**Complimentary Valet Friday and Saturday
Very elegant place- service was good they tried for sure. Food was very good, had the 6oz filet cooked to perfection. Mac and Cheese side was to dye for.
We have enjoyed eating at Shipwreck on numerous occasions but will not be going back. The service was excellent but our meal was terrible. How you ruin a steak is beyond me. I hope they can get back on track.
Not this time bad experience
Was my favorite place down the shore
Food was amazing...
The ribeye special was perfect !
Drinks done right & our server Peter was great
It was my boyfriends birthday & we traveled hour & half to come to eat here. Worth the trip
We had been wanting to visit this restaurant. They were participating in restaurant week and we took advantage of it. We were a party of three and ended up ordering the entire restaurant week menu. Everyone enjoyed their selections and they also offer a wine special. The restaurant sits across the street from the Manasquan inlet with large windows to take in the view and our waitress was excellent. We will be back!
Realizing that each night could be different, we just didn’t experience the issues that some reviewers outlined. Service was prompt and attentive (Taylor was great!) and the food was delicious with excellent beef (ribeye, hangar, short rib) and fish (cod). My only request- please get some big ice for the great bourbon choices you have.
Don’t waste your time/money. Took one hour for our appetizers to arrive. Food was terrible. Super loud where you could barely hear the person next to you. Packed us into their one dining area like sardines. Wait staff very friendly and apologetic. We will never go back here.
The meal was subpar, service was slow, place was so noisy you could not hear. I would never go back or recommend it to anyone.
I come here about 6-7 times a year, change of pace from all pizza parlors and fish restaurants in the area. Up until last Friday night I'd say it wasn't bad but now it's just plan terrible.
Even before we ordered there were signals this wasn't going to be a good experience. We were shown to a table that not only rocked on its legs but tend to spin around; we moved ourselves. Ordinarily there is subdued lighting but tonight the lights were full up, like at a night ball game. I asked the waiter why so bright, he said a lot of folks had been complaining that their meat wasn't' cooked like they asked for so they had put up the lights in order to show the customers they were wrong, just couldn't see well in the dark (?) Hmmm 1. We had an 8PM reservation and we asked to see the New Jersey Shore Restaurant Week menu (it was restaurant week), we were told the menu ended at 7PM. Hmmm 2. I asked for a JD on the rocks; I eventually got a glass of ice that someone at the bar had managed to spill some JD into, more of a refreshing summer drink than a cocktail. Hmmm 3. We ordered the French onion soup, it came in the work's smallest crock, more like a coffee cup than a crock; oddly enough the soup spoon was also down sized to match (I guess because a regular soup spoon won't have gotten into the crock's mouth). Hmmm 4. The second course was worse yet. I order the 8 oz filet, medium; I got what had to be a 6 oz filet blackened on the outside and till bleeding on the inside! The carrot "accompaniments" were raw and tasteless while the garlic broccoli rabe was mostly stems and lacked even the faintest hint of garlic.
We had enough, check please!
Oh, I forgot to mention the they no longer serve their signature pop overs, doughy rolls are now available, "we're trying something new" I was told.
It's disappointing but perhaps not surprising, all good things must come to an end and so does the attraction of Shipwreck Point.
The 1 star is for the parking valet.
I ordered stuff clams for an app all it consisted of was breadcrumbs, no clams at all even diced, no flavor. My fish was good and my pumpkin cheesecake. Food was unremarkable.
Both tables on either side of us were wobbly. One couple changed tables.
Really inexcusable in a high end restaurant.
Everything was great
The food was excellent. Our server was
Stopped in for quick dinner before a show. Very good . will return for a more leisurely meal . Beautiful place.
