Shinto Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Lounge - Naperville Ratings and Reviews
We went here to celebrate my birthday and rushing to a movie afterwards. So we called ahead to order our food. When we arrived, it was just a few mins and we were served. The sushi was delicious. They brought me a deep fried cookie and ice cream as a treat too. Love this place!
Tuesday is 1/2 price Hibachi and the menu consists of Chicken, Shrimp or Beef. All very good choices. Soup or salad is included as well. Steamed rice is included, but fried rice is an upcharge and curious because the chef does include this as part of his "show". It would be interesting if no one at the table wanted white rice (maybe a quick dinner). The quality and quantity are all very good and we've never left wanting for any more food!
Went in for my girlfriend and i’s anniversary and was satisfied with everything besides the initial appetizer which was cold, but after letting our waitress know, she as quick to fix he mistake and very polite about it! From that moment on, the rest of the night went smoothly and was extremely enjoyable!
As always the ambiance is very lively and the staff is very polite and attentive. Celebrated my daughter's birthday dinner with her friends. Food was great as usual. Must try their French garlic with hibachi and Chicken motiyaki is one of our favorites from the kitchen menu.
Good food, good value....slowest service ever!
Asked for our check at 6:40pm after already sitting with to go boxes for 10 minutes. Had to ask two different people for our check. After we finally got them, they were not correct. Got our credit card back at 7:15pm.
Repeat customer. Sushi is always good and we will be back. Service was a bit odd, almost an indifferent attitude that didn't really help the dinning experience. It seemed to take a long time to order, drinks to come, bill to arrive. Initially the waiter came to take a drink order, and when one guest started looking at the drink menu, he left with just 3 of the 4 orders? It took a long time for the cocktails to come and our 4th ordered a drink (and a bud light after all that!). I will be back for the sushi, and expect better service that is usually recieved.
My experience was not what I expected. I made a reservation early in the day and did get a follow up call to confirm. Dinner was to celebrate my daughters birthday, which I noted when I booked the reservation. We wanted a place that had both Sushi and other dinner selections. The first problem that we came across was my daughter’s Sushi had a hair in it, which was replaced. Second, my youngest daughter’s order came with ice cream, but we had to remind the waiter at the end. Lastly, my wife had to remind the waiter that we were there to celebrate my oldest daughter’s b-day so the waiter’s came and sang to her. In the end we did get the things that we wanted, but were disappointed with the overall experience.
We love Shinto: the hibachi, the sushi, and especially the egg yolk sauce. The only problem we encounter is the timing of the food coming out. They can’t seem to get appetizers out ahead or everyone’s dinners out together. It makes it feel rushed. Great people and great quality food.
We’ve visited Shinto a few times. This time it was for a Family birthday dinner. Group of 10.prompt service. Hibachi table, chef was pleasant. Entertaining. Crispy tuna roll was delicious. Spicy miso Soup and ginger salad were tasty. The Fried rice, chicken, steak, shrimp, scallops were cooked perfectly. A complimentary chocolate chip tempura cookie was served to the birthday boy. Delicious. Enough for the group. Nice staff. Nice bar area. Clean restaurant. We Will return.
Went to Shinto for their Tuesday night special ($12 hibachi) without super high expectations - BUT.... they delivered. The meal along with the hibachi preparation was terrific from start to finish. No skimping on portion size and the selection of beef, chicken, shrimp was welcome. Meal included soup or salad, your choice of meat, steamed rice (fried rice is an upcharge).
Our empty bowls from the soup and salad, along with our empty glasses were piling up . Our server did not come around enough to collect them and even when he did come around, he brought refills without asking, which was nice, but never took our empties and we were left with little to no room. Even after requesting that he take the empty dishes, he would leave several empties, and fail to come back for them.
Good food, generous portions. I, however, recommend the hibachi. The first time we dined there we ate at the hibachi table. This time we did not. I think the food is better at the hibachi tables. you also have a better selection of seafood. The food was good but I like the hibachi better.
Shinto has been a sushi favorite of mine for a couple years now. Since moving further from the Naperville area I’ve been unable to visit as often as I wished. Monday was my first visit in about a year and I was pleasantly surprised at all the cool new improvements. The patio was up and running, the reservation/wait process was smooth. The staff and waiters were just as friendly as I remember and the food was even better with some of my favorite sushi rolls just as good as they were 2 years ago. Atmosphere is great for a normal dinner date or as fun as a birthday dinner with friends. Love this place can’t rave enough.
Service was slow and poor. We didn't get our soup and salad that came with our entree. When we mentioned that we didn't get them the server just said sorry and walked away. We were charged for food that was not ordered also. Over all the experience was not worth the money we paid.
