Please note that this is not a bespoke course, but rather a compilation of our existing menu and specials of the day. Designed for sharing, this menu is perfect for groups of two or more and requires a minimum of two guests. To ensure availability, reservations are required. The Omakase menu is priced per person and excludes tax and gratuity. Beverages are not included in the course but can be added at an additional cost. Very unwelcoming environment. We were seated at the sushi bar, where the chef (big guy w tattoos) didn't say 2 words to us. There's no menu, just a slip to check off your sushi items, so that means no food descriptions. Which usually isnt a problem as the chef will explain what you're eating. But not here! We ordered an assortment of starters and had no idea what anything was. Is this a soup, or a garnish, or a little bowl to wash your hands? Who knows!? The nigiri was fresh and well made, and the rolls were tasty even though we had no idea what was in them. I'd usually order a few rounds at a place like this, but this chef clearly didn't want us there so we left after the first round. Stopped at In n Out where the cashier was much more professional :)

My son and always come here when I visit him and it’s always AMAZING! The fish quality is superb and my son doesn’t eat sushi and enjoys the caprese Salad and the Waygu steak! Everything is delicious and the service is impeccable. I highly recommend!!

Excellent quality sushi grade fish. It’s the closest thing you’re going to get to a real authentic Japanese restaurant in America. Pricey but worth it. Make sure to try the wagyu steak with the truffle butter, etc - it’s to die for. We go all the time. We love it there.

The food and our sushi chef were incredible, sadly the other sushi chef (tall male) was entertaining but talked very loudly to to other guests at the sushi bar who were talking obscenely loud and cussing loudly as well. Lastly, our food server never checked on us once the food was brought out, never refilled our drinks or water, and took quite a while to run our bill. It’s sad the tips are pooled since our sushi chef was incredible but our server was very sub par.

Food was good but not as good as in many recent past visits. Unfortunately, the lady server was the weak link of our evening, as she was not attentive and was not very kindly. She seemed distracted and put off with any questions we had about specials or new additions to the fresh board and menu she could recommend. We spent about $300 on dining for the 2 of us and our waitress summarily dismissed us after 1.5 hrs, telling us that they needed the table (BTW: There were multiple tables available and not in use at the time). We were not told in advance of this limited table time and we were merely wanting to finish our sake and final course (as we explained to our waitress) when we were told to wrap it up and leave ASAP. It was very poorly handled and when we expressed confusion due to the poor communication skills of the server, she seemed more irritated and dismissive as she waved her hands and demonstrated our getting up and leaving. Sadly, we left with a very poor taste in our mouth as we have never had this type of experience here before. In fairness, the rest of the staff was attentive and friendly and we were relieved for that.

Phenomenal sushi experience. From the actual cuts available to the quality, Shimogamo serves perfection. Service is always fast and they walk you through each fish and it’s origin, very knowledgeable staff. We had excellent experiences both times we’ve been here and will definitely be back!
