Shiawase Restaurant
Great night great food great service
This is my go-to sushi place. The staff is so friendly and the sushi is amazing. The lobster roll had a twist, it was served as two pieces, almost like unrolled sushi. It was delicious! And the shell of the lobster tail was placed in the center. Beautiful presentation.
Awesome BYOB, food is great, staff is great. Really recommend with a group
Amazing as always
I ordered the noodle with chicken and jasmine tea. The dish was okay, but I felt like the broth was a bit too thin, it lacked body. The tea was way too bland, I could barely taste the jasmine in there.
In spite of that, service is very good, pleasant, friendly and welcoming.
No ambiance, food way too salty, not an experience worth repeating for me
Great service and yummy food! The owner is also amazing!
The minimalist and clean interior seems in stark contrast with the richness of the food. Fast, accurate and corteous service, wide choice of sushi, sashimi, and the possibility to create your own salad bowl from a list of ingredients that are good when combined. The sushi roll were amazing, and my Shiawase bowl with Ahi poke delicious. They do not serve alcohol but you can bring your own bottle.
The only challenge I had was the background rap music, a bit loud and felt out of context for dining out.
The food was bland. Service was substandard. We were greeted promptly, but then didn't see our waitress again for awhile. One group came in, and they were obscenely loud. They drowned out any other conversation.
One notch above supermarket sushi. Everything is ice cold. And things that were supposed to be hot were just warm. Even the water was served warm.
I don’t think it was actually sushi rice. Again, it tasted just like this grocery store. Had to get the bill twice. The first time we were given somebody else’s bill. Not the greatest first experience eating sushi in our new neighborhood.
BYOB and they offer half rolls! It can get expensive that way, but you can order lots of different sushi wihtout over eating! We went for a friend’s birthday and they let us bring in homemade cake for her!
Very good at all levels. The small poke bowl is a treat if you are looking for something a little different with variety. The sushi itself is affordable and tasty. Some items are quite tasty. Experiment and order something that you haven’t had. Maybe something pink!
Decided to try Shiawase out because it had good reviews. Two out of our four rolls were great, but two were meh. The price was reasonable and it's BYOB so if you don't want amazing sushi it's definitely a spot that could be good.
Some of the best sushi we have ever had!
Sushi rolls were large and very good! If you don't like spicy food, be careful - the spicy rolls are truly spicy! Personally, I love that so I enjoyed them! Edamame was also really good! We went with a large group of girls because it was also BYOB - we brought 4 bottles of wine and had a great time. Overall, I would probably go back!
Average food at best
Shiawase is just down the road from my apartment and I go at least twice a month. Delicious, authentic food for a reasonable price.
Always love coming here. Booked it last minute for V-Day and they were very accomadating and the ambiance was so nice. It was a bit slower than I anticipated, but sushi isn't really considered a customary Valentine's Day meal, so I get that. The staff there is always lovely.
Excellent sushi, great service, and to top it all off its BYOB!!
Just ok - will not return
Great sushi.
I'm frequently dining at this restaurant and the food is always fresh and tasty! Great atmosphere and music.
Another great dinner at Shiawase, the staff are so attentive, (there is always only two girls) they are on top of everything. great service and great tasty food, so accommodating to any menu changes or additions, a great neighborhood gem! I'll be back! :)
As usual, we went for a late lunch. The miso soup was tasty and it many condiments. The sushi rolls are always amazing.
Good sushi and service. BYOB IS AVAILABLE
Robatas excellent. Mexican roll fab.
We always have a great time at Shiawase, the staff and the food are excellent. Did I mention its BYOB...we'll be back!
I made my reserve on (via OpenTable) Saturday April 9th for Saturday the 16th at 8p for 7 people. I went in restaurant the Tuesday before to just make sure we were all set up and the had no idea what I was talking about. I showed her my email and she still said I didnt have one. She ended up just putting me down for one. We show up for our reservation sit down, they ask is to use 9ne of our tables and we said no because it would have literally left 7 people around a four top, so weird that they would even ask us! We had to ask for glasses ,water, fork, plates, soy sauce.....if we would have not gotten up to ask we would have sat there for another 15 mins with no plates to put our food on! When the bill came, the whole thing was chaos! Definitely will not be returning!
Nice place in the Lakeview area. I had beef teriyaki which was good and remainder of party had several types of sushi, which they liked. Miso soup was a little different than I've usually had but very tasty.
I bring everyone I know to Shiawase ! They have great sushi plus its BYOB! I am always impressed by how fresh the fish is.
We go here a lot... It's our favorite byob sushi
We went during Market Days so the restaurant was meant to be very busy. Unfortunately they were short of staff and the service was very slow. Sushi was really good.
We used to frequent this spot when it was kanok. They just reopened after a remodel - unsure if it's new owners or just an update. I like the new layout and the service was great. We had a few maki rolls and were impressed. They did a classic spicy tuna great and the specialty rolls were inventive and tasty.
Maybe a little more BYOB advertising, didn't know until we arrived. Thank the heavens there's a treasure island with a nice selection of wines.
