Several cuts of prime and dry aged meats, a diverse wine list of rare and contemporary vintages, modern and traditional side dishes and homemade desserts are available. We have the seafood you would expect at the shore and an ocean fresh raw bar. Our highly trained bartenders serve a variety of domestic and imported specialty beers, inventive cocktails and other liquors. Whether it is an after work or dinner drink at our bar or a meal to celebrate and remember, Shipwreck Point is the destination of the sophisticated diner.
For and service were great definitely worth the cost
Big drop-off from our usual first-rate experience at Shipwreck Point. Both cups of coffee were tepid at best; service was a significant notch down from past levels. We asked for the remainder of our steak to be placed in a take-home container, and it was thrown out. We are disappointed that one of the few consistently top-quality restaurants at the Shore has deteriorated so much so quickly. We will give it another shot, but at these prices there's little room for maneuver.
Took almost an hour past our reservation to be seated. We had two steaks cooked medium, one was medium well one was medium rare. Tuna tar tar was mushy. Extremely noisy very hard to have a conversation. Took very long to get drinks, said they couldn’t find any more alcohol for the margarita. Took 20 min just to get a glass of water.
Even though the wait was long even after making a reservation the meal was outstanding.
The noise level is very high. Can’t hold s conversation without yelling to the person next to you
Used to love this place. Food was unacceptable. Cold, tough steak. Sides had no taste. Server and manager tried their best but were overwhelmed by a half full restaurant. Needs a dose of energy and a look back at what made it an outstanding restaurant.
We went for Easter. Understand there is always a fixed menu - but this fixed menu. Lots wrong with it.
1. No pasta options
2 ran out of prime rib - how is that even possible!
3 super expensive prices and the scallop dish only had 3 scallops
4 waiter was AWFUL and inattentive. But when he did actually come over to our table - he smelled like smoke
5. Meal was supposed to have mashed potatoes - it was mashed parsnip ( very popular veggie - not). Just think about that experience when u take a big forkful of what u believe to be mashed potatoes but it’s actually parsnips - NOT GOOD.
WE ain’t coming back. And I’ll let everyone I know - this place isn’t worth it.
Easter menu was great! Pleas put than limoncello cake on your permanent menu!
I enjoyed my dinner but was put off by the fact that as an advertised steak grill they were out of one of their mainstay. At 6:30 they were already out of their 20 oz rib eye. . A surprising situation for a Saturday night . I was disappointed but my substitute was fine
So disappointing. I had been here several years ago and had a nice meal. This time not so much. Everything on the menu is nickel and dime. My son wanted his steak topped with cherry peppers (as listed on the menu for an extra charge) and a bowl of jarred, sliced peppers arrived on the side. The bernaise sauce was a thick, bland dish of congealed butter (also extra charge). The worst part was that I ordered my forty dollar steak medium plus to medium well. It arrived rare. I sent it back and picked at my bowl of brussel sprouts while everyone else ate. It came back and was still rare!! The best thing about the restaurant was that they did not charge me for my steak.
Pleasant server. Food was pricey, and nothing exciting- we are ok with paying for great food but everything was bland. My husband ordered his steam medium and it had to be sent back and was still very rare even when it came back. Scallops he ordered with the steak were the most flavorful part of our meal but they seemed small for the price. Truffle Mac and cheese was fine but not memorable. Beet salad could have been good but the cheese was too bland - it just lacked something.
Food was awful. Filet Mignon was tough. Food needed salt, tasteless
Went to Ship Wreck Point during restaurant week, Normally this SWP has been good in the past. This time, we ordered “Surf and Turf” off the special menu and their was no turf. Supposedly per the server crab was in the sauce. The steak was extremely tough to chew, all 4 in my party ordered the steak with all dishes being tough. The sauce was a cream sauce with sliced potato’s...no “crab”. Ordered medium rare and steaks came out more on the rare side.
This place is too pricey to be “hit or miss”...not a good experience.
Food was ok. My guest had to go to bathroom twice before leaving. She thought it was the bisque. Noise level very loud. Acoustics were bad. Place was smaller than I thought. No rush to return
Food and service were both excellent! I would highly recommend!!
The food was overpriced and the steaks were chewy. We were charged $ 12.00 for 4 small glasses of coke.
Service/server was excellent, food was cooked as ordered, came out within a good time frame. Our table had pork, surf andturf, seafood bisque and a tuna appetizer, all was delicious. Nice wine selection
Our table seemed to be in the Bermuda Triangle but was in the middle of the dining room. Our server, Chelsea, seemed to have more important tables to attend to. We ended up communicating our needs through assistants, and bus staff, and that didn’t help much. Ok, so service was poor. Had a drink at the bar, a MacCallan 12 yo. Couldn’t get another, because they had no more in house ??? My buddy would have liked another Stella, but instead his glass remained empty for an hour. Our dinners came out tepid- that’s generous, and 2 Filet Mignon were reversed—- the rare was butterflied instead of the m well.
Basically our dinner was a perfect storm of a comedy of errors. The manager took 10 minutes to approach us knowing we were unhappy and proceeded to try to make a deal: I can give you a free dessert or take 20% off the bill, or you can choose door # 3– I take the dinner off the tab. Even that took 20 minutes. A real shame that no owner was there tonight, but it was obvious the way everything unfolded. I was always taught to not use the word “never”, but I will NEVER return!!!
Food was cold. So disappointed. Service was erratic because they were training staff.
We went here restaurant week and the food was excellent. Service was outstanding.
