Shiro of Japan was founded on the tradition of “true” Japanese hibachi steak house, a concept that introduced America to the cooking art form known as teppanyaki. In Japanese, teppan means an “iron plate” or a “steel sheet,” and yaki, “stir-fried food” or “stir-frying.” The teppanyaki and hibachi styles, come together to create a mouth-watering form of cuisine that continues to increase in popularity in the New York region and across the nation.
Note, when making an online reservation please specify Hibachi, our Sushi Bar Dining Room or Japanese Garden. We also have Tatami Rooms and a large Tatami Room perfect for parties or meetings.

Food was ok. We do hibachi about 6-8 times a year and there are places that serve better tasting food. I ordered salmon and the piece provided was pitiful, probably the tail.
Busser asked my daughter what she was drinking, my daughter said lemonade, the busser took the glass and never returned. The bill charged us for a second drink. I inquired and the busser tried to say that she brought her another glass. First, she should have asked if she wanted more and said refills are not free. Second, she never gave her a second drink! So they removed the cost.
Been going there for over 25 years. Always loved and trusted their food to be amazing. Although the service was top notch as usual, this last time the food wasnt as great. Soup felt watered down and the steak was fatty (never was ever before). Did they change ownership/chefs?
We stopped in for lunch on Tuesday after shopping at the mall. We were in the mood for sushi so I checked open table for sushi restaurants in the area. Based on the reviews, we chose this restaurant and requested a table in the sushi bar. We had a hard time finding items on the sushi menu that appealed to us. We eat sushi very frequently. This menu was very limited and most of their specialty roles were made with “jake” (imitation crab and mayo salad). We ordered a tuna roll and salmon sushi. We also ordered hibachi noodles as an appetizer. The fish seemed fresh and the noodles were tasty, but greasy. For us, it wasn’t worth the price.
Food and service was not good. I had to walk to the front counter to pay. Chef was sloppy and rushing when cooking the food. No one asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. I don't go to Shiro's often, but I do look forward to going when I get a chance. This visit was a big let down.
I had 9:00pm reservation but was not seated until 9:40. The hostess seem that he was very overwhelmed and did not know how to seat groups at the tables. The waiter was very inexperienced and could not handle his tables properly. Sorry, usually my wife and I don't have these issues at Shiro.
I had lunch box chicken tempora and California roll, miso soup, salad
Service was excellent. everything was great, except the chicken was quite dry.
The soup was the best Miso soup I have ever had. the California
roll was average (but the wasabi mustard was toned down to missing the bite I expect.
If the chicken wasn't so dry, I would have rated much higher.
I've been going there for over 20 years, so we love it.. but this most recent visit the food was not up to normal high quality. Could have been the chef we got ?? Fried rice which is usually AWESOME was bland... the filet mignon wasnt nearly as good as it usually it. I'm assuming this is a one time not great experience. Will absolutely go back and hope its as good as it usually is.
A large family group was there finishing up but apparently couldn't do math or control their children. Management did nothing to get them to quiet down. Tables were dirty with large visible bits of food stuck in the track between the griddle top and the table. Took almost 10 minutes to be acknowledged when I was standing at the hostess podium. Food was ok but not great for the price seems like they charge $5 more per plate than other hibachi restaurants and at 4.50 extra per fried rice I thought was excessive.
we have been at shiros many times and always left happy.....this time with six people in our party and nobody touched there meals not the manager nor the waitress asked is there a problem...it was horrible and there was a smell......we might go there one more time in the feature to see if it was an isolated intended .......
We went to celebrate my daughters recital night! Our chef was so funny and fun.. interacted wthe kids so much! He was amazing! The food was delish and a good amount! Waitstaff was attentive and we met a wonderful family that sat at the same table and that was fun.
