Shinto Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar Ratings and Reviews
Not the best experience. Poor from walking in the door. Not greeted, not seated promptly, linen napkin was thread worn and had a string on it. The fork was cheap and old. The floor around our hibachi table was dirty, even though we were there for a 5 o'clock reservation. The food was okay but not great. The chef was good but the fan at our table was so loud we couldn't hear him. Our server was great and bet competent, especially as she was managing several tables. A manager bumped into me on the easy out. He was walking around the dining room not looking where he was going. He apologized but didn't ask if our dinner was good, say have a nice evening, thank you - nothing. I think he exemplifies the overall atmosphere there - very few seemed happy to be there.
We have been to Shinto a couple of time. Never a disappointment. The hibachi chef was fantastic and entertaining. The wait staff friendly and attentive (but not overly so). The price is a little high, but well worth it for a special occasion or get-together. If you want a true "dining experience", try Shinto.
If it weren't for the inept waitress, who brought out our soup, salad and appetizers at the same time, and asked me three times what kind of vodka i wanted in my martini, it would have been great.. We were at a hibachi table and felt rushed through our experience..
I'm not sure whats the point of making a reservation here. New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day were both messed up. On New Years they didn't even have our reservation and I had the email and they said we could be seated in 2 hours. And then for Valentine's Day she said we had hibachi reservations when we wanted sushi so we had to sit at the bar. Very disappointed and both times it was the same hostess. It stinks that the food is so good or we probably would never come back.
If you order steamed rice, it comes later than the fried rice that has to be cooked. It should be brought out sooner since that is something that should be available on hand.
Our cook was very polite but the cook next to him was very obnoxious. The obnoxious cook sprayed my mother with water when he was putting it away. He apologized but needs to be more careful. The obnoxious cook also made the comment about our cook not being Asian which was not very nice. We liked our cook, race does not matter.
The server put one of our orders on the other group's tab which caused a lot of confusion and caused both us and the other group to wait a really long time. It was obvious who was on each others group as we had an empty seat in between us.
Great venue and great food. Appetizers and cocktails were on point. Cooks and Servers need more training.
Shinto's is a place that my entire extended family enjoys. We try to get eight to ten people together so that we have a table all to ourselves. The food is always prepared correctly, in nice proportions and without a long wait time. The cooks are always entertaining and seem to enjoy the place as much as the customers. I would highly recommend Shinto's to those who have never been there. Everyone that I have ever talked to about the Shinto experience has always praised and complimented the entire experience. That alone speaks highly of Shinto's. My favorite server goes by the name "papi" (although I doubt that papi is a derivative of his real name.
We sat at a regular table, away from the hibachi and the noise level was awful. Four of us at a small table could not hear one another. We ordered meals and sushi and the sushi did not arrive until we were nearly done eating our meals. Poor timing and poor ambiance. We will not go back.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was fun and lively. My only complaint is that the portions are small. Three people in our group ordered scallops. When the chef started cooking there were eight scallops which cannot be evenly divided between three people so I don't understand what the portion size was supposed to be. He just kept cutting them into smaller pieces until he could make an equal amount. At other hibachi restaurants the serving size is 4 scallops per person. The cost is definitely not worth the portion size.
Went there for the first time had a reservation for 830 got there early and was told would have to wait even though there was three tables open the whole time. Barmaid only brought 4 of 5 drinks the first time and had to ask again. After being seated waited ten minutes for server to finally recognize us. Only positive part was the chef which was Oliver very good and entertaining for the kids.
Food was excellent with the fun of the hibachi experience enjoyed by all including four adults, two teens and two small children (3 & 5). Excellent sushi options in addition to the hibachi fare, with extra note to the enormous delicious scallops. On the more expensive side, but food is plentiful, well prepared, and you get the entertainment of table-side presentation. Surprisingly loud on a Friday evening, but very upscale atmosphere as well.
I made a reservation and the hostess put us at a table with strangers saud it was group seating. I asked for our own table I would not want to share my dinner with strangers and with 4 ladies they may not have liked our conversation ha ha. I had no idea it was group seating.
We went to Shinto as a group of 5 for a birthday and the food was great as usual, but we did request a specific chef and did not get him. We also went for a birthday and Shinto did not do anything for our birthday person like they normally would. We go to Shinto at least 3 to 4 times a year and this time was a disappointment
Went to Shinto as a group of 2 two couple to celebrate our friends 25th wedding anniversary which I did put on the reservation I had made. The server taking our order was surprised to hear of it. Wish we would have had a more "talented" cook at our hibachi table to make it a more memorable dining experience rather than just watching him cook the food. Other tables had their cooks putting on quite a show. Ours didn't even have good aim when he tried to toss the chicken bits to people at our table missing much more than were successfully caught. Having been there before I expected a better dining experience than what we got and left feeling disappointed. My husband ordered steamed rice and was given friend rice. Then they brought his steamed rice out after his meal was already eaten. Not happy with the service this time at all. The food was delicious. My salmon & scallops were quite tasty.
