Shuckers Ratings and Reviews
We’ve been to Schuckers many times and tonight it just seemed average. Greeting at door wasn’t overly warm, server wasn’t as sharp as previous experiences we’ve had and other than the raw oysters, which were fantastic, the rest of the meal was average at best. There’s a lot of good places to go in Seattle and we always have slotted a spot for Shuckers but I think the next time we are in town we will probably visit some other places and give than a try. I hope this isn’t a sign that Shuckers is slipping because we really liked it there in the past.
Our table was ready at the time our reservation booked for. Hostess was very pleasant. Our waitress was promptly at our table, took our drink orders and returned very quickly. She gave us time to peruse the menu and came back, took our order and it was up in no time at all. Overall this was a most pleasant experience as neither of us had been to Shuckers before and both of us plan to return again.
We had been here a couple months ago for a wedding dinner and wanted to return for a Christmas weekend dinner. My wife and I ordered different items from our previous visit and were just as happy. There’s a nice wine list by the glass, so we weren’t limited to something that only paired with one meal.
I chose this restaurant because I love the ambiance and the food. My husband and I have gone there several times over the years and enjoyed it. This occasion was dinner with out of town friends and I thought it would be beautiful downtown and in the hotel lobby for Christmas lights and decorations. When I made the reservation, I asked for a table for four in a more quiet and cozy corner where we could talk and enjoy our dinner. I made the reservation well in advance so expected as much. However, they seated us right out in the middle of the room with wait staff running by us and lots of people moving around and noisy. Not to mention, we were there early and sat in the bar and spent $$. They were almost 30 minutes late in seating us! Ughhh!! Probably not the right choice for what I expected.
We had a birthday dinner for four. A terrific waiter, a terrific menu, love the oyster options, fresh fish selections & drinks were excellent... 3 martini drinkers one microbrew drinker. Great vibrant vibe @ Shucker's... it's an institution in Seattle. Been there forever, love it!
Met some friends for dinner while we were in town and fortunately made reservations at Shuckers well in advance. Nice upscale atmosphere and good food and service. Fairmont prices but worth it.
We were staying at the hotel and did stop in for quick bowl of soup for a light lunch and that was very good. Would highly recommend the mushroom appetizer, which was outstanding. We enjoyed scallops and the salmon for dinner, both prepared perfectly.
I would go back if staying at the property, which was done up nicely for Christmas.
Shuckers is my go-to place when I am in Seattle. The food and service is always top notch. My friend and I had dinner on a Friday night. It was very difficult to have a conversation as the noise level was extreme. But people are warm and friendly. If you want an intimate meal,
this is not the place. We just talked loudly to hear each other!!! Hahaha. Still had a great time.
It was a shame I picked this restaurant based on your yelp review. I had the mussels which tasted like water and wine no flavor whatsoever, we ordered the chanterelles they were over cooked , dried out and chewy and the halibut my friend ordered was over cooked as well. My girlfriend filled ou the survey when she paid a young lady came to our table to ask us about the meal. Needless to say she apologized and hoped we would try them again. I had to laugh after she left since that is all she said. Needless to say the lack of response told me everything... you will never see me back and of course I will share my experience with others.
Nice ambiance and adequate service but the meal was overpriced for the food quality. Bland halibut without any interesting sauces or taste. Other fish dishes also prepared without embellishment. Would have ordered the scallops but they were about $38 for 4. Steep. If I want bland food, I can certainly accomplish that at home. Appetizers were more interesting and tasty. I had the octopus. Cocktails were quite good. Other than returning for drinks and appetizers, I won't be back.
Service was poor from the hostess seating us, to the table service. Waited 25 minutes before our drink orders were taken, no water refills, and two of our party never received water. Crab cakes were good, but dry, had to ask for more sauce...which was sparingly applied to the plate to began with. Not the usual Shucker's experience.
I had a lunch with my sisters and chose Shuckers because of its convenient location in the Fairmont hotel where I was staying. The ambience was warm, lots of wood and comfortable spacing between tables, and fairly quiet. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive. I wish, however, they had steered me away from the Dungeness crab melt which was under inspired. The crab was abundant but not very flavorful, the presentation was drab with a blob of melted cheese atop the crab, a thick tunafish looking spread, atop a square piece of toasted white bread that was somewhat soggy. The garlic wedges that came as a side were, by contrast, crisp and tasty. Note I stayed for a good hour and a half and we had a great and comfortable conversation after the meal that went without interruption. So A+ on service but a C on food. Note that while mine could have been better, my sisters liked their salad and sandwich respectively but I probably won’t be back.
Came here for dinner. If not for the overall quality of the food, which was excellent, this would be a much lower rating. Seafood we had (oysters, salmon, crab cakes, and scallops) were all fresh and prepared just right. Nice balance of flavors, the seafood was not overpowered. However, the portions were quite small for the steep prices. Then, the service was pretty lacking. Our waiter was inattentive, seems disengaged, didn't provide details about the dishes, etc., and didn't really check up on us as we dined. Really brought down the experience and value for the money. Will not enthusiastically recommend but not saying you should completely avoid it either.
My friend and I had dinner before we went to the 5th Avenue. Everything was great. Love the way they do the fresh fish board and the options. We came here several months ago and it was much quieter then. This last time it was a lot more noisy. Still great food, wine and service.
