Excellent service waitress made us feel very welcome since we are retuning guests
Presentation of the food is perfect , Shine is our favorite Asian Restaurant in the Lincoln Park Area
The service here is excellent! Our server-Cheryl-was so courteous, and she really knew the menu well.
We ordered 4 Sushi rolls-all were excellent, but in particular, the roll with the Kobe Beef is delicious, and such a treat!
We will definitely be back again for dinner soon!
This place has been mine and my wife's go-to for amazing asian influenced food. Staff is super friendly and the food is great.
Our server, Cherry, was excellent. She was very attentive and accommodating and had excellent suggestions for our children. The tuna tartar was tasty as was the skinny maki. My husband had the golden dragon maki and he was very happy with that choice. My lychee martini was super tasty!!
Have come to Shine for 10+ years. For some reason service and food were well sub par but due large party size, we were automatically charged a service fee. Not right for bad experience.
Cute place with great food! Full bar with specialty cocktails. Yum!
Not as good as it used to be. Crispy noodles neither crispy or noodles.
Food was great, loved the Shanghai soup dumplings. The atmosphere was good, not too crowded and the service was great. Staff was all very friendly - highly recommend!
Service was...strange. The bus boy kept shoving his elbow in my face, and was at our table so much he should have just sat down. Contrarily, the actual server was slow on food and drink delivery, then disappeared. Food was okay - I'd go back to other Asian fusion restaurants before doing this one again.
This place is consistently good with a great variety on their menu. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a nice sushi restaurant in Lincoln Park.
Food and service were quite good. It was comfortable for 6 adults and 3 little kids, with large portions of tasty foods. We were looking for a new go-to Chinese restaurant and we found it! Shine On!
The food was good however the pad Thai did not taste like pad Thai. Maybe cause it's an Asian restaurant and not Thai specifically? Ended up ordering something else... the beef and broccoli which was out of this world good! So just be aware it may not taste like what you are accustomed to but there are good dishes to be had.
Authentic, clean. Nice tea service. Appreciate the warm hand cleanser as we were seated. Food never disappoints.
Always great service & great food!!!
Generally good food and service, but food was overly salty.
The food was fresh and so tasty. My husband and I gave our 20 year old daughter the choice of any restaurant in Chicago for her birthday dinner, and Shine was her one and only pick. WE LOVE THIS RESTAURANT
Amazing service, great food, friendly staff. Highly recommended
Amazing sushi options. We decided to try the saki menu and the waitress seemed knowledgeable and we were not disappointed!
Better than ever! Still family owned, as in the last 30++ years. Delightful environment, best of the best Asian, and customer focused food. Lovely evening - !!
The services was poor but the food is ok. We were set next to ths bathroom even though place was empty. They then refused to move us to a different table because they are "going to be busy". The server was polite but inattentive. When we left there were still plenty of empty tables in main area.
The BEST Sushi! I love Shine & come her often. I try other places, but nothing is as good as Shine!
My husband have been coming to Shine for over 7 years. Shine is our only go to place for sushi. We live in the city of Chicago. Need I say more!
Delicious food. Great cocktails. Good option for more upscale Chinese foods.
Love Shine, I recommend this restaurant to everyone!
We've visited Shine on a few separate occasions the past few years. Our visit this past Saturday left us feeling no desire to return anytime soon. The service was extremely slow. We got there before most the tables around us, and they all received their food, drinks and checks well before we did. We asked for a 2nd round of drinks before our food came out (after we sat around with empty drinks for 10 minutes), and our food arrived but no other drinks ever did. We felt neglected. The food was also less than stellar. In the past, it was always tasty, but the sushi this weekend tasted soggy and old. We were concerned we were actually going to get sick. I hate to write about a bad experience, but after enjoying Shine many times before, we just aren't sure we'll go back. It was expensive and there are other sushi places in the area that have much better service and food.
We came for its authentic Shanghainese cuisine and it didn’t disappoint us! Good to fiinally find this gem in the center of city.
Tip: If you want an authentic Shanghainese meal, you got to call 1-2 days in advance so the kitchen can get all the ingredients. Just add its WeChat account for easy communication.
We have been there several times and have always enjoyed the food. The service is quite special tho ... very friendly and efficient.
Excellent service with delicious food at a great value. Love the neighborhood feel of the location and the ability to dine outside. The best Pad Thai I have found in the city!
Very good service and extensive menu - will have to return to try more items
Great food. Good service. We try to stop by when we are in the area. We love the sesame chicken. Sushi rolls and very good also.
A little rushed
Why no points!
Great food and friendly, efficient service. We go back regularly.
The sushi was really great. We liked every roll and the service was wonderful. There were couples and families dining and I can imagine when it warms up that the front windows will open and it will be a really fun summer place to grab sushi and drinks.
Secret Shanghainese menu :)
Always a solid meal--- everything was super fresh and flavorful. Fantastic and a testament to ownership that the quality has stayed so high after all these years.
Came here with a Living Social and will definitely be back! Didn't realize we had such a great place only a few blocks from our home. The staff were all extremely friendly and the food was awesome! A very nice size portion and at affordable prices. I think my favorite part was they had a mix of Sushi, Chinese, and Thai options. The menu can appeal to all sorts of eaters.
Definitely left feeling like we got a great deal, and not just because of the Living Social voucher. Looking forward to going back!
We went to Shine for lunch with a party of 10. We had 6 children with us. The service was attentive and we had no problem with getting seated and cared for. The food was absolutely delicious and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Two of us are gluten free. They were very knowledgable and the sushi we ordered was outstanding. We will definitely be back again whenever visiting the area.
The table was pretty sticky, service was slow (albeit Valentine's Day, so they were slammed). The edamame shells seemed old and weren't sliding off nicely, kept getting extra shell with every bite. Miso soup was not good, which I don't know if I've ever had bad miso soup until then? Sushi was underwhelming. They charged $15 for a corking fee, which I think they did just because it was Valentine's Day because their menu says no corkage fee Mon-Thurs... I am not sure why sushi places in Chicago can get away with being kind of dirty, have sub-par sushi and slow service and still survive. It's pretty close to home, but I don't forsee myself going back...
