Our server, Dean, was exceptional and his guidance on drink and dessert choices was perfect.
The prime rib dinner more than lived up to its reputation.
The drinks where fantastic the food was so freaking good. The horseradish is in my top five favorite from a restaurant!
First time trying Ships Tavern and won’t be the last!
As good as ever: from shop to ship to server (Frank, who rocks!), an exceptional experience.
Visiting Denver after we lived here 20 years ago. Previously had many great meals here. Not this time. Food and service was like a chain restaurant. Limited menu; no decaf coffee after dinner. Very disappointed. Would not recommend for the price
Dustin was out waiter and he went over the top to get us prime rib dinner (there were 6 of us) We have dined at Shipstavern many times in the past and always had the prime rib. We did not see it on the menu when we arrived for our 630pm reservation but he was quick to check with the kitchen and let us know that it was available.
thanks very much for making our evening....
The service and the food were excellent. i would go there again and try some of the other items on the menu.
For a venerable Denver institution that I have gone to over the last 4 decades this was a disappointment. It is still wonderful to bring guests to see the history of the Brown and Denver. How can you run out of iced tea at lunch? If that were the only lapse it could be overlooked. Simply emblematic of a problem with the kitchen and service.
Disappointed; Autograph hotels generally have good food but this was not the case here.
Great historical building and a fun vibe. Food is tasty.
The ship Tavern was terrible. We stayed at the Brown Palace and expected quality dining for the prices advertised on their menu. But the food was flavorless and the service was sub par. I sent my cheesesteak back, which I never do. It had no flavor and the meat was dry. It was a very disappointing meal. The music was uncomfortably loud as well.
Great waiter! Great food! Highly recommend a nice dinner out in the tavern style atmosphere.
Party of 8 and 830 PM and everything went as planned. Good food and service.
Great food and service in an historical setting: a great Denver experience
A very enjoyable lunch. The Cobb salad and Ruben sandwich we’re both excellent. One more person working with the waitstaff would have been a very good idea. They were very good, but were stretched thin and had to hurry to try to keep up.
A little pricey for a burger, but it was massive and delicious! Our server, Dean, was fantastic.
Cobb salad was oversold but under delivered
Food was Bad
Service was really Bad
Menu was limited
It’s sad to see the quality of the Ship Tavern go down and the hotel was not clean with dusty shelves and counters. The management team is not doing their job.
We came to the amazing Brown Palace Hotel at the recommendation of friends here in Phoenix. When I made the reservation at the Ship Tavern, there was a question asking if it was a special occasion, and I said yes, it was an anniversary (our 40th). We had a very nice dinner, very charming waiter, but nothing was ever mentioned about our special occasion. Still a very enjoyable evening, but why ask if it doesn't matter?
Great Old Fashion. Food really good too.
Ships Tavern is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Denver and I cannot wait to visit the Brown again and have a meal and drink there.
Thank you for a great two dinners for our anniversary weekend. Food was excellent except would recommend less salt on everything. My husband said french fries were too small, not hot and he did not care for the parmesan.
Good food in a nice atmosphere right now the menu seems limited but overall it was a good experience.
Service was impeccable! Food was very average, especially considering the price. The crab cake was outstanding. My wife got the trout with fries (fish and chips) Very large portions, but fish had way too much breading and was somewhat overcooked...breading nearly burned. I had the flatiron steak "sandwich" which was a small steak plopped on a single piece of toast. Steak was cooked right and tasted good. The parmesan chips were good. My wife's fries were just fast food variety. Overall, food average at best, but cost over $85. Again, service was great and nice atmosphere, but food was not worth the price. Could get similar at Applebee's or Chili's for half the price. Would recommend with reservations. Ps, this was a Mother's Day dinner for my wife one day early.
Dean was excellent with his recommendations. The Fox and the Hound cocktail was delicious and still has me thinking about it.
We had Mothers day dinner at the Ship Tavern. The menu is quite limited and the food is nothing special. A glass of average sauvignon blanc cost $17. My seat at the table had a view of the kitchen and the wait people hovering at the bar. Our waitress was very good. We probably won’t go back.
I was disappointed with our lunch. The restaurant was very cold. The staff was not friendly at all. We both ordered the cod fish and chips, which I felt was quite expensive for $24 for a lunch portion. The fish was overcooked, the coleslaw tasted like it was rancid. I will say the dessert was good.
Perhaps I was expecting more because it was the Brown Palace. I would not recommend The Ship Tavern, nor will I return there to dine.
Overall great place. Food was unbelievably salty though. And I love salt, but it was too much. I had the Caesar salad with salmon and both the dressing and the salmon were crazy salty. My friend had the chicken Marsala and it was also very salty. But would come back for sure. Great ambience and service. Might just request dressings and sauces on the side.
It was a birthday lunch following a tour of The American Museum of Western Art. The Grand Manhattan was perfect as was the Clam Chowder, Crab Cake and Trout and Chips. The special complimentary birthday Macaroons were unexpected but delicious and much appreciated! It was so nice to be back at the Brown Palace in person again! You guys are the best!
My husband booked a table at the Tavern for his 75th birthday. He then perused the online menu and selected his meal (mussels) However, when we arrived and read the in-house menu, it was quite different, with no mussels offered. This was a very disappointing and frustrating experience for my husband, who ordered fish and chips instead. You need to update your web site menu! However, the food was quite good, and our server (Ashleigh) was friendly and efficient. I very much enjoyed the Downtown Club sandwich and champagne. We have been going to the Ship Tavern for many years, and hope things improve.
Everything was perfect!!! The piano player, John Kite, was a special treat!!!
It was my first time at the Ship Tavern, but it definitely will not be my last. It is a pricey location, but it was worth every penny. Everything was wonderful from the food to our amazing server. He was very friendly, personable and gave great service. I definitely recommend this place!
Kind of load
We had a really great time! The service was quick and attentive, the food was great and the live piano gave a fun atmosphere.
Extremely disappointed. Very expensive for poor quality and service. Food sat for a long time before being served. Food was poor quality. Had to repeat requests for service. French fries cooked in old grease. Lettuce was days old and watery. Meal not delivered as ordered. Service was slow we waited forever. Trust the Brown Palace will return to their high standards
They were amazing at being cautious of my date’s allergies and accommodated all of our needs amazing service, amazing food, and amazing atmosphere!
Server and food were fantastic with the exception of the Crab Cakes. They were completely over mixed or they are not using jumbo lump.
Not good. Left a Google review. Would not eat there again.
More than a sports bar. Less than fine dining. Good food, great service, medium priced. I’d go back.