Too Expensive, value isn't there, too loud and too long
A simple porterhouse for 2 ordered medium rare was overcooked. Of course it could have been corrected if anyone ever came over to our table to check on things. We were seated and drink orders taken, 10 minutes later 3 other servers had asked if anyone had come to the table. When we finally ordered, it was another 20 minutes before a food runner came with salads. Another 20 minutes before a soup that was ordered came and then dinners came immediately after that by a food runner. Our waiter NEVER CAME BACK TO THE TABLE. Ordered items were missing and never came. When we were almost done with dinner, he finally showed up and when told items were missing he gave some BS that the kitchen was out and no one told him. To make up for it, "desserts are on the house." The final straw was that we were charged for the desserts. We paid and left because we just wanted to get out. Several other tables in the room we were in had similar complaints. If there are problems in the kitchen he's a news flash...tell the table that you are having kitchen issues and let them know instead of leaving them there twiddling their thumbs. No one in management ever came around to check on things either. The poor kid filling the water glasses (after I had to get up and look for the water pitchers) was apologizing because he was around the tables and knew it was bad.
Do not go to this establishment. Nearly every aspect of our dining experience was a mess. They are disorganized, overpriced and not good at the restaurant game. The website, which we had checked out in advance, had an entirely different menu on it. We went they're expecting that menu. First sign of trouble.
They brought out a $16 shrimp cocktail plate with three shrimp. We sent it back. They forgot to bring out salads; never served a course to all of the table members at the same time. The wait staff and manager that we spoke to are frustrated with the way things are going at Shipwreck Point. They expressed concerns about the ownership micro managing staff members that know what they're doing.
This place is way too expensive, given the competition in the area. You would do well to spend your money elsewhere. Our dining experience was certainly a shipwreck. All of the members of our party expect this place to be closed before too long unless changes take place and they get their act together.
Anniversary
That’s just the beginning- when we first got there ordered 110.00 bottle of wine making sure there would be a 2nd because we would be ordering it. Guess what-no 2nd bottle! Had to order another wine which came, was put on table Waited another 15 minutes for it to be opened.
Our appetizer was excellent as were our scallop entree and filet. The vegetables that accompanied our entrees were undercooked and could not be cut. Desserts were wonderful and the wine list very diverse and affordable.
Steak was not cooked to order and sent back 2 times to get it right.
Waiter was unattentive and looked overwhelmed.
Too loud!
Last visit here I had great dinner and waiter, which is why I returned.
I would try this again, when it’s not as crowded.
Just about the worst possible experience you can have . Our 39 th anniversary dinner was not to be at Shipwreck point . I Jane never ever in my life gotten up and walked out of a restaurant . But after 45 minutes of nothing we were forced to leave ( not even sure they cared ) . But sometimes things are serendipitous ..... we. Left there went around the corner and found ( our first time there ) Danny’s Bistro ...Food was amazing and service impeccable . My suggestion to Shipwreck is take your staff out to dinner at Danny’s bistro and see how professional and courteous they are . Service was amazing . We all understand that things happen ...but when it’s not handled properly after that it kind of leaves a sour taste . No more shipwreck point ...or Grill for that matter and we were years long customers . I used to recommend this restaurant all the time . Never again
Always a good meal, got to try out the updated menu - happy to see scallops back as a main dish, bacon app was good too.
The food was average and the prices were very high. Ordered lobster and was told would come with a side and then notified it did not and then overcharged for a vegetable. Service was slow and mistakes were made.
Wayyyyyyyyyy overpriced with a limited menu. I’ve eaten here before, and it was expensive. Now it’s crazy and not much to choose from.
My husband and I had a very nice dinner. The food was very good. It was a slow night only one other couple. The light where quite bright and there was no music playing. Is all we heard was the football game from the bar. For the amount of money we spent I had wanted it to be way more romantic
You can never go wrong having dinner at Shipwreck Point. Between the ambiance, excellent food, drinks and fantastic service we always make Shipwreck Point our go to place for special occasions or just a night out. The owners Richard and Terry are two most friendliest people we have ever met and make us feel at home every time we have dinner here. You will definitely not be disappointed!
