Shinto Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Lounge - Naperville Ratings and Reviews
This is a very nice place where anyone can go and have fun. It is pricy but worth it because you actually get a better serving size than others do. We had the shrimp and they were larger than many places around. The swordfish is very good too. I would recommend this place to friends and family for those special occasions.
Shinto may have the best Japanese food I've ever had.
There were 6 of us for my daughter and son-in-law's birthdays. We had steak and egg yolk shrimp, teriyaki chicken, seafood combo, chicken and hibachi shrimp and filet and garlic shrimp. All meals included soup, salad, grilled shrimp appetizer, entree, veggies and rice.
The soup was the most flavorful miso-type soup I've ever had. It was beef-based instead of the normal chicken-based. The salad had a delicious ginger dressing, much better than usual. The dipping sauces were a mustard sauce and a ginger sauce; both were wonderful. The veggies, carrots, onion, zucchini, broccoli and mushrooms, were prepared perfectly crisp-tender.
With a little sharing, we only had one small box of leftovers. We all were stuffed, but really happy.
Don't miss this place!
We've been here many times, but it was somehow even better this time around. Our Chef was fun without being corny or mechanical. Conversations flowed easily and we laughed quite a bit. Food was fresh and tasty as usual. Don't forget to ask about the $5.00 take home container of their ginger dressing. Such a great deal, but not on the menu. We will continue to make this our go-to place to celebrate birthdays with our adult children.
Came here as a group of 12 for a family celebration. Kids really enjoyed the show, the chef very nice and professional. Food tasty, portions very good. Servers attentive. Restaurant clean. Only disappointment was that they didn't serve still or sparking bottled water, which would seem to be a standard menu offering. Milkshakes, which were on the menu were also not available to order. Other than that, we were happy with the menu.
We came here for our 4 year anniversary dinner. Prior to our experience, the host called to confirm our reservation and he saw our notes (I left on OT) and asked if we wanted the hibachi side or sushi side of the restaurant. He confirmed our notes and preferences.
When we arrived at the restaurant, the hosts (two young girls) had no idea about our occasion or our preferences. They asked us where we wanted to sit and if this was for a special occasion. I was a little disappointed. It was very loud and we had the world's most soft-spoken server. I could not hear anything beyond the diners and the chefs and the rhythm from the knives.
Beyond that, our experience was great. The food was amazing and our chef was awesome. Him and I went back and forth at teasing each other and he was a good sport about it. I highly recommend the food and they are opening up a second location (good for them!) and we will be back. I would not recommend if you want a romantic date night.
It was a super fun Father's Day hibachi experience with my wife and three children (ages 12, 11, & 8)! Great food and a great show from the chef for all of us to enjoy. We also love the Sushi at Shinto but the portions are so huge with the hibachi meal, there wasn't any room for one of the specialty sushi rolls that are so yummy. Big Thumbs Up!!!
6:30pm Sat reservations. Arrived early, waited at the bar until they have 8 people to seat at a table grill. The 2 bartenders were unattentive and rude. Wine came in a Big Glass with Nothing in it (SMALL POUR)...Ridiculous! Our Hibachi chef "Johnny Rocket " was entertaining. Extremely Loud on that side of the restaurant. We've eaten here before having Sushi. Thought we would try something different. Hibachi dining was disappointing and expensive.
Honestly, wasn't impressed. Having an upcharge for fried rice, and garlic or egg on shrimp as well have never seen at a sushi steak house before. Live out in Batavia and go to a few locally that are much better. would not go again. I guess if you live in Naperville and don't venture out you don't know any better. I do and will not go back.
The server was terrible. He was NEVER around and when he did show up to our table he was cocky and acted like he didn't have time to be there. The trainee spilled drinks all over the grill so we had to wait longer for the chef to come. And not even an apology from a manager or our server. I love Shinto but this was a bad night!
Noon business lunch, reservation honored on time. Friendly staff, good food & service. Depending on what you order, bill can get Pricey! Loud environment, people talking over one another from other tables. Located in strip center next to DeltaSonic. Ample parking.
