Great ambiance and the service was outstanding. We really enjoyed dinner.
My favorite pub in Denver! The food is always delicious, the service is always excellent, and it's the coolest upscale pub in Denver!
The waitress was friendly and helpful. We went there specifically for the prime rib. We, a party of three, were seated promptly at 7:00 (when we arrived, 15 minutes prior to our reservation). We all ordered the prime rib, two with a larger cut. All three ordered it rare - me saying I wanted my meat rare - dark red to purple rare. The waitress said they had no purple, but did have rare. The dinner came - the baked potatoes were slightly undercooked and lukewarm. My wife's prime rib was on the medium-rare side of rare, what she ordered. My prime rib was closer to medium than it was to rare. My daughter's was medium rare. We complained about the potatoes and the rib. The waitress brought us new potatoes which were slightly undercooked, but hot. They were good, not great. The waitress spoke to the manager who came to our table. I showed him my cut of prime rib and he said he would get me a rare piece of beef. He came back shortly saying that there was no rarer meat. It was shortly after 7 and they had no rare prime rib. He was very apologetic, but said there was no other prime rib that was cooked that was rarer. He asked me if I wanted a discount. I said yes, whatever he could do. He did give us a discount on the meat, but it was significantly less than the cost of my dinner. We have gone to the Ship Tavern over the last five years specifically because the prime rib was the best we had eaten. But over the last two years, the prime rib has not been prepared as well as it was in the past. It is unlikely that we will return to the Ship Tavern given that we have had a disappointing and a very disappointing evening there. The prime rib is not what it used to be.
Had a reservation, but when we showed up, no table for us. They had to scramble to find a place for us. Other than that is was a good experience
Our waiter was great! Wish I asked his name. He was an older gentleman. Very nice and great service.
Excellent food and service made for a very nice lunch at the Brown Palace.
Choices were excellent and very good. Service was also excellent.
We celebrate our anniversary at the Ships Tavern in the Brown Place nearly every year. We had our very 1st dinner as a married couple there 20 yrs ago. I'd like to say that this year was just as wonderful as previous years but it was not.
When making our reservation I stated that it was our anniversary and was greeted with a happy anniversary-good start. The service could have been better. The waitress was just checking the boxes and was not even aware of our anniversary.
However, the main issue was the food. We ordered clam chowder and prime rib. The clam chowder was severely over salted and the prime rib was a bit chewy and bland.
I told my husband that we need to go to another restaurant to celebrate our 20th anniversary next weekend to overcome our very disappointing experience. It was not up to their usual standards.
My complain is mostly about the food.
The Cheese and Charcuterie Board as an appetizer was very good.
However, our main entree was served way before we finsihed our appetizer. My wife's Halibut was dried out, and my steak, ordered medium, was more than well done. It also was served on top of a huge portion of french fries. In afterthought, we should have rejected the meals, but did not want to cause a scene.
The food was very good and served quickly! Server was very efficient and friendly! Very pleasant experience!!
We were together as a group of high school friends and all have different tastes. Menu was excellent. Prime rib and baked potato were delicious. Service was ok.
An absolute miss on every level. Save your time and money. The food was cold, flavorless, and extremely overpriced, the atmosphere was just plain bad, incredibly loud with patrons yelling and playing games at the table. Complete disregard from staff. Crab cakes were cold and flavorless, drinks were weak, service was slow and inattentive, steak was cold , no sear or flavor, cold soggy fries. Absolutely the worst anniversary meal we’ve had in 11 years
Many problems getting our order out. Luckily we were not in a hurry.
Overall, delighful! A bit loud, but it was lunchtime.
We were disappointed that Fish N Chips is no longer offered, but everything was great.
We ate at Ship's Tavern last night and had a good experience. The Old Fashioned was very good. Everyone at our table ordered one and enjoyed it. I had the red beet hummus, and I would not recommend it. I ordered it because I've never had a red beet hummus before, but it was nothing special and I could not taste the red beets. The burger was very good and so were the sweet potato fries. I recommend the burger, sweet potato fries and the Old Fashioned! The service was good. The tavern is lovely and we enjoyed our evening there.
