We got the 1/2 price happy hour sushi-terrific value!
I suggest making reservations to start, it was a Monday night(no holiday) and this place was packed. Luckily, I did make reservations because it was my husbands bday and didn't want to wait for a table just in case. Glad I did that!! The food is really good and worth every penny. I had the Teriyaki Salmon with white rice which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Hubby had scallop and steak with fried rice and he thought it was awesome! My 3year old even ate his dinner and that is few are far between. Our two sons have food allergies (Egg, nuts and dairy) and they were more than accommodating for this. Good job Shinto! :) They did a group surprise bday song and gave him a fried chocolate chip cookie with ice cream which was really good. Our daughter said next year she wants to come here for her bday. We will be back here again soon.
Celebrating our sons 25th Birthday with our family! It was great and fun for all ages
Johnny Bravo was an excellent cook. Thank you for making my husband’s dinner so fun and delicious.
Overall great . Just very loud
Such a great restaurant!!! Great food, great service, great atmosphere!! Can’t wait to go back!
Visit this place frequently! Always a great show and service.
Went with my family for my birthday and did the hibachi everyone was friendly the drinks took forever I would say that was the only downside but our chef was very talkative and interactive.
Over priced compared to comps. Slow service by all . Food quality not so good - a lot of fat in meat compared to other Japanese Steakhouse restaurants.
Service was so bad that it was hard to enjoy the good food!
-There was no one at the front desk to seat us. Someone from the bar walked up to us and told us to just pick a table.
-The table tops and sides were not wiped down well
-We sat there for 10 minutes before someone came by to drop off menus.
-Took another 5 to get water.
- Asked for a straw for the water and then we didn't see our waiter for another 5 minutes - so 20 minutes after we got there we were able to drink our water.
- We had to flag down the waiter to take our order.
The sad thing is, the food is really good. Take out would be a good idea here at lunch time.
It was very cold in the restaurant. Maybe it a little uncomfortable to eat. Other than that, it was great.
Delicious sushi as usual, nightly drink specials are a great value too! 🍣🍷🍱
Went for dinner with our kids and grandkids. Foot was great as always and there were birthdays galore going on. Our 1-1/2 yr old granddaughter was entertained by the birthday singing, fishy tankand fountain.
We all had a good time!
Don't order the chicken. It was like chewy rubber
Went for an early dinner on a Saturday. Great service, great food. The host was friendly and attentive, sat us right away. Our server had a great personality, he made sure we all had what we wanted without being annoying about it. We enjoyed a casual early dinner without feeling rushed to get out. Can't wait to go back.
Another fantastic dining experience. Friday 6:30pm reservations, restaurant was busy, seated promptly. Friendly staff. Great food, must try their Special Sushi Roll. Our waitress Brittany was most attentive. Enjoyable meal.
Excellent service & excellent food
It was a great experience. And the food is to good!
There was hair in my sushi they comped the sushi but I feel like they should’ve comped the whole meal because of the hair
Overall the food and service was good, the server was attentive and our food came without delay. However when we looked at the dessert menu, it was dirty and sticky, it made me wonder if the kitchen was just as dirty. When I informed the server, I was told " I think someone was cleaning them today!" wow those things should be cleaned on a daily basis. I went right to the restroom to wash my hands. Very disappointed, I don't know if I will be back.
The food and the ambiance at Shinto have always been great. However, we went there last Sunday and were disappointed with the service. Shinto was very understaffed in the sushi lounge. We would see our waiter every 20 minutes or so and have to wait even longer for our food and drink orders. Our waiter was friendly, but he was very brief with us. We were celebrating my birthday and my wife had to tell our waiter three times that it was my birthday. He just said that the kitchen was backed up. My wife had to apologize to me about the long wait on my surprise birthday treat as we were both looking to leave by the time it finally arrived. Shinto has had a good track record, but last Sunday was poor.
The food is great. The only thing they should improve is their hibachi cooks training. Or have more cooks on staff. Our cook looked so tired …. and it was just around 4PM..
You have to try the calamari and sushi was very good
Great food and chef. Service was slow, we were there for business lunch and it took over an hour. Also were trying to celebrate a birthday, but they did nothing special.
Wonderful place, I was greeted by wonderful hosts and had a great server who made sure we were okay during our whole dinner. The chef was wonderful and fun yet professional in his craft. The dining experience was top entertainment, nothing like good food and a show! It was amazing that one restaurant can perfect good cooking and good rolls of sushi, both were amazing options to take and left a party in your mouth.
We went for the Naperville Restaurant Week nenu. The food was abundant, very good, almost too much (it WAS too much for my wife), and a good bargain (were it not for Restaurant Week, the ssme food would have cost quite a bit more). The service and "entertainment" were also top notch.
Food was a bit salty tonight. Need to use les salt
The sashimi was great and the seaweed salad is worth the visit by itself.
Has turned into a family dining establishment. Appears a little worn. Staff singing Happy Birthday every 10 minutes. Don't think we will be back for a date night. Sushi still okay. Staff very friendly and attentive.
All about Shinto!!
We went in a Wednesday and the food did not taste fresh at all. I also don’t like that the chick in the fried rice is already cooked- it tastes weird. Everything else was good
I had heard great things about Shinto before making a reservation, and they did not disappoint! Everything was Great! The sushi is amazing, and we enjoyed the hibachi experience! I'll be going back again when I need my sushi fix.
food is good...but service is horribly slow....
Our family has found our new favorite Japanese Steakhouse! We are a family of five with a son in a wheelchair, and they were very accommodating to us. From our wonderful and lively Chef named Juan, to our fantastic waitress, Alissa, who specifically brought out little things that she thought might be helpful to our son with special needs (a glass of ice for the very hot soup and a couple of different spoons to make it easier to feed him). We also appreciated the friendly greeting from the General Manager, Brandon. He was very pleased we had such a wonderful dining experience. Excellent food, terrific service and nice atmosphere at Shinto's of Naperville!
The food was terrific and cooked to perfection. We liked the hibachi chef a lot. Otherwise the service wasn’t great. We had to remind our server more than once to bring chopstick helpers for the kids. She wasn’t friendly, just meh. The hibachi chef was just the opposite. My martini was warm, not chilled, and no sugar rim on a lemon drop? I didn’t send it back but it wasn’t great. I think the servers need more training and more personality.
I'm definitely coming back to this place! Awesome experince. Great food.
Typically the sushi is good and I come here all the time. Just wasn’t good sushi this evening for whatever reason. Always get the Rainbow roll which was small and not get good and the filet roll wasn’t good and was falling a part. Don’t typically complain, but you asked.
Saturday 6:30pm reservations, seated promptly. Friendly staff, Outstanding attentive service from our waitress Brittany. Great food, must try their Specialty Rolls! Reasonably priced, another fantastic meal.
Outstanding sushi but hard to understand our server.
My husband and I came here for a New Years Day early dinner. We had heard wonderful things about the sushi. The Monday half off specialty rolls is an amazing deal, can't beat it! And on top of that, it was happy hour. The food was amazing and the place was really nice. The only thing to make it better would have been better service. The bar wasn't that busy but the bartender wasn't attentive at all. We wanted to order spicy mayo to eat with our rolls but she never came back and we didn't want the rolls to get cold, so we just ate them. She finally came back at the end.
