Great service and wine offerings!
Excellent food and great service. Very pretty restaurant.
I really hated to rate Shorebreak as simply "good". Out of our party of 4, 2 of the meals were "OK" and 2 were very good. The salads were DELICIOUS! My biggest complaint, and I hope you hear me Shorebreak, is playing " food auction" when the meal comes. That means a server comes and says," pasta?" or "steak?", and the guest has to raise their hand or say,"thats me!" It does not take a rocket scientist to come up with a system that would make it easy for a server to know who gets what! Especially in a restaurant with higher prices, the server should know where the meals go! Love the atmosphere in the front room.
We had a really nice dinner. Shrimp and grits, halibut special, scallops. Cooked and seasoned well. Owner Kate is lovely, helpful about the food, wine offerings, etc. Menu is priced well too.
This was our early summer mid-week getaway..We’ve been to Shorebreak many times and they’ve never disappointed us. Service was excellent - food was delicious. I had salmon - perfectly done; my wife had shrimp and grits - deliciously prepared. We had such a great time I forgot to take my credit card when we left. But no worries - they held it for me till next day. We will definitely be back.
Just too loud to have a decent dinner conversation with a date.
Nice restaurant week menu
We made a reservation at this restaurant based on feedback and were not disappointed. We started with sprouts, smoked bacon and fig and then we ordered the crab cakes and short/ribs & scallops. Great dining experience and will definitely come back next time in Rehoboth.
had the $45 5 course restaurant week special. the app consisted of 5 items, so small they all fit on one forkful. my 2nd course arrived 30 minutes later, a small but good cream of something soup. 30 minutes later my 3rd course of 2 scallops arrived (You're seeing the problem here) every table near us was having the same problem of long, long delays between courses. my 4th course of shortribs was served after yet another long delay and they were only half edible. my server was stopped as he was running to another table and asked how my dinner was. l showed him the mound of fat and he said " sorry about that"
with disgust we left as very, very unhappy guests. all of our other trips there was very satisfactory.
Good Bye Shorebreak!!!
Great first visit to Shorebreak Lodge. We dined there for Coastal DE Restaurant Week. We will return to try more of their dishes and cocktails!
Absolutely delicious meal and perfect service. Will go back again and again!
Once in a while one finds a place that is a real gem. Shorebreak is this kind of place. We have been coming to Rehoboth for several years and there are a few places where the food is predictably good as is the service.
Shorebreak is definitely our new favorite place in Rehoboth. The food was superb and the service, if not absolutely perfect,it was so friendly and pleasant.
We cannot wait to go back.
The octopus and the crab cakes are out of this world.
Excellent dinner! We enjoyed the sea bass special which was fantastic. Highly recommend Shorebreak and will be back!!
Service was very good! Food was awesome! Menu is different from other local restaurants.
Great food fresh flavors.
Terrific meal consisting of bay scallops for me and lamb chorizo meatloaf for my wife. Appetizer of shrimp and grits also very good. Salads were also very tasty. Significant upgrade over last time we were there a few years back. Creative food, great service, very good wine pairings added up to a great meal!
Anniversary dinner. One of the best dinners we’ve had. Crab cakes were large and without any filler. Scallops were also amazing. Octopus cooked perfectly. Highly recommend bread pudding for dessert.
Another wonderful meal! Starting with cocktails at the bar - Charles is a great guy. And just want to mention are excellent server Billy. And can't forget to mention the always charming Dante who served us our apps at the bar. Love this place. Kudos to Kate - you have an awesome establishment.
I took my husband Shorebreak Lodge for his birthday. The service was wonderful! The atmosphere was nice (a bit loud but overall ok). The food was phenomenal!!!!! We will definitely return!
We have enjoyed Shorebreak for several years. We are both primarily seafood eaters and the fish has always been fresh and simply prepared. This year the menu had a lot of seafood entrees as always but many of them had pork involved in the preparation in one form or another. As I do not eat meat the result was a very limitied menu, and I was disappointed . Our server was very good and knowledgeable about the wine and menu
Used to be excellent, but not so good this time. My fish special (Boston Sea Bass) was bland and tasteless. The entire entre needed flavor and seasoning. Probably won’t go back. It was one of our favorites. Many choices in Rehoboth Beach/Lewes area. We are year round locals who dine out a lot
Always great food and great service.