We received our entrees after waiting 1-1/2 hours. One meal was cold
Even a good restaurant has a bad night and unfortunately for us this was Shipwreck Point’s one. Should have known when I received a call at 5:30 that they wanted to change my 5:45 reservation to 7:30. They claimed to be overbooked. When I balked they said well they could squeeze us in at 6:30 which I accepted. To my surprise, when I arrived, the dining room was half empty and remained so during my meal. I suspect there was a problem with the kitchen as the dishes we ordered the seasonings were off. Though the plating was lovely, when the entrees were served, though I ordered a beef and swordfish, they brought a beef and chicken. They apologetically returned the entrees to the kitchen, it was then another 15 minutes till we got our meals. In the end, this usually good restaurant just had a bad night.
Wonderful Jersey Shore restaurant week dinner. Steak ordered medium rare was undercooked, very rare, but tasted great! Not a big deal, but probably doesn’t deserve 5 stars because of that.
Everything started off fine then our table was completely ignored. Our food was okay but we’ve definitely had better from here.
Too loud, food quality not work the price. Disappointing pick for our 1 year wedding anniversary.
We were excited to try this restaurant, and since it was restaurant week we thought it was the perfect time to do it. We had a 6:30 reservation and waited over 30 minutes to be seated. While we were waiting we heard that the kitchen was backed up. I guess that was why there were 2 empty tables. We eventually sat at one of them. When our appetizers came, my husband was served his soup with no spoon. We had to wait awhile for that. Then he was served his steak and never brought a steak knife. Our friend’s both chose the swordfish which was a tiny piece of
fish with nothing else on the plate, just fish. We tried to order another pomegranate martini (an advertised speciality deink on the menu) but were told they ran out of pomegranate juice. They also ran out of one of the 3 choices for dessert. This was the most poorly run restaurant week restaurant we have ever been to. Thoroughly unimpressed. They could have had a new customer in us,but we will avail ourselves to the multitude of other great restaurants in town. This will be a one and done.
Booming restaurant with really good food presented very well. The restaurant week menu was great with several choices. Service was very pleasant and prompt. Noise level was high but didn't distract from the meal. Will look forward to going again.
We were looking forward to going to shipwreck but we’re sadly disappointed. We went during restaurant week as the menu looked good. Two of us ordered the duck BLT as an appetizer. The duck was over cooked and the other components didn’t seem to blend well together. My baked clams were very good. Unfortunately the surf and turf was disappointing. We all had trouble cutting the steak. It was that tough. There was a little sauce with crab in it on top of the steak. That was the surf. The Brussel sprouts were ok . The potatoes were delicious. We had a chocolate cheese cake and key lime pie for dessert. Neither was very good. Our cocktails were15.00 each which I thought a bit pricey compared to the 12.00 or less we pay in other nearby restaurants.
Our waiter was cordial and attentive. All in all a very disappointing meal. We will not be back.
The food was amazing and our server Mike was wonderful. I will definitely be back and have already told many friends about this restaurant.
Visited here for restaurant week spring 2019 really enjoyed it. Apps and desert were fantastic, entrees were very good!
A DISAPPOINTMENT SINCE WE WERE LAST THERE -WE WERE TOLD THE KITCHEN STAFF WAS NEW AND IT REFLECTED IN THE FOOD . WE CAME FOR RESTAURANT WEEK AND SELECTED FROM THE MENU OFFERED . MY ASIAN SALAD HAD NO TASTE AND NO SIDE DRESSING COULD BE OFFERED. THE STEAKS WERE DRY ALONG WITH THE BRUSSELS SPROUTS WHICH WERE WELL OVER COOKED - WE HAD TO LOOK FOR OUR SHRIMP WHICH WAS PRESENTED IN A "SHREDDED STYLE". THE ONLY 2 HIGHLIGHTS WERE THE WINE AND OUR GREAT SERVER- DESIREE!!
We have dined here on many occasions & after this experience I would prefer not to return. Food was average at best & service was poor. I am happy to pay the prices they charge if my food is good but the steak was tough & the sides were nothing to brag about.
this used be be one of our go to places for a special dinner. Unfortunately, this past visit was certainly not worth the price. Our waitress was TERRIBLE.
I am writing this in hopes that the owner will investigate his staff. The waitress, manager, and bartender do not want the restaurant to succeed. From the moment we were met with a locked door and a sny comment for having a reservation, as well as being the only customers , we felt unwelcomed. All three workers disappeared for large gaps of time leaving us as the only customers, feeling uneasy and incapable of asking for assistance. Dishes not cleared, drinks not refilled, and awkwardness prompted us to leave without having dinner. After eating salad and appetizers, we felt so uncomfortable, we left. We are new local residents thinking it would be our go-to restaurant, however as long as that staff remains, we will not return. It appeared that the employees were accustomed to doing this to customers because they actually told open table we did not show, so they would not be accountable. That is manipulative and I really feel for the owner, as people speak highly of him. Perhaps things will change and we can try it again.
The food was very good. The room was rather Tight. Wait staff had some difficulty getting around our table to get to the other tables in the room. Waitress had some issues getting us our drink order, had to ask for spoons for our French onion soup and for plates for appetizers. Her personality more than made up for it but for the money I have little patience.
After going for nearly 10 years, my wife and I were disappointed in the food. The appetizers,
Drunk scallops and tuna tartar, were very good. The main courses, scrimp and scallops with pasta and
cod special, were a disappointment considering our past experience.
The music was very annoying since it went on and off continuously for almost 2 hours straight.
Excellent from start to finish.
Had a great evening at Shipwreck Point. We have eaten here a few times and are never disappointed. Great steaks and seafood. Appetizers, salads and side excellent too.
Was just ok
Steaks were very good. We had them crusted with blue cheese which was excellent. Salads and Side dishes were also good. Service was very poor at best. We had a 7 pm reservation and between being seated late and very slow service, we ended up finishing dinner at 10 pm! In their defense, it was busy when we arrived but it slowed down considerably.
