great and wait staff was attentive. Quiet evening and minimal reservations to ensure all focus is on clientele. Cannot wait to return! Seafood and steaks are both delicious!
The food was great! Staff was very courteous and friendly; however, made a lot of unnecessary trips for basic request; appear to lack some organizational skills during large parties. The Chicken Salad must be the boom, both times requested during my stay at the Marriott, they were out of it! Turkey sandwich was good, but need choice of bread...bread too thick!
Server (Tanya) was very attentive and polite. Quality of food was OK. Tried the boneless chicken appetizers.....they tasted a little dry/overcooked. Steak was good although i wouldn't care for the fried onion strings on top ...doesn't taste well with the steak. The mashed potatoes were plentiful but would have preferred more creaminess...again a little dry. Polite, professional staff.
The only issue we had that night was getting our tabs. From the time that we asked for our checks until the time that we were given our charge cards back, it had been at least 20 minutes. The cocktails, particularly the mule and the martinis, were amazing. A great deal for birthdays as if you join the club the birthday party gets a free entree!
We never got called to our table. Ended up at the bar which was okay. No heat in the restaurant did not help.
Waited over 30 minutes for an appetizer that was cold. Waited 40 minutes for food that was cold. The flavor of the food was great, just cold when we got served. We let the manager know, when he asked how the meal was. It's a shame!
While the waitress wound up making the service better the sour faced unfriendly girl that greeted us at the front door didn't start out that way. Even though we made a reservation over a month in advance we were shown to a table in the hallway. When I said I wasn't happy with this I was told there were no other tables available. Then all of a sudden out of thin air a small table became available in the bar area. When finally seated we had to wait over 40 minutes for our appetizer. Our food came out almost immediately after that. My best recommendation to everyone would be to be very clear where you want your table and be prepared to wait.
The food was great as always! The calamari was some of the best we ever had. The marinara sauce was excellent! Filet was cooked perfect. My wife's red snapper was excellent as well! I don't understand why more people don't go there. Service is always very good! We highly recommend this place!!
Always consistent food & very good service!
We went for our anniversary and were sat at a table near the bar. Someone had their dog off of a leash in the bar. There was a small child sitting at the bar. We both ordered steaks medium rare. When they came out, one was perfect and one was very rare. The smashed potatoes were great, but cold. Overall for the price I was extremely disappointed in the atmosphere and quality of the food.
Outback Steakhouse quality steaks at $35 a plate. Will not be back. May be ok for burgers and fries?
2nd time here for Thanksgiving with family (2015 and 2017), but will also be the last. Meats were room temperature to cold. Employees handling food and moving about even leaving the meat station without changing gloves before handling food. Dessert station was unattended. Waitress only came by on a couple of occasions to refill water, but added a 20% gratuity for a party of 3 without checking with me first. We were seated in the dark bottom floor, felt a little uncomfortable with this especially seeing absolutely no African American patrons were being seated on the main level. I’m a Marriott Gold member and I stay at the hotel very frequently on business, but likely to change locations and definitely won’t dine at Shula’s again.
We go to Shula’s every “Thanksgiving” for their buffet. Always delicious! Different sides each year. Always great service...friendly, capable & always on the ball! Great wine selection as well.
Great experience. Will definitely go there again!
Very juicy meat, great sides, lights to bright missing some ambience
My wife and I went to Shula's 347 for a date night this past weekend. We definitely will have to return in the future. All the details from being welcomed by name to the amazing food were executed flawlessly. My only regret is that we had not discovered this restaurant sooner.
Food was great! New waiter (third day) a little slow but friendly, good sense of humor. Bar was out of first gin ordered; had to go to storeroom for 2nd choice (which is featured in one of their specialty drinks). Bar service very slow.
Excellent steak, good service. I had the Shula filet mignon and Mrs., filet mignon medallions. She likes the meat with no red and a thin line of light pink. I prefer no red, but pink. We both got our steak cooked exactly as requested. The Shula filet mignon was truly excellent – wonderful flavor and very tender. The medallions were excellent as well. We both enjoyed excellent cocktails and a wonderful dessert of Crème brûlée.
TIP: Reservations recommended. We were not able to get in the first night we tried because we didn’t have reservations (and we generally won’t wait more than 10 minutes).
Just a date night with hubby. Wonderful food- great wine- fantastic server... only downside was the AC was not working well - very stuffy!
We always have an AMAZING time sitting at the bar with Jake and drive all the way from the Northern VA area down to stay at this particular Marriott just to enjoy a nice steak/seafood dinner at Shula's accompanied by Jake's amazing service and hand-crafted cocktails.
Unforunately on our most recent visit there were some issues with the kitchen over-cooking salmon and then under-cooking it on the repeat, but the management took care of that for us in the bill. Only thing I'd suggest is more consistency from the kitchen.
The appetizers are amazing, spinach dip is the best you'll have and their BBQ Shrimp is always outstanding!
Great steaks and side dishes. Service very good. Free valet parking for locals!
I had a very enjoyable time. The staff were awesome and I had valet service for my car. The drinks were great and there was a large selection of beer and wine. The food was outstanding and I would highly recommend this establishment do any of those in the local area. We travel a distance just eat there.
A must stop if you are Norfolk... the she-crab is the best...the steak was cooked to perfection
My roast chicken entrée' was very dry, we sat in the upper room and the seats in the smaller booth was terribly uncomfortable. The manager was gracious when he asked how our meal was and I choose not to complain because it was a birthday meal
We had a celebratory dinner after completing a hard set of projects off site.
The wait staff was friendly, the steak was tremendous, the only thing that causes a downgrade is that the fried onions with the steak (I had the Times Square, ordered rare recieved perfectly done) had a slight taste of mold in some bites.
My partner had never had Key lime pie, so we saved room for it. GET IT. Best key lime outside of Florida.
Food and service was very good. The mid-level chain restaurant decor doesn't quite match with paying $40 for a really good filet though.
I'd been to Shula's several times but this one was a disappointment, especially for the price. My ribeye tasted more like a sirloin. The food was not hot. On the positive side, portions were large, soup and salad were very good.
My wife and I enjoyed a lovely ribeye dinner for our 25th wedding anniversary. The food is always outstanding and the customer service was exceptional! We look forward to returning soon.
Sharron was an exceptional server and the food was delightful.
I always enjoy Shula's 347. I never had the steak before, it was so much better the next day. I asked the waitress if it was usually salty and she said no she never heard of that nor had she ever heard of any complaints so I didn't either. She asked me if I wanted another one, I said no I'd make the best of it. I will say this, the next day it was amazing!
Food was delicious and prices were awesome. Staff was great. Only thing was we were sitting upstair and it got warm, did not feel very cool. But will come back maybe sit downstairs.
My husband were there for date night and it was wonderful ! We could talk and the atmosphere was just wonderful. The wait staff was spot on with everything they told us about the menu and we had a great time.
It was a great evening for my Birthday dinner!! I completely love the Filet Medallions and the smashed potatoes.
Food was great. Service from the kitchen was slow, server was very attentive.
Our only complaint was they ran out of certain menu items, well before the dinner rush.
I can only speak of personal experience of the fillet - the quality of three meat was fine but it was dry. I needed the Shula sauce. I think it needs to be prepared in more butter. Everyone else enjoyed their entres.
The service was unbelievably slow. The people were nice but nothing memorable. With so much more at waterside, they need to up their game.
There was an hour wait on the food so we went to bar and the bar service was terrible.
