Had a wonderful dinner here. The restaurant is a little dark but that’s ok. The beet salad was excellent and my husband had the fried calamari which was sooo good. it was gluten free and better than most calamari. We both had steaks which were cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor. Highly recommend this place!
The surf and turf special on Sunday, 9/15/19 was an embarrassment. Tiny portion, steak tasted like it was boiled and horrible presentation. It has been a while since I had been at the restaurant, and will have a difficult time returning.
Tasty food with options for all food tastes. Inside dining and bar atmosphere was energetic and fun. Lovely outside dining option but the view (of a grass hill/highway/parking lot) ruins it. Hopefully once the construction equipment is removed someone landscapes the hill and put seasonal plantings and lighting such that the outside seating is more esthetically pleasing and better matches the great food.
Moms 92nd Birthday
I didn’t realize that music was played all night until 10pm when I made the reservation for 6 of us. We could not hear each other at all. We were going to walk out and go somewhere else but they sat us near the back this time so it was better. Still too loud. So we won’t be back on a Thursday night
Shipwreck Grill doesn't look like much from the outside. There's basically a heavy construction storage yard next to the parking lot. The outside decor is reminiscent of the fried clam joint, not a fine restaurant. Inside is a different story....classy, romantic and welcoming. Nice, varied menu. Fair prices compared to the area. Excellent, young servers. We'd definitely return. Music was a bit loud for us, as seems to be the norm (maybe we're just getting old). We both had fish, the Pistachio Crusted Group and the grilled Salmon. Both were done perfectly and nicely presented. Dessert was Coconut Creme Brule' with coconut ice cream and a luscious dollop of heavy coconut whipped cream.
Outstanding. Susan our server was friendly and accommodating.
Best clam chowder I’ve ever had. Wonderful special veal chop that was seasoned and cooked to perfection. It’s a little loud and everyone is having a great time. Staff was hustling and doing all they could to accommodate everyone there.
it is a bit noisy but the food and waiters/waitresses make this a go-to
Food always good
My wife and I come here frequently. Unfortunately, we had our first bad meal. The top neck clams on the half shell were as usual, nicely sized, fresh, briny and outstanding. As an entre, I ordered the surf and turf but the lobster tail was inedible. That spoiled seafood ammonia smell and taste. So bad in fact, I'm surprised it got to my plate. It reeked. The restaurant refunded me for the lobster tail portion and comped me three free broiled scallops - also ammoniac, but lightly so. This is the first bad experience I've had here, so I'm chalking this one up to poor luck.
Never disappointed ..
Great food, tasty and clean.
Friendly and professional service.
The AC was terrible, like eating into a refrigerator!
Food is awesome. Angry lobster is amazing. Never disappointed here. Great wine list too!
Four of us dined here this evening. Upon arrival we parked and were immediately in view of heavy construction equipment and a portable toilet. Not an attractive first impression.
Upon entering we were immediately greeted warmly and seated promptly despite being 10 minutes ahead on a Saturday evening. The table was properly prepared with linen service. While not an ideal location it worked well once our one guest adjusted his audio device to restaurant mode.
Our server was professional and took our drink orders quickly. The wine list was extensive and expensive. The drinks arrived quickly and were prepared to order.
The staff delivered fresh rolls accompanied by a plate of butter and oil.
Our experienced server gave us ample time to peruse the menu. She also told us the specials for the evening. On the negative side, she never provided prices. I wish all restaurants would simply print the specials and include prices. Despite being a very busy night, we never felt rushed.
For entrees we ordered lobster, scallops and pork chops. My wife and I split an endive salad. The portion size was more than adequate for two to share. The chops were prepared as requested. No fat or waste but ample serving size. My other guests enjoyed their seafood entrees. My wife really enjoyed the scallops.
We were all well fed from our salads and entrees so we passed on dessert. While the evening was expensive we enjoyed the high quality food and service. Clearly the restaurant has a winning formula. The ambiance works ( noise levels are high) unlike the parking lot construction equipment and portable toilet. We will be back for a special occasion. I strongly suggest a reservation.
Always amazing. Never disappointed!
Birthday. We had a great time....food, service & entertainment
Love this place!!! Amazing seafood. My favorite is the grilled octopus. Great service!! Been there three times and will definitely be back.
First time there and was an overall pleasant experience.
Outstanding! Excellent food and staff!!! Many restaurants in the area but Shipwreck Grill stands out!
Enjoy going for the food However, it's is a shame, the noise practically intolerable. Must scream to each other for conversation Would go more often if not the case
A bit pricey. The burrata was quite small for the price
Caesar salad very good
Pasta and clams excellent
We had planned on ordering dessert but the group seated behind us were very loud so we didn't order. It was our 50th Anniversary. Very good overall.
Love Shipwreck-food is delicious, love the seafood & the way it’s prepared-always a good martini! Bring back the little doughnuts with dipping sauce!! Our server was excellent-she knew the menu very well & was able to help me make excellent choices-creamy lobster bisque, Bert & goat cheese salad & grouper-all excellent!
The food was excellent and our server was outstanding!!
Your food was delicious and our waitress was attentive and served us in a very timely manner in spite of the very crowded and noisy surroundings. We enjoyed our evening but the presence of music in the already noisy restaurant was trying at least. The musicians and singer were good but in my opinion too much in such a loud place. We will return for your great menu but not on a Thursday eve
Danielle our waitress was excellent and informative. The top neck clams and blue point oysters were fresh and delicious. Tuna tartar was one of the best I’ve experienced. Danielle helped me pick out an entree. My husband and I both had the halibut with purple potatoes, favs beans and corn. The finishing touch was a grilled shrimp on the top. It was served in a light sauce. I chose to have my sauce on the side. The entree was outstanding! Too full for dessert. We can’t wait to return next summer.
Great menu, great food and service.
Best food... terrific service ! My favorite-place❤️
Best seafood at Jersey Shore.
Shipwreck never disappoints. Consistently great! From specialty cocktails to dessert always delicious.
Scallops done to perfection. Super goat's milk cheesecake. Grouper was super!
It was too noisy to fully enjoy the experience.
Service so slow. People who arrive after us served first and left before we were finished. First and last time here
Delicious!! I would highly recommend.
We went on a Friday night and it was loud so if you don’t like it loud when you eat, go on another day. I didn’t mind but in case someone does here is my two cents. Overall a great experience.
Told a half hour wait for table on patio. Took over an hour. The faux wicker benches on the patio are by far the most uncomfortable seats ever experienced in a restaurant. My butt hurt by the end of the meal Snow crab legs were excruciatingly salty ( this is coming from a guy who salts everything). Had them take them back. Second set of legs were the same. Twin lobster tails were mediocre. Tough meat and only slightly flavorful. Only thing saving my rating from poor was that we mentioned the saltiness to the waitress and she told the hostess who quickly came by to ask about the problem and ordered a different set of snow crab legs. And ultimately didn’t charge for that meal. So, they tried..
The noise level was WAY too loud. Couldn’t hear my husband speak!!!
Katie was the best waitress ever
Everyone in our party loved their meals and drinks. Great experience!
We always enjoy an evening at the Shipwreck. The menu is varied and the meals are delicious.
