Excellent Management along with excellent staffing yields great customer service and satisfaction. A dedicated Staff out there trying to please the customers and willing to address any concerns, food allergies or desires you have to make sure you have an excellent experience. All you need to do is ask. As a matter of fact, the Food and Beverage Manager is frequently pro-active and right on the scene helping and observing to make sure everyone is happy and more than satisfied. Thank you.
Great day out for Thanksgiving lunch with lots of fun~something for everyone, plus mimosas! Live music while you got your food.
The server was nice and friendly but took too long to take our order. I had the chicken and it was overcooked and dry. My wife had the roasted vegetable entree, it was bland. We did enjoy the sour dough bread. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is uninspired. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We were looking for a special spot for our family to meet upon arrival at the Hyatt, and Shor exceeded our expectations. The food was fabulous, the ambience fantastic, and the service outstanding. We returned for several more meals and were never disappointed!
Food was great (Bolognase beef rib) and service was excellent
This is a go-to for me when I attend the Hyatt Concert Series. Very nice setting on the patio. The buffet is often very delicious and nice choices. The carving station is always good! The salads and charcuterie also very good. The chicken option wasn't very good, but I enjoyed the salmon!
The wait staff is what makes it nice. Bob and Kerri are exceptional at what they do and pay very close attention to their tables! A huge thank you to them for making my evening before the concert relaxing!
We had a great time, terrific food and wine, and the wait staff were excellent. They even took care of our kids with suggestions for meal choices and the mandatory crayons and coloring pages. We will be back!
The quality of the food is inferior. My ribeye was thin and fatter then normal
The wife chicken was dry as if it had come out of a microwave.
Prices was way above the quality and preparation.
The cost for 5 pieces of shrimp was extremely expensive...$18.00.
Rob is the best! We be back to enjoy his service. Food is always excellent.
The manger saved the day... if not for her this would have been no stars: Bad service. Drinks screwd up. Soup served with main course. Food not cooked as asked. Disaster. Manager took over and tried her best to make the bad situation better.
Great food and service. Peaceful ambiance.
Banquet quality food. Not prepared for a busy evening, food took 20min to serve.
I expected more coming from A Hyatt Resort...
I thought Shor was their fine dining outlet but more like a breakfast bar room at a “b” grade hotel.
Food was priced like Michelin but my chicken breast dinner didn’t beat Denny’s. VERY dry.
Overall a very disappointing dinner
The food was excellent, but the service was truly extraordinary
birthday for my friend
This place is gorgeous inside and out. We had brunch, lunch, and dinner here over our 3 day stay at the Hyatt resort in Newport. Brunch was the best value in our opinion. Amazing food and lots of options for adults and kids. The dinner menu is okay but lacks a signature dish. The servers are the best. They comped our dessert just for the hell of it one night. Kept our glasses full and were very attentive to our needs. Also gave us free shots of whiskey! lol It was a celebration weekend and everybody was....celebrating!
We ordered the short rib pasta bolognese and the dinner buffet but the food was not good. The pasta was way too salty and did not taste good. The buffet was just ok and dessert was very bad. We would not go back for the food.
Mothers day brunch was excellent very nice staff and great food 5 stars
Mother’s Day was a wonderful experience. We were married at the Newport Hyatt 25 years ago and it was a moving experience to show the kids where we performed our vows. The Mother’s Day brunch was delightful and the service was first class.
We were excited to try this 4star restaurant because all the reviews were good and it was a Hyatt . We walked in and it was empty , that should have told us right then that the place was subpar. The waiter was very nice and attentive. We ordered the ceviche for the appetizer and chicken for our main. The ceviche had NO flavor whatsoever . I mean it w whileas served in lightly salted water, no lime flavoring at all. I think they precooked the shrimp and just put it together with some tomato and avocado in a glass. My chicken was good and pretty moist while my partners was truly "dry airline chicken" . The sides were fine, cauliflower for me and broccoli for my date. I really don't think we will be returning. Maybe they are know for a great breakfast and NOT dinner,
Chose this restaurant as we are guests in the hotel. Our server, Rob was fantastic, made us feel welcome, was attentive and gave good menu suggestions. The food was yummy and the wine was fabulous. Thanks for a great meal, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great people and wonderful place! Will come back when we are in the area again.
