Boasting the beautifully carved oak paneling and unique tin ceiling of the haberdashery it once was in the 1930's, Shuckers is one of Seattle's oldest and most pre-eminent oyster bars. With a daily menu featuring a selection of fresh fish and seafood, Shuckers brims with 13 different kinds of oysters prepared nine different ways and features local artisan microbrews.

The Zagat 2005 Restaurant Survey coins Shuckers as a 'Seattle classic' that is one of the 'best seafood restaurants in town' with 'great ambiance' and 'excellent service.'

The appetizers were very good. We got the brussel sprouts and the mac&cheese. However, the Cod and Salmon were very bland.

Great atmosphere and good food. Restaurant very convenient for 5th Avenue Theater. Restaurant was crowded and we were seated about 25 minutes after our reservation. We were going to theater after dinner, but waiter quickly adjusted and we were finished and at the theater with 10 minutes to spare.

Simply fabulous! Very attentive wait staff served warm olives and bread followed by oysters on the half shell and chowder before the main course of fresh seafood -- the Black Cod was perhaps the best I've had. "Buttery" does not begin to give it justice. The clam linguini had so many clams it was unbelievable.

It was quite loud, and the table for 2 was a bit small. Otherwise the ambiance would have been a 5.

Walking distance to the Paramount and 5th Avenue Theaters. Shuckers is the perfect pre- or post- destination when attending Hamilton and/or Momma Mia!

Don't throw away your shot!

Excellent oyster bar and seafood. Had oysters as starter and moved on to a beautiful seared tuna. The wine selection is good, and there is an excellent bar, at least based on the chocolate martini for desert. Beautiful old wood carving and finishes.

Delicious seafood, especially the oysters! Whenever I am in Seattle, I come here for dinner and never disappointed. Since I travel by myself, I’m always greeted and asked if I would like to read a paper of which is a nice touch.

"SHUCKERS" was absolutely the best seafood we had in Seattle. My wife and I each chose items off the Daily Board and thanks to our server "Jim" determining our likes and dislikes we were not disappointed.

We’ve been to Schuckers many times and tonight it just seemed average. Greeting at door wasn’t overly warm, server wasn’t as sharp as previous experiences we’ve had and other than the raw oysters, which were fantastic, the rest of the meal was average at best. There’s a lot of good places to go in Seattle and we always have slotted a spot for Shuckers but I think the next time we are in town we will probably visit some other places and give than a try. I hope this isn’t a sign that Shuckers is slipping because we really liked it there in the past.

Our table was ready at the time our reservation booked for. Hostess was very pleasant. Our waitress was promptly at our table, took our drink orders and returned very quickly. She gave us time to peruse the menu and came back, took our order and it was up in no time at all. Overall this was a most pleasant experience as neither of us had been to Shuckers before and both of us plan to return again.

We had been here a couple months ago for a wedding dinner and wanted to return for a Christmas weekend dinner. My wife and I ordered different items from our previous visit and were just as happy. There’s a nice wine list by the glass, so we weren’t limited to something that only paired with one meal.

I chose this restaurant because I love the ambiance and the food. My husband and I have gone there several times over the years and enjoyed it. This occasion was dinner with out of town friends and I thought it would be beautiful downtown and in the hotel lobby for Christmas lights and decorations. When I made the reservation, I asked for a table for four in a more quiet and cozy corner where we could talk and enjoy our dinner. I made the reservation well in advance so expected as much. However, they seated us right out in the middle of the room with wait staff running by us and lots of people moving around and noisy. Not to mention, we were there early and sat in the bar and spent $. They were almost 30 minutes late in seating us! Ughhh!! Probably not the right choice for what I expected.