Warning, do not eat at this restaurant, service is terrible unless you have 3 hours to wait for a meal. Overpriced and horrible s experience, you will get divorced if you go there for an anniversary.
Food was very average. For the prices you pay you would expect for great food and service. Service was horrible they took 20 mins to take our drink orders. Everyone in the whole place was frustrated with the poor service. Don’t waste your time at this place.

Haven’t seen my ate-daughter in years and now she’s married. Treated them to dinner.
After one hour we were told that it was a problem and then our dinner food would be next in line to be prepared. I got up paid the bill for the appetizers and walk out without much concern from the staff at all or the offer to cover my drinks or anything else that we had it was a disaster
Been eating here for about 5 years always amazing. This visit was terrible something must be wrong in the kitchen. My clams on the half shell came out submerged in melted ice cubes. My tuna dish had nothing in it that was on the menu except the tuna. Totally different dish. My wife’s pork chop was supposed to be medium well. Instead it was undercooked. Just about raw close to the bone! Used to be a great restaurant no idea what happened but a total disappointment and wast of my time and money!
The food was phenomenal! I had the summer Grilled Peach salad which was delicious, with the perfect amount of dressing and goat cheese (not too much) and the pistachios added a perfect crunch. My husband had the Caesar salad with anchovies and raved about the freshness! For my meal I had the Tuna, prepared rare and it was quite possibly the best tuna I've ever had! It was served over a puree of carrots (?) and baby bok choy... so good! My husband had the NY Strip and it was perfectly cooked and thoroughly enjoyed. As accompaniments, we got the long hot peppers and the mushrooms and onions. The long hots were nice and hot but served in a little too much oil... could have done without the pool of oil on the plate! The mushrooms and onions were perfect! Our only complaint was the noise level - you could barely have a conversation and had to listen closely to hear the waiter speak. Perhaps it's the tin ceiling? The bar seemed quieter (but was also less crowded with only a few guests at the time). Overall a wonderful meal and we will return!!
My husbands steak was tough full of fat and grizzle and based on the price of $45.00 it was totally unacceptable. NY prices without the quality. The bacon sauce was very sweet. The Brussels sprouts were supposed to be roasted however they were blanched and hard. No flavor. The filet mignonette I had was slightly overdone with no flavor either
My wife’s birthday bartenders excellent servers outstanding and all courses from appetizers to dessert were fantastic our 5th time back
Apparently the executive chef quit but that is something we should have known from the start. I am a set expectations type of person so if my wife, her friend, and I knew that we would have been more OK with sitting down at 8:30pm and not getting our main meal until 10:30pm. Also, the chef leaving has nothing to do with the lack of service we received that evening. Case in point, we were seated and no one showed up to our table until 20 min after we were there. Usually I will get up to get someone but I was so frustrated I wanted to see how long it would take to have someone come over. Usually this place is great but I was severely disappointed in the meal as well as the service this night.
Servers were good but kitchen staff obviously overwhelmed and ill-prepared. We went there on Friday evening and left after waiting 2 hours for our entrees. We were not the only customers with excessive wait times for entrees. Restaurant is in a great location but as other reviewers noted is very noisy which one could overlook if everything else is up to par. Avoid until management gets their act together.
Our party of four was promptly seated for our 6:00 reservation. Service was prompt and attentive until our appetizers arrived. We had to ask for popovers Our dinners did not arrive together. The Béarnaise sauce I ordered for my filet mignon was cool and gelatinous; I sent it back The sides were served family style without serving spoons. The mushrooms she did not return to see how we were faring. We ordered dessert and were on the verge of canceling it because it took so long to arrive. There did not seem to be any front of house management at all. While I’m sure this restaurant won’t suffer as a result of this review, it’s so disappointing that the establishment doesn’t care that service is as important as food quality. I’m not impressed.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent.
Service was slow. The lobster tails were overdone and not worth the $72 price tag. My husband had the steak and it was good. The location and views are great but overall a disappointment.
