My wife and I took my cousin 83 and her friend 86 to celebrate her birthday. This was our first visit to Shearn's but we will definitely go back. First, after all the noisy restaurants that are "fashionable' today it was wonderful to find one that is quiet so you can actually talk. Second, it is on the 6th floor of the hotel at Mood Gardens and you have a view out over the Island ... the best view of the sunset would actually be from the lounge next to the restaurant, but - from the restaurant you have a great view of the twinkly lights of Galveston at night. Third, the service was wonderful, it was professional and attentive but not annoyingly disruptive. Fourth, the food was simply excellent - beautifully presented and tasty. This is the kind of place that is great for a celebration or special occasion and good enough for you to invest one if you don't really have one. It is not cheap but, it is quite reasonable for a place of this quality and certainly competitive other nice restaurants in Galveston.
Impeccable service, delicious food and gorgeous views .
Always superb food/! The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend Shearns!
We have enjoyed dining at Shears in the past, and brought our friends who are new to Texas on this last visit (transplanted from Chicago to the San Antonio area). They said the steaks were the best they've had in the 2 years they've lived here! The wine list is mostly reasonable, the sides are a good portion, and the lobster bisque was excellent. The service was very good and the timing was just about right. The waiter neglected to bring one of the sides (or was it a salad?) but comped the dessert souffles to make up for it. Thanks for a great meal, we will be back!
Excellent views of Galveston. Restaurants top notch. The staff provides excellent service. Food is exquisite and the dining room provides a very nice ambience.
Our family enjoyed a fantastic Sunday brunch of crab cake Benedict, Oscar Benedict, French Toast, Vichyssoise and a round of Bloody Marys. Everything was exceptional, including our waiter Oscar. We definitely will be back!
The staff at Shearn’s did a great job handling our party of ten, with Damian as the head waiter.
Amazing experience… As is customary here. Won’t be our first, or last dinner at Shearn’s
“Talented” isn’t an adequate adjective to describe Chef Cedric ... he really is so much more. It’s something best experienced, rather than described.
Then there’s the quality of service... matching, with compliment, the exquisite culinary creations of Chef C.
Emmett the manager and Michael our server (second time) made my son’s birthday dinner an absolute delight. I’m confident this is the standard at Shearn’s, and wholeheartedly recommend dining here for any occasion....or “just because”.
We come here for our anniversary every year. It is always phenomenal! I can't say enough good about it. It's a beautiful restaurant with an exceptional view. The service is always on point. The food is delicious and I've never been disappointed. They treated us extra special this year and we can't wait to go back!
Was really looking forward to it,,,3 couples in whole room,,,,and we got two loud talkers right next to us.
I ordered founder, didn’t taste right ,,,,,so didn’t eat much.....got terrible dysentery the next day
At 84 can’t chance such a problem ever again....Shearns has always provided a wonderful evening while we were in town.....this time not good........
Always a treat! We hadn’t been in awhile and the food was amazing.
They say the pleasure in a restaurant meal is the "lingering." Shearns apparently takes that dictum to heart inasmuch as it took a full hour and ten minutes from our arrival until the food was served. The restaurant was not particularly busy at the time, so I don't know what caused the delay. Still, the spectacular 9th floor view of the Schlitterbahn and the rest of the island made the waiting palatable. Food (shrimp/corn bisque, grilled snapper with tomato and fennel plus Brussels sprouts) was about average. The ambiance is pleasantly upscale. The maître d' confirmed that he was informed from our reservation that this was a special occasion (my wife's birthday) but they did nothing to commemorate the event. (A complimentary desert with a candle is customary in upscale restaurants.)
Birthday brunch. Wonderful service. Food delicious as previous visit. Had a live musician, sang happy birthday to our daughter. She was thrilled!
The Sunday brunch was excellent. Food, view and service were all terrific. Guitarist/singer John Carl Escue was a wonderful surprise. His musicianship was first rate, his arrangements of popular songs were really imaginative and the volume was perfect. A really nice experience all round.
Red snapper is amazing
The chocolate dessert with beets ice cream was superb
This has to be the best restaurant in Galveston!