Hotel restaurant; it was very quiet, probably because of a couple of weddings going on at the same time.
Service was very attentive and the food exceeded expectations. My steak was delicious, as were the accompaniments. My mother had a salad which was enormous.
Prices were reasonable.
The salmon and brussel sprouts were delicious but the service was not perfect. A dessert was not brought out after ordering until we asked about it.
I reserved a table for 10 people on a Saturday night at 7 pm for a family reunion. Most of us were staying in Hyatt as well. Some were relatives that live in Newport Coast. For convenience, I booked SHOR in the Hyatt where we were staying. The service was quick and wonderful. The 2 children had plenty of choices on the kid's menu. The 8 adults each chose their own entre. We ordered red and white bottled wine from the wine list. The table for 10 was set near the fireplace. There was another large party also set behind us. There was no disturbing noise level. There were a few couples also eating throughout. The ambiance was candle lit and relaxing. The orders ranged from mussels, mahi-mahi, pasta, short ribs of meat to salads. Everyone was happy with their order. The next day we also ate here for the breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. Cappuccinos, eggs, pancakes, bagels, lox, bacon, fresh fruit. The waitress was friendly and fast service. I would definitely stay here and eat here again!
Made our valentines special, thank you!
Nice place, good cuisine, fair service, a little pricey for what it is.
Only negative was the fact that the request for bread or rolls with the entrees was "warm bread for $4'.
iT WAS DELICIOUS, BUT SEEMED WEIRD FOR A QUALITY RESTAURANT TO NOT INCLUDE.
The food and service were excellent. A bit pricey for a family with a single parent, but it was very good.
I feel bad saying that this restaurant was not good...
My in-laws were staying in the Hyatt, so we decided to go here for dinner. The food was ok, but the prices were very high for what we received. Over salted fish, and over-cooked meat. The sides however were pretty good.
I ordered a tortilla soup, but it was actually tomato soup with tortilla strips on top. Simple issues like this make me give a 3 star review. Wine pours were also quite small :)
Our waiter was very good. Made recommendations, and was very attentive.
Restaurant was empty and very bright for dinner.
Good luck SHOR :)
We go for special occasions, although it is overpriced for the level of food. We have been going for years, and it seems like the food choices and quality go down every year. The service and ambiance are always great however, and it is convenient in terms of location for us.
We attended Boney James concert last Sunday and had the Sunday seafood Brunch. It was the best- very best brunch I’ve ever had. The crab and shrimp and the mash potatoes and Farro salad were “Superb”!!!!
Two weeks prior we had the Friday evening dinner prior to the rained out concert of Boney James which was also suberb!
The food was great, but the champagne SUCKED! Please invest in Wyclif. It’s dold at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa. It’s very reasonable.
Excellent the food was delicious great atmosphere always with a smile highly recommend the Hyatt Regency for brunch lunch a late-night snack afternoon snack in the bar it's just a beautiful place nice experience this is my third time there thank you very much. Thank you see you next Month or very soon!!! Thank you Hyatt's Summer Concerts without summer concerts I would not know what's happening in Newport beach, ca. Thank you
The brunch was excellent and should be added to the menu on a regular basis with the exact same menu.
The service was extremely slow. And the food is what you would expect from a lower tier.
Great food with wonderful service from the staff. A great place for dinner on a relaxing weekend.
The Lobster Mac & Cheese dinner was so delicious! And my friend enjoyed the Wild Isle Salmon dinner. Outside seating was spacious and comfortable, service was prompt and professional. Definitely a place to eat before a live evening concert.
Food was excellent. Service was mediocre despite not being very busy.
Average in almost every way. For an in-house restaurant, it's not bad. There is an outdoor terrace, but it faces the driveway/parking lot - so not much of a view. This Hyatt Regency is labeled 'Newport Beach', but it's really the back bay - again - no real view of water or beach.
The menu has a few interesting items, including a tasty ceviche. But the restaurant was quite crowded due to pre-show diners coming for an evening of jazz on the lawn at the hotel. For guests staying at the property this is a bit inconvenient. Once all those diners finished, things quieted down.
Service was good, if slightly slow. Drinks from the bar took a long time, and were odd tasting. Changed from cocktails to wine. Mediocre wine choices.
I would not recommend this restaurant simply because there are so many better options in the area. If you are a guest at the hotel, it is convenient and not bad.
