Shorebreak Lodge Ratings and Reviews
I thought the drinks were great at the bar and the waiter recommended a fabulous wine. Loved it. All the food was delicious however I thought the portions were a little small for the price paid. If they were a little bigger it would have made a big difference in my impression. Had a delicious poached pear with pumpkin gelato as an ending that was really great.
I would definitely go back.
Excellent service. The octopus was a wonderful texture and taste, everything they said it would be. They are known for mussels which were also excellent. Cocktails were delicious. Cheesecake was very good. This place is easy to pass on the street but don't. It's a Rehoboth gem.
We had a surprisingly nice time: good food, good service, fun music with a singing bartender and a drop-by from the earnest owner. The $25 tasting menu was excellent: homemade charcuterie, a bisque that was nice, a scallop dish and a beef entre, both excellent and an unmemorable dessert (but we're not dessert people). Our expectations were low (beach town in November)but we definitely would go back. Wine list was decent and prices were fair. They offered a pairing menu, but we passed.
We have been to many Rehoboth restaurants but had never tried Shorebreak...we are so glad we did. It was a Wednesday night and there was entertainment including the bartender singing...he was great! The owners were there and they were very personable. Our waiter was great and the food was excellent. We will definitely be back soon!!!
My friends and I were celebrating three birthdays in our group and could not have picked a better place to celebrate. Justin, our server, was knowledgeable, efficient, and fun! The service exceeded our expectations, and the food was fantastic! I highly recommend this restaurant and will return every time I come to Rehoboth.
Food was fantastic. Menu had a lot of options makes us want to come back try all the other dishes. Complements to chef everything we ordered was prepared perfectly. Our waiter Justin was excellent he knew every dish on the menu. He mad some great suggestions which tried. He took great care of us. This was our first time at this restaurant and to top it all off the owner gave us a tour of the whole place including outdoor gardens and walk-in box. We would recommend the Shorebreak Lodge to all who want a great meal and service.
Seating was a little tight; my chair touched the chair back of another diner, and my wife, opposite had a similar issue. The soup of the day, a wild mushroom bisque, was outstanding—but the bowl was only half full, which detracts from the presentation. For my main course I had the “surf and turf” which featured short rib and scallops with risotto. The scallops and risotto were outstanding but the short rib (containing no rib by the way) was barely edible, but went down ok with the risotto
We shared the chocolate bombe for dessert. Really enjoyed that, but the strawberries should have been better—we had some at home earlier for breakfast that were much better. The ice cream was too crunchy.
The service was very good, the staff was knowledgeable and pleasant
Loud but not too loud if you go early. It was a Saturday night.
We go to Rehoboth often and mostly eat at our two fav restaurants: Cafe Azafran and Saltair.
Couldn't get a reservation at Saltair this time and didn't feel like waiting around. Read great reviews of Shorebreak on line and found could make a reservation. So glad we tried it.
Food was great and service from our waiter, Justin, was outstanding. We had passed this restaurant several times but never tried it. Decor inside is rather odd - white plastic chairs....
a little cold seeming, but we were over that quickly. We will definitely return!
I've been to Shorebreak on at least 3 other occasions and it has been stellar. The chef is very creative. This time I'd have to give it a "meh." The waiter was great and the meal started out perfectly with yummy cocktails but it was all downhill from there. We ordered a variety of appetizers--2 salads, soup, deviled eggs, and shrimp and grits. I thought the eggs were on the bland side; my companion thought they had too much mustard. The soup was perfect (a spicy cream of butternut), but the salads left much to be desired (one was beets, the other arugula/watermelon/feta)--both sounded interesting but in reality not. The shrimp came undercooked and had to be sent back (which was handled graciously; even providing extra grits) but the sauce was tasty. One salad arrived without feta, which was brought to the table with sincere apologies after the omission was pointed out. Most people might rate the meal "good" or "very good" but because all of my previous meals have been SO GOOD, this didn't even seem good. I'd try them again, though, maybe it was just an off night. The place is small, cozy, beautiful, and sophisticated but still very beachy, and reasonably priced. You could dress up or down and feel good either way. Menu is eclectic. Definitely worth a visit if you've never been!
