I had the veal chop, escargot and lobster Mac and Cheese. My wife had the scallops. Everything was excellent. They even gave me a free chocolate cake with candles for my birthday. Oscar was our waiter and he was very attentive, top notch server. I could not have had a better birthday dinner. Also, my wife has a gluten allergy and they were very accommodating and had many offerings to choose from.

Great drinks. Fantastic service. Wonderful view. Best of all food was great. Snapper melt in your mouth. Shrimp pasta so flavorable Desert very good. The New Chef is great. Much improvement from last year! Great place for a special trip occasion!

My wife and I were excited about going to this steakhouse. 1st. The ambiance was nice and we were seated promptly. That’s when things got ridiculous. We arrived at 6:30 and didn’t get out of there until 9:30. That was not because we were having a great time and didn’t want to leave,. It was because it to 45 minutes between each course to get out to the table. Not sure if this is all related to the pandemic and they are short staffed. But coming on the place was not packed. I normally don’t leave these kind of reviews but y’all have to do better. You’re not Outback Steakhouse so don’t act like it.

This was our first time at the restaurant. I had made the reservation to celebrate our anniversary. We were promptly greeted and in fact, were able to be seated early. Having never eaten there before, we needed some time to read over the menu. Our waiter Oscar was very attentive and not overbearing at all and gave us all the time that we needed. My wife ordered the salmon dish and I had the daily special Chilean Seabass. My wife enjoyed her salmon dish immensely however, my CBS was not to my liking as it has a dill and parsley coating on it that I did not enjoy. We shared a huge slice of New York style cheesecake for dessert and it was delicious! My wife had a Mexican coffee with the dessert And she said it was the best she’s ever had. In all, it was a very enjoyable evening, the views of the surrounding grounds are quite nice from the restaurant. We will definitely be back!

We came all the way from Sugar Land just to eat here after reading good reviews. They were right on! We met some friends here and we all really enjoyed it. Great 9th floor view and great food. Perfect night

We have always enjoyed dining at Shearns, I believe it has the best views of Galveston. I was a little disappointed that the dress code appeared to have been very relaxed since my last visit,( shorts worn in the dining room and beach wear in the he bar area.

Experience was very enjoyable. Bar/lounge with live music was a great end to a busy work week which then continued in the dining room with equally good views high above the island and wonderful food and service. Always a pleasure to dine here and also watch the beautiful sunsets.

We eat here every time we visit Galveston and always ask for Sergio (who always takes good care of us) to be our server. The food, service and island views from the top floor setting are great. The new chef Nico is doing a great job with great tasting well presented dishes. We had Shrimp cocktail huge firm shrimp) and seared scallops (with apple accents) as appetizers, both were amazing. My wife had crab cake starter for her main and I had the sea bass special and we shared the lobster mash potato side. The flavors were amazing and the fish was cooked just right and flaky (not dry or overcooked which can easily happen with fish). Advice: Make sure you have a reservation and ask for a window table seat in Sergio's section.

From one of the top rated restaurants in the Galveston area I was expecting much better. We ordered the charcuterie board as an app. While it was quite large, it came with pickled veggies, prosciutto and the cheese was not too simplified.... smoked cheddar, pepper jack. Who wants to eat pepper jack with wine? I was expecting some blue or softer type goat cheese. Next we both ordered filet mignon. Good cut of meat and cooked as we asked for but no seasoning. The best part of the meal was the desert. We shared a cheese cake that was very good.

Two of my tablemates enjoyed their meal. One left half the crab cake uneaten. I ordered the 14 oz. veal chop. Veal is supposed to be the flesh of a calf, young, tender, lean meat. Mine consisted of about half fat concealed from view by a dense, brown gravy. How a young calf could have accumulated such a store of fat is a mystery. My guess: they served a mutton chop by mistake. I got about six decent bites out of the 14 ounces. Hugely disappointing. I've eaten there before and been satisfied with the meals, so maybe the kitchen had an off-night. The noise level, augmented by floor-to-ceiling windows, made conversation difficult. I'll recommend Shearns based on previous experience, but it will be quite a long time before I'll consider returning.

Service was outstanding. Food was good, with a few vegetarian selections, and was made to order. A few noisy guests and kids running around took away from the experience a bit. But, we had an ocean view, 1/2 price wine, good food, candle light and wonderful service. Overall we would go back and would recommend.

It was convenient to be on the 9th floor of hotel especially with young kids. The waiter was nice the staff as well. Nice ambiance with the big windows if you glare seated by the windows it's nice if you catch the sunset. Cons: Food took a long time to come out, the price was high and didn't include sides on steak and salmon. If you ordered sides for example Mac and cheese or mash potatoes they each cost $10. The food was good, but ot wasn't the best I've ever had at a steakhouse. I would have loved it having the extras to join the main course.

Great food. Very expensive, but my family enjoyed every bite. And the dessert...oh my dessert. Yum! It was a treat for my family. We can't do that often, but it was worth it. And we left stuffed! The waiter was so friendly and helpful too.

Had to send steak back 3 times to get medium well. Server was more interested in flirting with the hostess than making sure I had soda. The place is dated and living on their former reputation they did not get 4 diamonds on the experience I had.

The food was just OK. I had very high expectations and I don't feel like they were met. I heard about the amazing view but the view is of a Waterpark which I didn't find extraordinary. The cocktails were expensive and not great.
