Nice place, good cuisine, fair service, a little pricey for what it is.
The food and service were excellent. A bit pricey for a family with a single parent, but it was very good.
I feel bad saying that this restaurant was not good...
My in-laws were staying in the Hyatt, so we decided to go here for dinner. The food was ok, but the prices were very high for what we received. Over salted fish, and over-cooked meat. The sides however were pretty good.
I ordered a tortilla soup, but it was actually tomato soup with tortilla strips on top. Simple issues like this make me give a 3 star review. Wine pours were also quite small :)
Our waiter was very good. Made recommendations, and was very attentive.
Restaurant was empty and very bright for dinner.
Good luck SHOR :)
We go for special occasions, although it is overpriced for the level of food. We have been going for years, and it seems like the food choices and quality go down every year. The service and ambiance are always great however, and it is convenient in terms of location for us.
We attended Boney James concert last Sunday and had the Sunday seafood Brunch. It was the best- very best brunch I’ve ever had. The crab and shrimp and the mash potatoes and Farro salad were “Superb”!!!!
Two weeks prior we had the Friday evening dinner prior to the rained out concert of Boney James which was also suberb!
The food was great, but the champagne SUCKED! Please invest in Wyclif. It’s dold at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa. It’s very reasonable.
Excellent the food was delicious great atmosphere always with a smile highly recommend the Hyatt Regency for brunch lunch a late-night snack afternoon snack in the bar it's just a beautiful place nice experience this is my third time there thank you very much. Thank you see you next Month or very soon!!! Thank you Hyatt's Summer Concerts without summer concerts I would not know what's happening in Newport beach, ca. Thank you
The brunch was excellent and should be added to the menu on a regular basis with the exact same menu.
The service was extremely slow. And the food is what you would expect from a lower tier.
Great food with wonderful service from the staff. A great place for dinner on a relaxing weekend.
The Lobster Mac & Cheese dinner was so delicious! And my friend enjoyed the Wild Isle Salmon dinner. Outside seating was spacious and comfortable, service was prompt and professional. Definitely a place to eat before a live evening concert.
Food was excellent. Service was mediocre despite not being very busy.
Average in almost every way. For an in-house restaurant, it's not bad. There is an outdoor terrace, but it faces the driveway/parking lot - so not much of a view. This Hyatt Regency is labeled 'Newport Beach', but it's really the back bay - again - no real view of water or beach.
The menu has a few interesting items, including a tasty ceviche. But the restaurant was quite crowded due to pre-show diners coming for an evening of jazz on the lawn at the hotel. For guests staying at the property this is a bit inconvenient. Once all those diners finished, things quieted down.
Service was good, if slightly slow. Drinks from the bar took a long time, and were odd tasting. Changed from cocktails to wine. Mediocre wine choices.
I would not recommend this restaurant simply because there are so many better options in the area. If you are a guest at the hotel, it is convenient and not bad.
Quality of the food especially ther buffet was excellent. Good venue for dinner prior to their shows.
The worst Hyatt Regency I've been to. We were all disappointed.
staying in the hotel, it was easy to use. sitting outside was quiet even though it is facing the valet and entrance to the hotel. staff were attentive and friendly
Great service quick seating and delicious food, came with a friend and loved the outside garden area. So lush!
The experience was very boring and underwhelming. It looks like cafeteria, food was boring and not appetizing
SERVICE was average. For the name a SEAFOOD GRILL AND FOR HYATT REGENCY HOTEL IT WAS VERY POOR. We could not wait to leave.
The Lobster roll had only 2 small lobster pieces. It was very poor. The fried calamary were good but very few.
The ahi tuna and the mussels were very good.
We went for a birthday and not even a gesture.
Rob was a great server!! He sent us a bottle of wine to our room after the meal. So kind and attentive as a waiter. Thank you!
Kerri is wonderful!
As guests of the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, this was our go-to restaurant and we used it for breakfasts. Very nice, bright room and optional outdoor seating. Breakfasts were good, but the limited buffet breakfast was way overpriced at $27.
Great food, service and enjoyed our first time there, will recommend to others.
Waiter was excellent. Steak perfect
It was our wedding anniversary. They gave us a very nice dessert. The service was ho-hum. The waiter was pretty rude. He did not check on us during the course of the meal. Service and food were subpar, I would expect the same level of food & service at Applebee’s.
