Excellent Indian cuisine. My go to for Indian in suburban Philadelphia.
This review is not for Shere e Punjab, but for Open Table. I made a reservation on Christmas day and the restaurant wasn't open. Open table did not have the correct information. Regardless of who's fault it is that the restaurant was closed, it was disappointing. I won't be trusting open table in the future.
I had not eaten here for a few years and was looking forward to trying it again. The service was good-staff very helpful. Great mulligatawny soup, but much of the meal was sub-par. Pappadum were stale, cauliflower in aloo gobi had clearly been frozen- soggy in the center and the sauce not very tasty. We did have a great chaat appetizer.
We reserved this venue for lunch after our wedding rehearsal; my fiance is Indian, so we thought it would be nice. When I was ordering my food the waiter asked what spice level I wanted and I said, "1, not spicy at all because I have acid reflux" and that was it. I get my food and it's burning my throat, and then he decides to tell me all the chicken dishes cooked in the tandoori oven are pre-marinated and are medium (3) heat, and it would have taken 30 minutes to cook it fresh. I told him that would have been great to know before I ordered it, and I would have waited but now did not have time because we had ziplining reservations for my bachelorette party. So he brings me a menu and I ask about other food and he basically says everything is pre-marinated except chicken curry. I tell him I don't eat chicken curry and I just want seasoned chicken--nothing in a sauce, but he insists this will be fine. I get it, and it is chicken sitting in a thick sauce which I personally would not touch with a ten foot pole. So I ended up not eating anything all day on my bachelorette party until night time. Also, my wedding party agreed this place had some of the worst naan we've ever tasted. So overall, super disappointed and I have no idea how they have a 4.7 star rating on Google.
Nice decor. Service was very fast. Portion sizes seemed a bit small.
Shere-E-Punjab is one of my favorite local restaurants and the top of my list for Indian cuisine. Be adventurous when ordering - you really can't go wrong. Be prepared to wait for your drink order, we have taken to arriving before our reservation and sitting at the bar for a cocktail before being seated. Problem solved!
Tasty food and nice ambience. Very good service.
The very best Indian food -- ever! We have been here multiple times and are never disappointed. The food is consistently delicious!
We usually go to the restaurant maybe once a month. It never disappoints and the people are always top notch. If you're in Glen Mills this is a definite must stop
My husband, daughter, granddaughter and I went to Shere e Punjab for my birthday - because it was located midway between my daughter's house and our house and we love Indian food. Both the service and the food were very good. We shared a wonderful gobi pakora (cauliflower fritters) appetizer as well as samosas. My daughter ordered a vegetarian saag dish while I ordered the saag with chicken and my husband ordered a lamb curry. All were very tasty and the portions were generous. One is able to choose from 5 levels of spiciness which greatly pleased my granddaughter who can't tolerate spicy food. We were very pleased with our meals and would definitely return.
Shere-E-Punjab makes the best Indian dishes I've ever eaten.
Booked Shere-E-Punjab because it was on the way from the airport to my hotel for a business trip and I was craving Indian food. I am so glad I did. My wife and I lived in the UK for awhile and I have not had lamb curry of this high quality since then. Everything was fantastic and the service attentive. I will definitely be back.
Excellent food and very attentive service, outstanding naan and terrific spicy chef's special
This place has become a regular for us . The food is always great and the staff is very attentive.
Excellent food, large portions, flexible seating. The prices are a little bit higher than average but are well compensated by the large portion size. The service was very helpful, but not too cheerful. Next time will opt for a takeout.
Food and service-both great!
What a find. Food was great across the board. Veggie pakoras were excellent. Main dishes, although a bit mild, tasted great. The dessert (gajar halwa) was just average, but I look forward to trying other desserts next time I dine here. The only big downside was that I mentioned that I was celebrating a birthday on my reservation with Opentable and there was absolutely no acknowledgement of it by the staff or manager. My local go-to Indian restaurant treats us better for special occasions usually bringing us a complimentary dessert and thanks us for celebrating a birthday with them.
The food is very good if you like Indian. There are lots of choices on the menu including vegetation. Portions are large - there were 6 of us and three entree's plus two appetizers was sufficient. One of the people in our party cannot eat anything too spicy so it is great that one can choose degree of "heat" for each dish.
We have been to this restaurant before and will continue to come for a good meal with Indian spices.
