Extremely disappointed. We've been going here for Easter brunch for years and this year was stunningly bad. Half the food choices (no eggs benedict?!) were missing. The dessert table was laughably limited. Wait staff was very uneven. One young man tried hard; everyone else ignored us. And to top it off, when the bill came we were shocked by how much MORE expensive it was than last year, considering how little was offered. We won't be returning.
Our second time here while staying at the hotel. Came back for Easter brunch. It was worth it. Great service and excellent food. Love this place!

I felt like we were in a 3 1/2 star hotel restaurant, not a Hyatt Recency in Newport. It was too brite, casual and loud, even though it wasn't very crowded. Servers were nice and courteous, but construction jeans need to be replaced with more professional attire. The cheese platter is recommended especially if you pair with nice red wine. That was my best part of the meal. The entrees were mediocre. Creme
brulee was made just right, and that was my date's favorite parr of the meal.
The food was outstanding! Our Waiter, Julio, was very attentive. I had questions about some of the wine and without asking - he brought me two samples to help me decide. He went above and beyond great service!
Wow this restaurant is quite a find. We would never have gone to it (since it is in a hotel) if it wasn't part of Newport Beach Restaurant Week. The food was some of the best we have sampled at any restaurant in the area. The portions were so large we took home leftovers and had them for dinner the next day. The drinks menu was low priced, and offered plenty of selections. We now have a new favorite restaurant!
LOVE Shor!! The food is fantastic whether it is breakfast lunch or dinner!! We always spend New Years Eve at Shor for a much needed relaxing atmosphere after the Christmas madness. The wait staff is wonderful!! Never a bad attitude and always accommodating. Our New Years Eve dinner was off the chart! Perfect Filet, mashed potatoes and gravy does not get any better!! Ended the evening with Crème Brule, served as I had never seen. Thank you Shor for starting 2018 off to a perfect start.
Lovely and plentiful breakfast buffet. Barbara greets you warmly and our waiter Julio Guerrero is fantastic. Attentive, kind, considerate, knowledgeable. A nice assortment of fruits, meats, eggs, breaks, etc. Enjoy your dining experience with these professionals.

Very nice meal with a nice setting. Got a great deal from Travelzoo for four people. Dessert was the best part especially the pumpkin dessert.
I got the travel zoo deal which included an appetizer, main course and dessert. I had the branzino and it was very good.
Food came 90 minutes after ordering. There were only 5 other occupied tables with parties of 2-3. It was a Saturday night so the kitchen should’ve been better staffed. The other diners looked just as miserable, as we all had a crazy long wait for our food. The server said they were having problems at the kitchen. They need to let us know on the get go that food service would be a problem then we could’ve gone elsewhere rather than leaving quite upset.
At a minimum the food should’ve been good, but even that was a fail! $130 for dinner for 3. Rubbery rib eye steak ($45), rancid ceviche
And chips, and an ahi bowl that was mostly rice. Dessert primarily pumpkin based. Not much options if you’re allergic to pumpkin. In n Out burger would’ve been preferable to what we had. Even for free, I will not come back.
Food was just OK. Nothing special. Wasn't bad nor great. This is not to say i wouldn't go here again. The ambience is ok and we were here for a concert. I would say if you're coming to see a concert at the Hyatt then it might be worth it due to convenience, but I wouldn't consider this place a destination in itself.
Thought we needed the rezzy - nope! Just a handful of folks for dinner on a Saturday night. Overall, disappointed with the food. Hyatt usually has really good restaurants; not so much here.
Caesar salad was somewhat flat in flavor. Steak was overcooked and rather tough. Not sure why they give you a small tub of chimichurri - it's tasty enough but totally overpowers the steak. We ordered fries instead of the mashed and asked for extra crispy. Nope - got whatever the cook wanted to make. The best part of the dinner was the yummy sourdough boule and the fennel butter that came with it.
Good thing they don't charge over-the-top prices!
We went to this restaurant at the Hyatt in Newport Beach because we were staying at the hotel to see a concert. The menu was very limited and way overpriced. The food was just so-so. Will not be back and wouldn’t recommend.
I met with clients at the restaurant and the outdoor tables made the meeting enjoyable and comfortable. The service is unmatched - I will definitely set up more business meetings her in the future. The food is really fresh, perfectly cooked and served beautifully.
Over priced and underwhelming food for dinner buffet prior to concert. Wine selection very poor and overpriced. Service and servers were very good. Would not go back.

