Shuckers World Famous Raw Bar & Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Very good restaurant and experience. The staff cares about theit guests and look at satisfying all demands like when we asked to be seated on the deck and no place were available when we first arrived, so we were placed just beside the dock and as soon as a table was available, we were seated on the dock as expected. Food is delicious, especially the lobster roll and not overpriced.
Shuckers is one of my regular haunts on the Cape. It's not fancy (not in the least), but it's outdoor seating at its finest. Beautiful view of the harbor in Woods Hole, great lobster boil (lobster, clams, mussels, and corn on the cob), and everything else on the menu is consistently excellent.
Literally the most disappointing dining experience in cape cod. The food is less than subpar. It is criminal what the turn out for what they charge. Two positives, friendly waitstaff and a VERY strong pour. Find another option . . . .
We stopped by to check on the Lobster Roll we'd heard so much about. The Hostess told us there was a Tuesday 2-for-1 Special ...You get 2 lobsters, corn, mussels & steamers for $25.95. So instead of waiting for lunch time - we made a dinner reservation! It was so worth the wait ! Now we'll have to return again for the Lobster Roll!
Our waitress was an eager young lady who overdid her friendliness but she's forgiven. The food was good -- this is not high end chef cuisine but it is good, basic summer seafood cooking. Good value. Fun location. Woods Hole is tough on a Saturday night and this restaurant delivers on the basics, but don't come here for a high end dining experience.
Pass on this one. We started with our fav appetizer- oysters. They were tiny, dry & def had been sitting around for an extended time. Then steamers- though the taste was ok, again, I've never seen such tiny steamers & we had to flag down a different waitress who was surprised we wanted plates with steamers & bread. Waitress returned to say they were out of the salmon I ordered, so I switched to lobster roll-ok size (prob 4 oz)& they don't have fries, comes with a bag of Cape Cod chips. The mashed sweet potatoe was puréed (like baby food). All the meals were just warm when they came out. The only good thing was they bring each person a brownie ball. I'd save my money & go to McDonald's!!
Had a wonderful meal one week before the meal reviewed here. Identical menu choice. First time was excellent with food well prepared. Second go around it was dreadful as were the choices of my companions. Major disappointment.
The staff hanging around the hostess staff not friendly at all...the man hanging out over seeing things was rather rude to us as well! When everyone at the tables food came out not cooked someone of authority should have came by the table to speak with us! I was also missing part of my meal. Although our waitress was nice.
Very friendly staff from the moment we walked in. Our server Matt was very attentive & caring. We celebrated our 5 year anniversary dinner here while on vacation to cape cod. Didn't bring our kids but would be suitable for families too. Nice waterfront spot.
The food and table service were very good. My one complaint would be this----it was raining, and our group was arriving in two different cars from two different locations AND had to park. The majority were dropped off (5 of us). There were several open tables that we could see, including our own table, but we were not allowed to sit because our whole party wasn't there. But they assured us that our table would be held. Since it was raining we stood in the bar area, taking up room and looking at our open table, and were not permitted to sit. I understand the basis of this policy, but it was OBVIOUS that it was slow, there were many other open tables, the fact that they said they were holding our table for us...it would've been nice and appreciated if they had been a little more flexible with us and allowed us to sit, and perhaps order an appetizer. We we're only waiting on 2 people, who were parking cars. We are local, not tourists, but we have lots of visitors throughout the season. I will definitely think twice before bringing them here again, because I don't feel like they cared about US, the customer, like some other local restaurants do.
Great service and very accommodating hosts. Food rated from Triple D was awesome, sushi decent. Not the best place to eat in Woods Hole, but a nice place to have a reasonably priced waterfront meal. The frozen drinks (mudslide, pins colada, daiquiri) were actually quite gross but maybe the bartender was off that day.
Service was sloppy, although this might have been because the waitress was new. The steamers were overcooked, the edamame was cold, and there was a foreign object in the salad. Prices were high for the quality of the food. On the plus side, the owner did remove the salad charge from the bill.
Out-of-towners wanting good seafood in a casual setting. Service was friendly and attentive, seafood chowder was incredible, lobster salad roll very ample. Biggest wine pour I've had in a while, and with the heat lamps, we enjoyed sitting outside on a cool evening. Thanks!
Food was excellent. I left a bright colored jacket at the table and felt the waitress could have seen it and walked it out to the street where I was waiting with my elderly mother for our car. She didn't and we had to drive back for it. Her service was adequate but that's all.
Food was good. Mac and cheese
With lobster a hit as well as lobster pie. Boiled lobster warm not hot. Asked for
View and they squeezed my party of 6 to a tiny round table while other tables were open. Switched to larger table but next to "El bano" not likely to return given the automatic gratuity not matching automatic quality service. Meg our waiter was the bright spot. Very busy but found time for us.
In addition to making a reservation via Open Table, we also called the restaurant to make sure that we would be seated "seaside", i.e. outside; we were told that this would be done. However, when we arrived (very punctually!), no outside table was available. We were told to wait for an outside table, if we insisted on the seating that we had been promised! The wait was supposed to be at least 20 minutes. We were unable to wait that long and took a table close to the outside section, but not in that section. Right after we were seated, i.e. before we had ordered or had even unrolled our napkins, we saw that two tables opened up in the outside section. This was less than 10 minutes after we had arrived. When we asked a server (perhaps the owner), we were told, in an extremely unfriendly manner, that once we were seated, no changes were possible. Other customers who had arrived after us were seated at the tables in the area which we had been promised. The person we explained the situation to continued to talk to us in an extremely disrespectful way; no matter what the issue, no such tone of conversation should ever be used in polite company. All three of us felt insulted and almost left, but we decided to stay and make the best of a sad situation. (It was the birthday of one of us.) The quality of the food was very good, but not outstanding; e.g. two of us ordered prime ribs--one of us wanted them rare, the other medium; both portions arrived very rare. All three orders were supposed to come with vegetables; the only vegetable were two spears of green asparagus per plate, and the asparagus was quite old and woody. Overall, an upsetting and far-from-excellent experience. None of us three will return, and we will not recommend this place to friends and colleagues. There are other places in Woods Hole, and certainly on the Cape, with similar food of at least similar quality, and with much better ambiance.