The lodge is a wonderful find in downtown Rehoboth. The menu is innovative and the quality of the food is outstanding. They feature small dishes as well as normal entrees; there are numerous veggie dishes as well as seafood finds, like grilled octupus. The sauce for the Mussels dish is the best that I have ever had. The sevice is attentive and very helpful. The front dining room is cozy and quiet, For ale and beer enthusiasts there is a wide vaiety avilable, including rarely found options. The best part is they take reservations1
We were in town for one night and chose Shorebreak based on reviews we had seen. We are glad we experienced the food, service and buzzing vibe. We loved the chili wings served hot, crunchy and tender. My husband loved the house meatloaf. The kitchen was busy but our wonderful server, Jackie, said they would let me try the risotto with my shrimp instead of what was on the menu. A special note, if Kat's pumpkin bread is on the menu be sure to order this dessert. It is terrific. In fact, if you are just up for dessert and love pumpkin, I would suggest heading to Shorebreak.
This was the third time in two years we've come to this restaurant. We live 2 hours away and come to rehoboth for getaways. It was as good as ever! Highly recommend it. Actually, this is now the only place we go for dinner when we're at the beach and want a good quality dinner
One of the big downsides of going to the beach is that the food is usually mediocre at best. Not so at Shorebreak Lodge! My wife and myself were both surprised at how good the food was and wouldn't hesitate to eat at Shorebreak Lodge again when visiting Rehoboth. The service could have been better. The place was packed and the servers were very busy, but somehow our server still found time to sit down and visit with friends in a booth next to ours. Oh well, that's Lower, Slower Delaware!
Bottom line. Don't miss this place the next time you're visiting Rehoboth Beach.
My wife and I came into town and after having heard great things, decided to try Shore Break Lodge for dinner and we were extremely happy we did. Our server Darrell, was Uber attentive without being obtrusive and the food was out of this world. The very best shrimp and grits I have ever had, and the surf and turf is amazing! Not your usual surf and turf, either, it consists of braised short ribs, scallops and a creamy risotto. ..ridiculous delicious. Add to that a perfectly crafted Manhattan and some killer cabernet (Freakshow is a steal at $12 a glass) and you have a perfect meal. Would have loved to try dessert, but I was pleasantly stuffed at that point. Cheers to shorebreak lodge, keep up the great work, outstanding!
We were in Rehoboth for a few days and went to dinner here one night and Henlopen oyster house the next. I enjoyed the food (I got rigatoni; boyfriend got short ribs), but we both preferred Henlopen oyster house. We would definitely return though - server was great, wine was delicious and over all, food was great.
I visited Shorebreak Lodge on the last weekend of summer, and it was delightful. The food is unique, and the servers are happy to explain what the dishes consist of. I had the spiced lamb and chorizo meatloaf on top of "kimchi mash" (mashed potatoes with kimchi in it), and it was delightful. The sauce on the meatloaf was pleasant, and the kimchi hidden in the potatoes was a pleasant surprise. Our drinks were never empty, the servers were kind and patient, and we were seated on comfy sofas.
We have been to Rehoboth many times and never knew about this place. After reading the reviews( which were dead on accurate) we decided to give this a try. What a treat! The menu is rather eclectic but the helpful and attentive wait staff can guide you through all of the choices. Serving sizes are quite ample, so be prepared to share.this place is truly a gem! Do not be put off by the name...this is not a hotel dining room. The mussels, baked brigand naan, fried chicken skin and tautog wear well prepared and extremely flavorful. You will not find a better upscale eatery in Rehoboth. Brace your taste buds and go, it is well worth it!
This place was recommended by friends and will be recommended again by us. Very imaginative menu and good portion size. Food was awesome, no overpowering flavors and everything on the plate complemented the overall dish. Parking at the beach area is always tough, we spent a good 20 mins finding a spot quarter of a mile from the restaurant. But, if you really want an amazing meal, this is well worth the walk/drive.