Extremely disappointed. We've been going here for Easter brunch for years and this year was stunningly bad. Half the food choices (no eggs benedict?!) were missing. The dessert table was laughably limited. Wait staff was very uneven. One young man tried hard; everyone else ignored us. And to top it off, when the bill came we were shocked by how much MORE expensive it was than last year, considering how little was offered. We won't be returning.
Our second time here while staying at the hotel. Came back for Easter brunch. It was worth it. Great service and excellent food. Love this place!
Good food! Great Service. Will be back for the Easter brunch.
Anniversary and it close to the house. Grandpa watched our little one while we had dinner. Service was great and the food pre
I felt like we were in a 3 1/2 star hotel restaurant, not a Hyatt Recency in Newport. It was too brite, casual and loud, even though it wasn't very crowded. Servers were nice and courteous, but construction jeans need to be replaced with more professional attire. The cheese platter is recommended especially if you pair with nice red wine. That was my best part of the meal. The entrees were mediocre. Creme
brulee was made just right, and that was my date's favorite parr of the meal.
The food was outstanding! Our Waiter, Julio, was very attentive. I had questions about some of the wine and without asking - he brought me two samples to help me decide. He went above and beyond great service!
Wow this restaurant is quite a find. We would never have gone to it (since it is in a hotel) if it wasn't part of Newport Beach Restaurant Week. The food was some of the best we have sampled at any restaurant in the area. The portions were so large we took home leftovers and had them for dinner the next day. The drinks menu was low priced, and offered plenty of selections. We now have a new favorite restaurant!
LOVE Shor!! The food is fantastic whether it is breakfast lunch or dinner!! We always spend New Years Eve at Shor for a much needed relaxing atmosphere after the Christmas madness. The wait staff is wonderful!! Never a bad attitude and always accommodating. Our New Years Eve dinner was off the chart! Perfect Filet, mashed potatoes and gravy does not get any better!! Ended the evening with Crème Brule, served as I had never seen. Thank you Shor for starting 2018 off to a perfect start.
Lovely and plentiful breakfast buffet. Barbara greets you warmly and our waiter Julio Guerrero is fantastic. Attentive, kind, considerate, knowledgeable. A nice assortment of fruits, meats, eggs, breaks, etc. Enjoy your dining experience with these professionals.
We had the Christmas brunch there after watching Star Wars
The service was outstanding
They had a great selection of cold sea food including shrimp, oysters, crab legs and claws that was outstanding
Hot buffet had good selection and deserts were good
Unlimited Champaign and mimosa were wonderful
Very nice meal with a nice setting. Got a great deal from Travelzoo for four people. Dessert was the best part especially the pumpkin dessert.
I got the travel zoo deal which included an appetizer, main course and dessert. I had the branzino and it was very good.
Food came 90 minutes after ordering. There were only 5 other occupied tables with parties of 2-3. It was a Saturday night so the kitchen should’ve been better staffed. The other diners looked just as miserable, as we all had a crazy long wait for our food. The server said they were having problems at the kitchen. They need to let us know on the get go that food service would be a problem then we could’ve gone elsewhere rather than leaving quite upset.
At a minimum the food should’ve been good, but even that was a fail! $130 for dinner for 3. Rubbery rib eye steak ($45), rancid ceviche
And chips, and an ahi bowl that was mostly rice. Dessert primarily pumpkin based. Not much options if you’re allergic to pumpkin. In n Out burger would’ve been preferable to what we had. Even for free, I will not come back.
Food was just OK. Nothing special. Wasn't bad nor great. This is not to say i wouldn't go here again. The ambience is ok and we were here for a concert. I would say if you're coming to see a concert at the Hyatt then it might be worth it due to convenience, but I wouldn't consider this place a destination in itself.
Thought we needed the rezzy - nope! Just a handful of folks for dinner on a Saturday night. Overall, disappointed with the food. Hyatt usually has really good restaurants; not so much here.
Caesar salad was somewhat flat in flavor. Steak was overcooked and rather tough. Not sure why they give you a small tub of chimichurri - it's tasty enough but totally overpowers the steak. We ordered fries instead of the mashed and asked for extra crispy. Nope - got whatever the cook wanted to make. The best part of the dinner was the yummy sourdough boule and the fennel butter that came with it.
Good thing they don't charge over-the-top prices!