Service was prompt and attentive. Full bar service is available. Food was deliciously spiced and the portions were generous. Our meal included vegetable samosas, pashawari naan, murg saag, and chicken tikka masala. Will definitely return.
Delicious, Authentic Indian Food. We were able to sit right down and our server came immediately to our table for our drink order. Our appetizer was delious and came out quickly. Our entrees were well seasoned and the size was generous. My daughter loved that she could chose the spice level of her meal. Definitely will go back again!
Always a delight! Food never disappoints. Bursting with flavor and amazing how lamb is consistently tender! No hesitation recommending Shere-E-Punjab! Unquestionably tops for Indian food in the Philly region.
Creative Indian food! Beautiful, modern, clean. Well-stocked bar. Highly recommended!
Funny location, but we found it and have gone back a few times.
Service was great and always with a smile. Food was delicious with a range of heat that will satisfy any taste. If you haven't been, plan on going.
We found the food here to be very authentic and delicious. The naan bread basket sampler was irresistible and our entrees, lamb vindaloo and shrimp masala were SO GOOD! We were too full for dessert this trip but will definitely return soon!
My boyfriend (now fiancé!) brought me here to this restaurant a year ago. We are now regulars at this establishment and love the food! As we are both of Indian descent (me being North Indian and he being South Indian), we are very familiar with the various cuisines of the Indian culture. The food here is always fresh and made-to-order with regards to the level of spice. The wait staff is very courteous and the owner of the restaurant is always chatting with us when we stop in for a late dinner on weekends. Highly recommended!
Delicious Indian Food in a nice atmosphere, we will definitely return. We had Korma and Masala and both were flavorful and authenticity Indian; we chose a level 3 medium-spicy and would probably go with a 2 next time. Naan was big, one should be enough for two people. Prices seemed a little higher ($2.00 higher per entrée) than other local Indian food.
Place was busy, which is a good sign.
The food is amazing and our family always has a great time. We especially order their kabobs...so tasty! We look forward to our next visit! Btw, this place is great for any occasion.
Very good food, very nice portions and a great value. I would recommend ordering only one entre and splitting it between two people.
We were delighted to find this Restaraunt a few weeks ago and brought a group for New Year's Eve. Great food, great service, full bar and decent wine list.
Enjoyed an evening with friends. The food and service was good not crowded so was nice to be able to talk.
Waiter made several good choice suggestions and the dishes were delicious! Large portions.
Lamb masala was awesome. Cannot get better than this.
The Shrimp ginger garlic starter needs a lot of improvement. (Very bland)
Very nice staff and service.
Great lunch buffet selection. Everything was delicious!
The food at Shere-E-Punjab has always been wonderful, now happily the service is good as well. We were seated promptly and enjoyed courteous, attentive service with an appropriate pacing of our multiple courses. We, as always, ordered more food than we could eat and happily left with enough for lunch the next day.
Food was different than other Indian restaurants and was outstanding
Buffet lunch is nice because you get to taste everything without committment. No worries though, all was delicious.
Outstanding Indian food!
Shere-E-Punjab in Glenn Mills is open every day of the week for lunch & dinner & also has a Sunday brunch. They have a nice selection of Indian food, beer, wine & cocktails. The three of us sat at an outside which was quite nice. Our server was Indian & although we had a bit of difficulty understanding him at first, he was quite good & knowlegeable. We started the evening with an assortment of Tandoori breads which included four flavors of Naan, which were all warm & tasty. Next we ordered a sample plate of appetizers which again we all enjoyed. One of my friends tried the Lamb Karahi (lamb sauteed with ginger, garlic, scallions, green pepper & tomatoes), the other had the Murg Makhani (chicken cooked in the Tandoor in a tomatoe, onion & herb sauce), & I tried the Murg Vindaloo (boneless chicken in a special spiced sauce and potatoes). All were served with the typical Basmati rice. Everyone enjoyed their Indian dishes & all of us thought we received a lot of food for the price. As a matter of fact, we all took a piece of Naan & a small portion of our dinners home. We really enjoyed our experience & would recommend you give this place a try.
The menu. offers a good selection, and all dishes ordered burst with flavor. Rich but not overly heavy, and always excellent quality. The bread (naan), especially when served warm, is outstanding . As a warning, the levels of 'spicy' (1 to 5) can be misleading - 3 is already very hot, 4 near unbearable..