A truly disappointing experience all around. The service was horrible, the food was average and the value was low. We literally could have walked out after we finished eating because it was so long since we had seen our waiter that we thought they had forgotten about us. Maybe we were invisible for a period of time because other waiters and support staff walked by and did not seem to see us or hear our request as to where our waiter was. A SHOR minute is equal to 20 minutes in real time because the answer was always, "just one more minute". Many, many better options on the strip.
Friendly staff and service was exceptional. However, I was here for the Christmas brunch and was not impressed. Oysters and crab legs were horrible, and although the menu stated there would be an omelet station, it wasn't there. Wouldn't go back.
absolutely terrible seafood in this buffett, from the dry/powdery tiny crab legs, to the mushy room temperature oysters, to the rubbery shrimp. Prime rib was very good. not sure it was worth the $72 price tag. service was spotty. had to trip the waiter to get him to stop by and serve us more champagne and tend to our needs.
sat outside on the patio with our dog next to the heaters. had the most delicious, juicy cut of prime rib as part of their Christmas dinner buffet. lots of stations: shrimp/crab/oysters; cheese/salami/prosciutto; salad bar; prime rib/turkey/ham [wonderful au jus]); candied yams/green bean casserole/smooth, buttery mashed potatoes -- even an omelette bar. plus dessert (DIY chocolate sundaes & pumpkin pie). they kept everything well-stocked. it was just the best ever. definitely coming back next year!
We booked this restaurant for Christmas dinner. Typically if there is something different happening on a holiday it is stated on the Opentable app, i.e. pre fixe meal, etc. This was not the case. When we arrived it was a buffet style meal. We weren't too upset since all the food looked, and was good. However, the normal menu, which was all we had seen, varied in plate price from $25-$50. We were quite surprised when we received our bill at $72 per plate for a buffet. Also, Open table says valet parking is complimentary. It is not. The food was good, but the overall experience was not.
After a long exhausting day it was a nice place to relax and eat some good food.
Great salads and the bread is out of this world. The lovely patio is a great place to grab a quick lunch.
Food was great. At first, it looked like I had small portions but after eating it, it was filling and I didn't even finish my food. I ate the leftovers the day after and it was still delicious. I had the Lamb Pappardelle (braised lamb, confit onions, house goat ricotta, sherry sauce) as suggested by the server. It was a great suggestion. Valet was free for 3 hours.
Great place to dine if you want something special. We went to a concert and enjoyed the ambiance as well as the dinner. Service was slow as expected due to the large crowd for the concert. Overall it was great!
We had a business group meet for breakfast which was handled very nicely by the staff and allowed us to have a secluded are of the restaurant to be able to hear each other and have discussions.

I booked a reservation at Shor because we were staying at the hotel. We were a group of 6 people and 1 dog. We were able to sit outside on the patio and the dog was allowed to be with us. They hotel has done a nice job of making the patio comfortable but, it is worth knowing that the patio is on the front of the hotel near the drive. Very comfortable but not a scenic dining experience if that is what you are looking for. The staff was very helpful in describing the menu and all were knowledgeable about the items. I have rated this restaurant good for groups because the were so flexible and not extremely crowded. The food was good but the service made everything perfect.

Managed to arrive on a night with a limited menu and it was the full on-line menu which drove us to be there. We opted for a $58 buffet instead. The salad bar portion was among the best. The balance was hugely disappointing. For example, the "beef medallions" were chunks of extremely overcooked beef and dry as the Arizona desert. Impossible to cut, let alone eat. The Yellow tail was tasteless. The deserts came out of a Walmart frozen food case, or at least that is where I would expect to find them. Great service and nice ambiance ruined by a poorly executing kitchen staff. Such a waste. We will not return, though we are in Newport every month. I should mention we do not do buffets and regret varying from our rule-of-thumb regarding them.
Best salmon I ever had--and I've had a lot and that from great spots. How do you beat alfresco dining, superb meal, warm and friendly service ... followed by a jazz concert at the same location. Unbeatable!
Perfect place to dine prior to attending the open air jazz venue. The food was good but since the restaurant was pushing their pre-concert buffet the al a carte menu was very limited. I chose the restaurant based on the online menu so I was disappointed.