Everything was wonderful
The pasta dish was horrible. There was hardly any sauce, and a couple burnt cherry tomatoes and asparagus.
Ambiance was great as well as the service by our waiter. Loved the piano music as well!
Several loud crashes from the kitchen. Our server with the blond braids was sweet and great. Delicious burger!
We had a great meal of prime rib and salmon at the Ship Tavern. We were there because my parents had spent their honeymoon at the Brown Palace 70 years ago in 1951. They had their dinner at the Ship Tavern. I have a copy of the menu that my mother saved from that dinner! I have been to this restaurant several times over the years and the quality of the food remains great. The ambiance is historical and should never be changed!
As per usual, our experience at the Ship’s Tavern was wonderful. Our food was delicious, served quickly with minimal wait time. Our waiter was friendly and courteous and both of meals were correct and served piping hot. We were offered dessert (and ordered it too!) and drinks were continually offered and topped up. Everything was perfect. We always enjoy ourselves at The Brown Palace, and especially The Ship’s Tavern.
Met Friends from out of town for dinner.
This was a second "convenience" visit to the Ship Tavern. Service was a bit better, but the food was good but not great. The noise level was very high, but Open Table seems not to want to report that.
A great little tavern that serves great food and drinks.
Must be short staffed from COVID. Disappointing. They just went to a smaller more expensive menu. Food was not worth the $ bland salmon and risotto. $50 steak frites can out well done and we couldn’t get it re-fired before the rest of the group was done eating. They did take it off the bill and throw in a free dessert but it’s not currently living up to the brown palace standard
Food and service were great. Too noisy for us.
So disappointed they changed there menu, we have so enjoyed there steak sandwich and fish and chips in the past. This time neither was on the menu. Very disappointed 😒
We were in Denver for the A&M/Colorado game, and stayed at the Brown Palace, and this is one of their in-house dining choices. While history reigns at the Brown Palace, the Ship Tavern could use some updating. The food was good, but not great, the service was acceptable but not great, and the place echoes the noise from loud tables. We dined here 3 times while we were in Denver, but only because of convenience.
Without a doubt the best prime rib I've had and a hearty portion. My husband's pot pie had a super flaky pastry and was large and very tasty. The only problem was there was a sprinkler flood in both women's and men's bathrooms and no one appeared to be working on it. Kind of surprising for such a historic and upscale hotel and restaurant.
Family gathering celebrating engagement. Food was delicious!
We have eaten here for over 40 years. Due to COVID we had not been there for almost 2 years. It was 5:30 on a Sunday and noisy as he'll. It was Not busy. The menu has changed drastically! They have a basic bar menu. No longer have prime rib, which is what they were known for. Soup and Caesar salad still great but meal/sandwiches were not. Nothing classy about this "joint" now. One of the wait persons was wearing a tank top and leggings. (She have the body to wear either)
Don't think we'll be returning.
Been going to the Ship’s Tavern for a very long time. My wife and I each had sandwich and fries. Typically very good. This time the fries had probably sat out for days. Hard as a rock. Told manager who got us some edible fries. NO APOLOGY THOUGH!
Ship Tavern is one of our favorite spots to take out-of-town guests. The history, ambiance, and food never disappoints.
Awful. Left before ordering … it was too noisy to have a conversation. Table and
Menus were sticky
Great service and food! Loved the architecture and aesthetic
Waiter was great! Ordered 2 X club sandwiches and a Ceasar salad. Food took a loooong time to leave the kitchen. Folks who arrived after us got their food first. Waiter was apologetic and I am sure the kitchen staff is transitioning post-pandameic like so many places. So exercise grace with Ship Tavern.
Had such a fun night celebrating my mom and Dad’s anniversary
Very, very attentive waiter with perfect service!! Food was good! Complimentary dessert- Madeleines- very nice!
The soups we ordered were. The cheese in the onion soup was not even melted. The waiter Tyler, was great though. Just overworked.
