Fantastic collection of model sail ships lining the walls. Excellent food - you could cut the insanely delicious prime rib with a fork, and the burgers are exquisite! The live piano was a wonderful! Thank you for a fabulous anniversary dinner!

We enjoyed our meal at the Ship Tavern; however, there were some management/kitchen issues that need to be addressed. When we arrived, our table was not yet ready, which was fine, we got a drink at the bar and had a seat in the lobby. They came to get us when we were ready to be seated. Our server, Molly, was fantastic, but she was fighting a losing battle. First, apparently this hotel has one kitchen for four restaurants, and they were badly overwhelmed.
To be fair, we went during the stock show, so they were very busy, but this is a major event for the city and for the hotel, so they should have been prepared for this. As a result, food was ridiculously slow to come from the kitchen - we waited over an hour for our meals. Also, they sent up our meals before our appetizer, and when they did send our appetizer (mid-meal) it was very over-salted. The meals themselves were delicious - I loved the prime rib, and it was perfectly cooked. Finally, by the time we were finished eating, there were very few desserts left to order, as they'd sold out of most items. This is, again, a kitchen/management issue, because it's not as though the stock show is an unexpected event and more desserts than usual should have been planned/prepped.

Overall, we would definitely give them another try, but I would have very high expectations that we should not experience these issues again. Please note, while this restaurant is very nice and the food is good, the atmosphere is quite noisy and the tables in the center of the room are quite close together, which makes for a less-than-peaceful experience. If you're looking for a quiet table, this is not the restaurant for you.

Not worth the money or the hassle. I used to come here all the time but the last few times the service has been lackluster. This last visit was absolutely the worst. My partner and I were not drinking, but simply came in for a light dinner. When we declined the offer for a drink, you could tell the server was annoyed and the entire mood shifted. Not once was I asked how the food was, nor did I even get the courtesy of a hot water refill for my tea. It was absolutely the worst; the server made it abundantly clear he was annoyed to have us at his table. It wasn’t until I signed the bill that he asked me how was the burger that I ordered. Call me crazy, but typically that is something you ask when the person is in the middle of eating. Overall not a great experience, it will be a long time before I go back.

We had had a very enjoyable lunch in one of Denver's most historic hotel restaurants. It makes one "feel special", as my friend said. Great service!

We had a great time at the Ship Tavern. The food was great and our server Ian was so nice.
I do have to comment on the bathrooms in the Brown Palace right next to the Ship Tavern. They hadn’t been cleaned in days, trash spilling out of the bins, dirt rings around the sink and toilet, and the furniture all banged up. It really appears that no one cares. What is going on? I’ve been going to the Brown Palace my whole life and have never seen it in this state. There are rumors going around town that it is the “sinking ship”. Please don’t let that be true, figure it out!!

This was my second meal at The Ship's Tavern this season. The Iconic BROWN PALACE HOTEL and its atmospheric restaurants are "a must" for native Denverites like me each holiday season -- and TWO VISITS made my holiday. The first occasion was a family dinner with 8 diners who relish the atmosphere as much as I do. The second was a belated Christmas lunch with two of my closest friends who always want to go to the Brown Palace at least once each holiday. We had excellent service, wonderful food, and the historic ship models to admire. It was amazing that we unknowingly chose the night of the Debutante Ball for our first visit, and the Stock Show Parade marching by at the second. This is a bit of Denver history everyone should experience. It never fails to please. One feels like she is in "Another Time, Another Place" each time she enters the door and is greeted with cordiality and smiles by the top notch staff.

Overall a good experience. It was New Year’s Eve so we specifically went early (4pm dinner) to avoid drunks and crowds, but for the first hour of our meal we were seated by three really drunk kids at the end of the bar. They were rather loud and vulgar. But after they left the noise level was fine. It wasn’t completely full but our server seemed overworked. She forgot our bread, took 15 minutes to bring a take home box, and we had to ask for the check twice even though we’d ordered coffee and dessert, which in theory means she should have known our meal was over. It took nearly 2 hours for appetizer, dinner, dessert and coffee, we didn’t even order alcoholic drinks. The food was good, the carrots with dinner were a little undercooked but that’s my only complaint on food. It was a little longer than we’d have thought but overall it was a good dinner.

Always great food. Everything is at a premium price because of the location, but they don’t disappoint. Portions are perfect, and always so good! Wine is a little pricy, but then again the pores are well above the average 4-5 oz. so definitely a great place for a great meal downtown.

Ship's Tavern is an excellent restaurant with strong menu options including gluten free. We have returned through the years for great fish and chips, beef and buffalo. We have never been disappointed.

Our server was the disappointment. He gave us minimal cold attention ( on the reservation we had identified we were celebrating our anniversary). It is a very noisy room but the food is worth it.

First time diner. Can check this off the list.

My prime rib with mixed sauteed vegetables was very good as was the French onion soup. Had a Palace Mule in a traditional copper mug. Was also tasty. My friend ordered scallops with bow-tie pasta and snap peas although crisp green beans were used. The crisp green beans were unexpected and not done enough. The entree didn't have a lot of flavor.

A typical bar with close quarters and a high noise level. People were enjoying themselves.

This place gets VERY LOUD as the evening progresses. Food and service are OK, what you would expect from a bar. Don't try this for occasions where you would like to hear your companion.

I tried for three days in advance to cancel our reservation. I was placed on hold and then hung up on twice because the hostess was too busy to address my call. I was then charged 64.80 for a no-cancellation fee. I called and left a message for the manager to call me back, but never received a call back. I am glad we did not end up eating here as I feel the service would have been awful. I would like my money back and have filed a complaint with the BBB as well.

We had a small group for Christmas, so decided to do the holiday dinner out this year. Had booked a reservation at Ship’s Tavern earlier this fall, having found little else available for the holiday at that time in the area. While our meals were largely fine, they weren’t outstanding given the prices, and the menu options weren’t particularly impressive, given the holiday occasion. The seasonal cocktails that we sampled weren’t memorable, either. This seems like a better choice for lunch or just drinks and apps. Would not choose it for dinner again. Tip: choose the prime rib sandwich over the prime rib entree. The amount and quality of meat for each was similar, but the sandwich was a better value.

Went for Christmas Day/Birthday. Overall it was nice. Crab cakes were lukewarm and soggy with weeping lettuce garnish and too much mayo but the clam chowder made up for it. The Shipwreck Sundae was an unexpected treat while the macaroons had no hint of coconut. They were still tasty

Up scale bar food, pricey $17 burger, known for prime rib.

They remodeled this restaurant and should have left it alone, it was very nautically themed that lost some of its character with the redo.

We were looking so forward to a special lunch for the holiday. Fond memories of the Ships Tavern from years past but no more. Food was average, service was horrible. Combine these with high prices, we won’t go back. Spoken to a few friends who have recently been there of recent and had the same experience. They won’t go back. Too bad as the tavern has such a rich tradition!
