Shiro of Japan was founded on the tradition of “true” Japanese hibachi steak house, a concept that introduced America to the cooking art form known as teppanyaki. In Japanese, teppan means an “iron plate” or a “steel sheet,” and yaki, “stir-fried food” or “stir-frying.” The teppanyaki and hibachi styles, come together to create a mouth-watering form of cuisine that continues to increase in popularity in the New York region and across the nation.
Note, when making an online reservation please specify Hibachi or our main dining room.
We told the waiter about my husband food allergy which is Mushrooms. There was still mushroom for the hibachi. When we told the cook that we told the waiter about the food allergy, the cook got upset. He got an attitude.
We sat outside on the patio, it was absolutely beautiful! The food was great! Very nice presentation and nice portions! My leche martini hit the spot! Love this place & we will definitely be back soon. Hidden Gem in Glendale NY
As always we had a great time with tasty food and great service.
Always a great place for dinner with the family. Food was delicious and the staff was polite.
Everything was wonderful except for the gyoza that my daughter didn’t like or eat...tasted like rubber...wish they would have taken it off the bill considering we barley touched it...but other than that Daniel and our chef were a delight...
We were celebrating my father-in-law's 94th birthday. We had a great time and so did he! And we took advantage of their special birthday offer of a $25 gift certificate and free birthday dessert. We would recommend this restaurant for a birthday celebration any time! When we were leaving, the manager even followed us outside just to wish him a happy birthday one more time.
Awesome great show
Food wasn’t good
Only the shrimps was good
I recommend that
Shiro is my family’s favorite restaurant. The food is always delicious.
This place is great. Food is really good and the cooking is so much fun to watch
The food was not as good as it usually is...
It's a fun place to bring a large group to celebrate a special occasion.
They sure give you lots of food! I took home half my meal and finished it the next day. Great.
Only thing I did not like was the onion consume. I guess I am used to the good French style with cheese on top. Shrimp were great and I always like their lettuce salad with ginger dressing.
The chef was amazing! Put on a great show while cooking our food!
Great food, good service, good tricks by the chef, good portion of food.
We treated the kids to a fun Thanksgiving break night out and we all had a wonderful time. We especially enjoyed the asparagus, lamb and shrimp.
The drinks I think were the best part. The food itself could use some work but it’s not the worst I’ve had. It just doesn’t compare to some other great hibachi spots and the price makes you think it should.
Having been to several Japanese restaurants Shiro was a disappointment because of the smell of the restaurant. I would never recommend this restaurant.
This place has changed. Not as entertaining and food quality is meh. Also, very expensive.
Service was great Food was tasty. Although my allergies were considered I still got sick afterwards. It’s unfortunate that the mushrooms touch everything and I guess I might never be able to enjoy hibachi again.
Always a pleasure coming here! Food is great and servers are always prompt
Overall great atmosphere. I only wish that my chef was as enthusiastic as the chefs next to us. They really put on a show. I was hoping my kids would have liked our show but the chefs demeanor was a little off. As if he really didn’t want to make a great show of his own.
Shiro was underwhelming when it comes to ambiance, you get to your hibachi table and the grill was less then spotless, had food sauce and food debri everywhere, luckily the chef cleans the grill before he started cooking or I would've left. The service was ok but nothing spectacular, the biggest disappointment was the food, not horrible but nothing I would write home about, definitely would not go back, it was a blah experience overall.
The hibachi chef was amazing! Very friendly and interactive. The other staff accommodated and sang to my friend for his birthday! We had a great time and loved the dinner for two deal!
Beautiful place, charismatic chefs and delicious food
You can never go wrong at Shiro. They are very kind and accommodating always. They truly make any occasion special and the food is fun and delicious. Come with an appetite or you will have left over’s.
Wonderful dinner, wonderful staff, great night
This restaurant deserves all the accolades it receives! Beautiful ambience. Lovely people. Excellent service and delicious food! Not to mention the show of watching our food being prepared in our presence. Everyone enjoyed from the beginning until the end.
Great food! Great experience!
I was so disappointed with the food. First time I ever had this experience with Shiro and I’ve been going to Shiro for over 15 years on Long Island. The noodles tasted bad, I think because of the sauce or how the grill was cleaned but they were terrible.
How do you mess up noodles?? Or veggies?!
The chicken was over cooked. So basically tough hibachi pieces of rubber.
Our waiter was not attentive at all. The person helping pack our food had their hands all over the inside of the foil containers.
Just not a good experience and I severely doubt I’ll be coming back there again.
We had a great time. The Chef was great, funny and it was very tasty. The only thing that I would say is that they did not provide one person with fried rice (the waitress misheard) and two specials came with wine which we found out too late that we were supposed to get. The downsides to going out on a holiday. But the food was delish!
Very nice mother’s Day celebration- our chef was very entertaining and the table had a great time.
Great service, great food, overall a really wonderful experience. Thank you to the staff!
Great atmosphere kids loved it. Service was great i recommend it
Awesome birthday dinner!!
The fried calamari was amazing! The service was great & the seating was quick!
Long wait for a standard hibachi. Food was as expected service puts on the same show nothing new.
The food had no taste only lots of butter and soy sauce.
The cook wasn't entertaining at all. He looked like he just woke up.
We really enjoyed our visit. My family and I are planning another visit soon.
The ambiance was amazing the staff was great the noise level was moderate but the food was the most disturbing I've ever had not to mention the amount of money in which i had to pay for the food it was unacceptable. The chef was boring and the food taste burnt the wait staff and the ambiance made my experience bearable.