The appetizer, salad, and main courses were good though could have used a bit more flavor. If you get seated in the from room, the ambiance is good. Seated in the back room - it's boring & dulling especially if you are near the back door. The view out the back door is like looking out at a garbage dump - broken down and moldy plastic tables and trash.
Friendly and excellent quiet live music. Perfect way to begin the weekend!
First time here and very disappointed. Place was extremely noisy. Seated in the hallway leading to the backroom, probably worst table in the place. Every time a waiter walked by or someone went to the restrooms in the back the floor shook and we were interrupted. Food mediocre at best. How do these places get overall 4.5 star ratings on Open Table only to be so bad?
Expected more based upon the reviews and research.
Had many small plates to share. Grilled octopus is the best I've ever had.
Great food as usual. It was a slow night during the week, so we ate at the bar and had a great time.
The food was delicious. My friend and I couldn't decide between the Oso bucco and the grilled Octopus so we ordered on of each and shared.
Very good food, good friendly service, nice atmosphere. Drinks are a bit pricey, but it is Rehoboth Beach. Ceviche appetizer was delicious. Surf and turf was a fun change up with short rib and scallops, and the rissoto was excellent. Hubby got the charges octopus, perfectly seasoned a not a hint of rubbery.
Nice to eat for change of pace. However very noisy atmosphere from staff cleaning and banging dish ware. Will try again. Great food and server was exceptional.
Wonderful experience, as always!!
I reluctantly write this review because I hope I can get a table in the future! The food and service at Shorebreak Lodge is Perennially Par Excellence -- Whenever we travel to Rehoboth, we always eat here. The food is consistently great and not your run of the mill menu for tourists. So many good choices that we often get several dishes in appetizer portions. We were a party of three and had the grilled octopus, shrimp and grits, bruschetta, and scallops. (no room for the kim chee mashed potatoes on this trip) Yum! Classic dishes ramped up with a local twist. The service is always friendly and accommodating (waiter Donte) and Kate, the manager on duty, was the sweetest. The beer is always cold and the wine choices make for great pairings. The live music is an added bonus. And, nice Art Deco ambience. Enjoy!
Wonderful food - had the Tasting menu with wine pairings. It is “off season” and we were able to meet other diners and talk with the owner. I would definitely go back for another visit!
My first visit to Shorebreak. Server was pleasant, friendly and was able to give a good explanation of the food. The dinner itself was excellent.
This was our first visit to Shorebreak Lodge, but certainly won't be our last. We liked that they encourage sharing of plates, and we did just that. I had the short-rib soup and an appetizer portion of scallops while my wife had the angus burger. We also shared a plate of brussel sprouts with bacon and figs. Everything was cooked to perfection. The soup was delightful, very hearty and flavorful. The scallops were tender with a slightly spicy sauce that finished with citrus. I am not a huge fan of sprouts, but they were tasty and I ate more than my share. The burger was a bit over cooked, but still full of flavor. Our server, Michael, was friendly and attentive, but not pushy. A delightful evening, which we hope to repeat soon.
Wonderful! Always great quality food and experience. Great wine selection from a knowledgeable sommelier. Love Shorebreak!
Food was amazing and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and friendly. Would go back again for sure.
We LOVE Shorebreak Lodge. Great Service and AMAZING food! The octopus appetizer was amazing and tasted more like lobster than octopus. I absolutely love their Surf & Turf with amazing scallops and delicious short ribs with to die for Parmesan risotto - and if you make the perfect bite of scallop, short rib and risotto in 1 bite you will have the most amazing food experience - all of the flavors together are amazing. We'll be back soon!
We had an 8pm reservation for four. You wouldn’t have guessed it was the off season or a late dinner - the place was lively when we arrived, and only became more lively as the evening continued. We picked a nice booth further from the festivities in the back dining room, but the room filled up shortly.
We started with a the soup of the day: a creamy tomato and mushroom bisque that everyone raved over. We continued with the burrata and the seasoned olives - both were appetizing but simple snacks for our party of four. I had the surf and turf of day boat scallops and short ribs over grits, which I enjoyed, although the short ribs may have been too salty for my liking. Our table had two orders of the steamed baby clams - another home run. My husband had a spicy shrimp dish; when they say spicy, they were not kidding around, the chili flavor overwhelmed the shrimp so he soaked them in the leftover broth from the steamed clams to make them palatable. My in-laws enjoyed their scallop entree and the beet salad - no complaints and they ate every bite. The service was impeccable, everything arrived in a manner where we felt neither rushed nor neglected, and our drinks were always full. We will definitely return.
