Shokudo - Honolulu
Pono, our server was amazing with wonderful service, patient explanations, and great sense of humor! Food was fantastic and it was not too crowded so it felt relaxed with a very positive ambiance.
Nous avons trouvé l’endroit bruyant. L’attente était longue... on a même cru qu’on nous avait oublié! Et la cuisine n’a rien d’exceptionnel!
The Lunch Box Special is The Best!!
It's a must to get a reservation. Once we checked in we were seated right away. Wait staff were very helpful and attentive. Food was soooo good! The food at shokudo never disappoints! Will definitely be back sooner than later.
Server was excellent
Personable and fun very attentive
Food was good
We ordered honey toast and was excellent
Good food presented warmly. Some dishes were more flavorful than others. Decor was starting to wear down a bit. It appeared to have been hit too hard by parties.
Great happy hour!!
Great food and service as always. I like to bring my mainland friends over.
We had an awesome birthday lunch here for my sister. It was her boyfriend's first time dining here and they did not dissapoint!
Always a great meal with a cool atmosphere.
A little too loud..but varies depending on other diners. Prices could line up better with portions and quality...bit too expensive...but not bad. Service is almost always great and attentive. If you've never been there...you need to make it a point to.
Not good for special occasion. I was told the day before that we would have the table for 2 hours. Our reservation was at 6 but got there a little early to take advantage of the happy hour and they told us it’s 2 hours from the time we sit. Meanwhile, the place was empty when we first arrived.
Went on google to do a reservation and it was very helpful same day reservation. By the time I got there for a party of 7 at 7:30p, one of the stalk saw me sitting and waiting outside and came up to me if I’m waiting for more of my party and I said yes and asked for my name if I made reservations and he said we already have your table set up and offered me to come in and wait because it was windy outside. So from the start, customer service was great. My party was all here and our waitress was very patient with us because we needed to do separate checks and helped us with that. We ordered a bunch of different food and the staff really was on it, they checked up on us and refilled our drinks and over all great service. We will definitely be coming back, thank you for making our little reunion memorable for us because we had a great time there!
Food was pretty good. Service a little lacking Prices ok
Went for happy hour but was not too impressed. Ordered the famous toast desert but it took too long to get so we cancelled order payed our check & left.
Teri was a great server! Everything tasted amazing as well!
It was very AWESOME!
The entrance to the restaurant had chairs all with ripped upholstery available for patrons waiting to enter. Although wait seating is appreciated, the initial impression is not pleasant. Prior to the restaurant opening, an employee came to set down an entrance welcome mat which was also tattered with the corners turning upward. Some floor tiles around the bar area were chipped.
Upon being seated, the laminated menus presented were 'dog-eared' and extremely worn. The food values are fair and presentation was fine.
When the reservation was made, it was noted that we were celebrating a friend's birthday. Years ago, Shokudo offered a small complimentary portion of their honey toast for birthdays but not this time.
Based on the overall ambiance, I would NOT recommend coming here for a special occasion.
The menu selection is fantastic. They have so many options for any kind of sushi eater. I was pleased to be sat immediately when I checked in for my reservation for a party of two. A table of three sat right after us. It was a little disappointing for the amount of time it took the food to reach our table (30 minutes after we ordered). By then, the table of three that was sat after us had already gotten all of their food and drinks. I was also not the greatest fan of the service. Food was just dropped and the server walked away without presenting what we ordered and/or asking how everything was. Perhaps he was busy. I do however, appreciate the diligence and friendly attitudes of the host staff. They acknowledged us when we came in and when we left.
Food was very tasty and prices were reasonable, even the sushi. Seems like the last few times the service was slow but friendly. Don't know if it's the kitchen prep that takes long, and everyone's food came at different times so it was awkward waiting to eat. Even dessert took a long time in coming - recommend the bread pudding over the honey toast but you can't share as much.
Food was delicious but too late serve
It was a nice experience with all our favorites!
Food was great and reasonable prices!
First ones to sit.. not the first one to get food? Said it was under cooked and has to be redone. Funny because when it came out, it was still under cooked!
Last minute Valentines dinner. Thanks to Open Table was easy to find a restaurant with open reservations. Haven’t been to Shokudo in a couple years place looked the same which was good. But the menu was smaller and they got rid of their signature drinks which was a bummer. But the staff went out of their way to make the dining experience a great one
The worse ever, never again.
Went there to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Our waiter was awesome took our order promptly. Food was delicious especially the desert. Great place to go for dinner or drinks and pupus. Forgot to take a pic of the Agedashi Tofu, Chicken Katsu, and Spicy tuna roll
Happy hour, good deals. Unfortunately, char siu dish not included on Happy hour menu.
Even though we showed up with an hour and a 1/2 of time, we still ended up being 15 minutes late leaving. My husband had a conference to go to and it cost him time because they didn't seem to be able to prepare Even though we used open table for our reservation. The food was delicious and our server was friendly, just don't plan to go here when you have any time constraint.
Great Service by Rao and delicious food! We traveled from Kahuku to grind here for our date night. Well worth it!
Great service. Great food. Chill vibe. Just 👌🏻
It was overall good food great waiter great just felt though uneasy as management I guess or the people in the front kept coming to our table I felt like they didn’t want us there idk can’t really explain it I felt like they thought we were gonna done and dash or something
Good happy hour both drinks/food. The staff is always so friendly and attentive!
I really liked the food and the server was great! The building and ambience had a lot of character. It was charming, but some area could maybe use some updating
I really enjoyed my food and our waiter was very friendly, only downside is I told them we were coming in for a birthday, and I asked if they could write happy birthday on our plate with either chocolate sauce or caramel, and nothing... even the hostess told the man who showed us to our seats to let our waiter know we were here for a birthday. I didn’t expect anything free of course but I at least hoped for our waiter to say happy birthday... it’s not that big of a deal but being our first time to this restaurant and hearing all the hype from friends and yelp, I had higher expectations.
Go food and service. Some dishes are unique to Shokudo.
It was okay, food was good service was good. It is a great place to eat and we didn't feel rushed as it was fairly busy for a week night. Great to be able to make a reservation online..will use this service more often if available.
Took out of town family to Shokudo. The restaurant is run-down since last time I was there last year. My guest was complained about the rest room was dirty and smelly and need major update. The food was Ok and small portion for the price. The service was slow even not busy at 5:30 pm.
Always enjoy having lunch at Shokudo; love the bento lunches and the agedashi tofu. Generous portions. Our server yesterday was very solicitous to my 90-year old mom.
Went during happy hour for our anniversary. Ambience was terrible with no music or lighting. Waiter was not aware of any specials or the “shared drinks” and the hand rolls were pricey for what you get. Honey toast on the happy hour menu was the same price as regular menu. We usually love shokudo but this visit was not good at all.
