The décor was great! Lots of ships/nautical looking items throughout. Plus, the added attraction of dining at the Brown Palace, a staple of Denver history. The food was delicious and the waitstaff were excellent. I would definitely recommend.

Great menu and waitress was fabulous. It was perfect except for the fact that apparently, the gift card we received was not applicable to that restaurant even though it was on the list. it was a bit embarrassing, but we paid the full bill and enjoyed the anniversary dinner none the less.

Always leave the Ship's Tavern happy and satisfied. Favorite place to take out of town guests.

Serving size is smaller than the last time I was there. The cherry tomatoes had a spoiled taste to them.

So pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was! I had the trout and it was seasoned & cooked perfectly, my friend had the fish and chips and it was some of the best I have had! The batter was well seasoned and crispy, the “chips” were seasoned potato wedges and the fish was flaky and delicious.

We are new to Denver, and we went to the Ship Tavern for my birthday, largely because it is my new son-in-law’s favorite local spot. I can see why. Excellent drinks, well prepared, delicious food, friendly, attentive service, as well as a casual and pleasant atmosphere, a combination that is hard to beat. The guys predictably had meat. We were told going in that they serve “the best prime rib in Denver.” Not having done sufficient research, I can’t back up that claim difinitively. I can say, however, that I had one of the best 16 ounce cuts that I’ve ever had. A thick, juicy, slab with relatively little fat. Compares favorably to the prime rib at The House of Prime Rib in San Francisco, for me the Mecca of meat. High praise indeed. I might add that a 20 ounce slab is an option , as well as a 12 ounce. -My wife and daughter had fish, trout and salmon respectively and very much enjoyed their meals as well. I was particularly impressed by our server who could not have been kinder to us nor more professional. All in all, a very fine and enjoyable evening at my new local favorite spot to which we will certainly return.

The food had good flavor, but all four of us ordered risotto, and it was not cooked (still crunchy-not chewy). 4 alcoholic beverages, one appetizer, 4 meals and 2 desserts =$300. Atmosphere and service were great and we did not feel rushed.

A Denver dining institution! I had the open face prime rib sandwich for $21 which was acceptable for prime rib and it was the perfect doneness. My friend had the fish and chips which was very good but $28??? Way too pricey for what it was. Still, always a delight and we enjoyed the experience.

Tried Ship Tavern on the recommendation of the hotel staff where I was staying. I was told they had the best prime rib in Denver. I've not eaten any other prime rib in Denver, so I can't really substantiate this claim! However, it was one of the best meals that I have had in a long time. The prime rib is excellent. I wish I could have witnessed them summoning the demons who created the horseradish! It was as delicious as it was painful/therapeutic. We definitely left with our bellies full and our sinuses clear. It had great atmosphere, and is perfect for a casual business dinner. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the downtown area looking for a good meal at a decent price. Much better than other restaurants in the 16th Street Mall area.

I was very disappointed in the bread it was hard and seemed old
The prime rib was excellent very tender. Personally I don’t like the aju all over the plate, I prefer to dip, but that’s me. It was extremely noisy and very difficult to hear a conversation we rushed through the meal to go elsewhere to talk

Fortunately we used a BOG coupon, otherwise the price would've been way too much. The service was very good until the place got busy, then they seemed a bit overwhelmed.

The food is generally OK for the price but the Croque Monsieur is very heavy. Between the cheese, cream sauce and texas toast, this is not a light sandwich.

Been to The Ship Tavern several times and on this particular Saturday evening it did not have the same feel as it has in the past. It was not as nice as I remember it. Mind you not bad, but not a 4-5 rating either.

Everything was average. It seemed they were understaffed. It took a long time for a drink order. Then a food order. Our food arrived in a reasonable time. The French onion soup was fine. My husband didn’t love his burger. The wine is overpriced (beyond the overpriced we are used to). We didn’t prefer the table we were sat at in the middle of the restaurant. It feels like you are dining with the 2 tables that are seated on either side. Will not return. Brown Palace can do better.

When you go to the Brown Palace you expect great things. I know this is more of a casual spot in the Palace but this was Applebee’s level stuff. Server didn’t seem knowledgeable and was kind of awkward, maybe she was new? The food was bland and the drinks were just ok. $250.00 for two and it honestly ruined my night knowing I spent that much on food that was Applebee’s equivalent or worse. I love going to the Brown Palace, for its history and luxury, hopefully someone will revamp Ship Tavern and make what the the Palace deserves.

The room is classic but the once great Ship Tavern has run aground as far as food, service and ambience go. It's a shame that Marriott has let this place turn into a shadow of its former self.

I’m glad we were able to try the Brown Palace however we made reservations a month and a half in advance and we arrived 30 minutes early at 6 and Res. Was for 6:30 and the greeters asked us to be off of our table by 7:15 because they were busy so each corse took a while to come and we were trying to rush so they could have table by 7:15 I don’t care how busy you are at any given time you should not ask customers to be gone by a certain time expecially at those prices! The cook after we were half way done told us not to worry!

We did an early dinner on Valentine's Day. The Ship's Tavern is a nice bar in a historic hotel.
The service was friendly and attentive. The food was good, but barely hot enough. Portion sizes were generous. For the prices and reputation of the hotel, the presentation of the food on the plate is fairly pedestrian. Good selection of wine and beer. Lots of menu options. The desert selections were tempting, but we were too full to partake.

We ordered the quesadilla for our daughter asking for non-spicy cheese and no added ingredients, such as the jalapeños in the menu description. The quesadilla we received was exactly as the menu described, spicy with jalapeños. We asked again for just a plain non-spicy quesadilla as we originally ordered. We got a plain one...with spicy cheese. My daughter did not touch it after trying a small bite. $16 down the drain. And she left hungry :( We were staying at the Brown Palace and had no other dining options at this point since our plane was late arriving into Denver. Will order pizza delivery next time. Disappointing.

The Ship Tavern at the Brown Palace hotel is a good medium priced place to meet with friends with tasty food and good beer without breaking your budget. You can go low-end with tasty burgers (meat or buffalo), middle range with delicious fish 'n' chips (as we did) or high range with steak or buffalo steak. At 6:00 PM on a Saturday there was room, but it was crowded by 7:30 PM with a happy crowd of younger and older diners. And you get to walk around the historic Brown Palace hotel before and after your meal.

We enjoyed our meal at the Ship Tavern; however, there were some management/kitchen issues that need to be addressed. When we arrived, our table was not yet ready, which was fine, we got a drink at the bar and had a seat in the lobby. They came to get us when we were ready to be seated. Our server, Molly, was fantastic, but she was fighting a losing battle. First, apparently this hotel has one kitchen for four restaurants, and they were badly overwhelmed.
To be fair, we went during the stock show, so they were very busy, but this is a major event for the city and for the hotel, so they should have been prepared for this. As a result, food was ridiculously slow to come from the kitchen - we waited over an hour for our meals. Also, they sent up our meals before our appetizer, and when they did send our appetizer (mid-meal) it was very over-salted. The meals themselves were delicious - I loved the prime rib, and it was perfectly cooked. Finally, by the time we were finished eating, there were very few desserts left to order, as they'd sold out of most items. This is, again, a kitchen/management issue, because it's not as though the stock show is an unexpected event and more desserts than usual should have been planned/prepped.

Overall, we would definitely give them another try, but I would have very high expectations that we should not experience these issues again. Please note, while this restaurant is very nice and the food is good, the atmosphere is quite noisy and the tables in the center of the room are quite close together, which makes for a less-than-peaceful experience. If you're looking for a quiet table, this is not the restaurant for you.
