Went there for our anniversary, had a quiet table by the huge windows that looked out over the Island all the way to the Gulf.
From being greeted at the entrance to our final goodbye the entire staff was friendly and attentive without being hovering.
Cocktails were well made and brought without delay.
There were several food choices that were not run-of-the-mill; we selected a couple of those. Food was well prepared and season perfectly.
After our main course was finished, Damian D. our server, suggested that we go across the hall to the bar and have our dessert while watching the sunset over Offats Bayou. Lovely thought on his part.
We took his suggestion and finished up our dining with a marvelous cheesecake and a bit of sparkling wine while watching the sun go down.
We will be back.
Great staff!! If you are a semi regular they try to remember what your favorite beverages and your regular orders. We try to get here a least once every 6 weeks.
Seafood was delicious. Shrimp appetizer in marsala sauce wasa favorite. The snapper special was also outstanding. Service was attentive. The kitchen was a little slow due to a large party (it was a Saturday night), but the view was mesmerizing so we didn't mind a little extra wait. One improvement recommendation for management is to refine the coffee program. All servers should know how to make a espresso, latte, cappuccino at this type of establishment.
One of my all time favorite places to eat. Definitely going back
Shearn's is always fabulous! Lobster bisque, a Perfect Summer Cocktail, fabulous snapper, and profiteroles for dessert. Wonderful dinner, top-notch service.
Good food and a great view. Waiter was attentive, without being obtrusive.
The shrimp masala starter is really good.
The only disappointment was my wife had the surf and turf. The beef was perfect but the lobster was tough.
The lounge had a great sunset view and Piano entertainment. Ended up staying the whole night! The service and food were awesome as well.
Service and food were exceptional.
Average experience at a high price.
We have eaten at Shearn"s many times over they years-- enjoying the food and ambience especially for special occasions such as this was our 47 th wedding anniversary. The service after being seated was a little slow but the pace improved. Dessert soufflés are excellent!
Not sure why the question is asked "is this a special occasion" when nothing special happens. Nevertheless it was a excellent dinner.
We have been to Shearns before........certainly the best restaurant in the Galveston area. Food is always wonderful.....special was filet mignon with lobster thermidor .....WOW...this restaurant serves the best meat (not Texas beef) and service was impeccable. Their monthly specials as well as wine nights combined with the best views in town.....Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We absolutely love Shearns, the Service and Food and Cocktails are Always impeccable!!
From the Steaks to Lobster you just can't go wrong here.
Many thanks to the staff for always making our evenings so Special!!
It was great, Michael was an awesome server. I would go well over & beyond to recommend this dinning establishment!!
Awesome service , awesome food!
Went with my family. They don't have a kids menu, but were accommodating to us. However, that meant three kids shared 2 adult steaks, which was NOT cheap. On the bright side, the meals were fantastic. I can grill a fantastic steak myself and often worry I will spend a bunch on a steak I could outdo on my own for less...that wasn't the case here. I don't know where they get their steaks, but they are better than anything I have access.
What an awesome place for my husband's birthday dinner! The view is lovely. Our cocktails and food were so delicious especially the lobster bisque, the warm spinach salad and our fresh gulf fish entrees. The ambience is the best yet of any restaurant we've been to. Our waiter, Mark, was the best. This wasn't our first visit and it won't be our last!
Beautiful Place... Our favorite place in Galveston
Beautiful, classy setting. Great service. Panoramic view. But more "heavy meats" than seafood on the menu.
The most awesome place in Galveston
We came back to Shearn’s because of our experience in December. We had the same waiter, Michael & he did an excellent job once again. Service and food are both excellent!
This restaurant is always wonderful and dependably good. The special for the month of February was a great value. The red snapper was the best we have had and the chocolate cake could have fed a table of four - a great dessert. The wait staff is well trained and very accommodating and helpful. They are always kind and respectful and seem to really like working at Shearns - always a good sign in a restaurant.
This was our first visit. We had been told by the long time locals it is a must do experience. My ribeye was cooked perfectly. I was disappointed when an expensive meat was served with a sauce. The taste was very good; good beef should be able to stand alone with sauce on the side. The Red Snapper had by my husband was very good but he said he has had better. Oh and the view, we missed that due to the fog. The service started slow but finished strong. The noise level was calm and quiet until a boisterous group of 10 arrived trying to speak to the other end of their table. They calmed when dinner arrived. Still a good night
Greatest cuisine of steaks and seafood! Almost becoming regular patrons and we are always welcomed with smiles. Great staff, scenic view, creative menu, and never a dull moment! A true gem just a few blocks from our home!
Another great experience at Shearn’s - great ambience, fantastic food and attenative service. The lounge next door with live music and dancing makes this the complete night.
Shearn's offers a quiet atmosphere (rare today) with a great view of Galveston. The food was good though not out of the ordinary in comparison to other top Galveston seafood restaurants. Well - the chocolate cake may have outdone other places! However, the service, the view, and the ambiance are well worth a visit. Would definitely return particularly for a special occasion.
Table was ready when we arrived, servers attended the table as soon as we were seated,
drinks were served, then excellent meal was served timely and of course dessert was very tasty.
Nice dinner at Shearn's. Pretty good wine list. Great for date or business meeting.
This was our first visit and will certainly not be our last. We've been talking about coming to Shearns for quite some time. I'm glad we finally made it happen.
We love eating at Shearn’s. The food is always wonderful and the staff is terrific. Always a great time.
We've been going to Shearn's for many years and they just seem to be in a lull right now. It feels like there's no leadership / team... just kind of empty. The food is always good, but for the price it should be outstanding. I had to leave half my steak this time because it was too tough. Where as it used to be a favorite, I'm sad to report these seem to be tough times for Shearn's....
All we can say is wow
Some of the food can be a little bland. Service was excellent.
Excellent service, good food and beautiful views from the top floor dining.
We always enjoy our dining at Shearns. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is great and the staff is superb. I highly recommend this fine dining establishment.
Myself and four women dined there for a friends birthday and for restaurant week. We were approached with menus, but had to ask for the restaurant week special menu.
We were ignored during the meal-not sure why-maybe because we were women not ordering ala carte? We did drink two bottles of wine, but had to ask for the second one to be opened when all of our glasses were empty. It was so bad that one of my guests asked out waiter, “It seems as though you are having a very bad night.” To which our waiter just smiled and stares at her. I had requested that both bottles of wine be put on my bill, but when the bills came, the wine had been split among all of the checks. There was no mention of my guests birthday.
All in all it could have been a lovely evening, but instead I found myself apologizing for the terrible treatment.
Lovely spot with a great view and outstanding food. We went for Restaurant Week and were very pleased with the menu and the food. An added plus is Steve who plays piano in the lounge across the hallway from the restaurant: a nice way to finish off the evening!
We enjoyed the Restaurant Week special menu. Excellent food and value.
Restaurant is old, needs renovation. Food was just ok. A lot of hype no substance. View was the best part and not even that great.
Excellent every time we dine at Shearn’s.
Ambiance and exceptional service. Great view as well from the bar. Keep up the great job.
As always a lovely dinner ! Food service and ambience were wonderful. Always have a great time st Shearn’s and it’s a great value during restaurant week!