Amazing dinner! Delicious food and impeccable service
We enjoyed a wonderful double birthday at shearns. The manager and wait staff were extremely knowledgeable and kind. We were greeted, seated, and served with no waiting and were never left wanting. The Houston Restaurant weeks menu was superb and we were glad that Shearns participates in this program. Every course was executed perfectly and they even offered special desserts for our birthdays. I would have my birthday here every year if I could! Thank you for a memorable evening.
Wonderful experience. Food was fantastic and the service was incredible. They treated us like royalty. Will definitely return for another great dining experience.
They had a live guitar player that was relaxing. The views, staff and food were all amazing as well! Best lump crab appetizer and they put lump crab on the crab cakes Benedict! I wrote a special note to write my sisters name next to happy birthday on her dessert plate and they did! Such a fun, special experience. I wish they had brunch all year long, but you only have a few weekends of summer left to go try the best brunch in Galveston!
From beginning to end, our dinner was superb! Michael is a wonderful asset to Shearn’s, and he always makes the evening run beautifully, despite multiple courses for the four of us. We are so lucky to have such a nice fine dining place in Galveston!
We had a fantastic meal and overall experience. Food and service were both excellent, and the view was fantastic!
We eat here every time we're in Galveston. The food and service have always been immaculate, until this time. My crab appetizer was filled with little bits of crabshell. It wasn't just one bite that I could discreetly remove and then enjoy the rest of the dish. Every single bite had shell in it. I finally gave up on eating it. I told the server, and he apologized and said he would mention it to the chef. I thought maybe they would take that item off the bill, but they didn't. Then, when my husband ordered coffee after dinner, it was lukewarm. We didn't mention that at the time, because it wasn't a big deal by itself, but looking back, it reminded me of the earlier problem and left us with a feeling of disappointment.
The steaks were great, the soufflés were awesome, and the service prompt. As always, the atmosphere and views were beautiful. So I will say I recommend Shearn's, because maybe this was just a bad day for them. I certainly hope they are not starting to decline.
Tuesday is steak and lobster for $29!! Great to split and add a salad too.
Fabulous Service, Food and Ambiance. One of the few quiet restaurants in Galveston. We were celebrating hubby’s and daughter’s birthdays. They brought beautiful pieces of cake. Hubby and daughter shared the Chateaubriand, which was perfect. I had a grouper with shrimp special, that was very good. The accompanying vegetables were outstanding. We also had the tomato burrata salad which was very yummy. After dinner, we had drinks in the bar, where we watched the fireworks and listened to a delightful piano man. Others were dancing and having a great time.
The wait staff and the view was unbelievable. Thank you so much for making my birthday a time to remember
We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. My wife and I had filet and ribeye, respectively, Each of which was tender and well prepared. The view from the ninth floor is beautiful. The service was in all respects top notch. The price is not modest. You hope to get what you pay for and we certainly did.
We have been coming to Galveston for years, and did not know of this place until our son mentioned it,
what a great view!! My husband and I cant wait to go back.
My husband and I go out once a week for a special evening together. We try to frequent different places. We have been to Shearn’s many times and it never disappoints. The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly but professional. We had a lovely meal.
We went to Shearns for the first time after about a year in Galveston.
The experience did not disappoint.
The view was incredible. The staff was especially helpful and not overwhelming. The food was amazing.
If you haven’t tried Shearns yet - do it. You will not regret it.
Ask for Michael, he is the best waiter there, very attentitive.
Lovely dinner, great view
Great surf and turf special but the filet was a bit thinner than I am used to. Wine list could use an update.
Excellent food. Attentive staff. Atmosphere was elegant and upscale. Cannot wait to return.
Beautiful setting and food always good. The service is attentive but not over bearing.
It was very expensive but the food was outstanding.
Awesome view of Galveston bay
We enjoyed our evening out dining at Shearn's The lobster bisque is always a favorite. My husband had the red snapper special which he enjoyed while I opted for the sautéed local flounder in which I was disappointed. It was a little dry and could have used a little more of the browned butter. For dessert, we could not pass up the soufflé's.
Everything was slow, from the drinks to bread to our meal taking an hour to come out. It wasn’t even half full. However, we enjoyed the fresh OJ for the mimosas and that it was served separately, so you could mid your own drink. All of our food was amazing! Crab cake Benedict and Snapper were the best. We will definitely be back for brunch and now to try dinner next, but glad we will now know that it takes a little longer but so worth the wait. The views were awesome too! I bet it’s gorgeous for sunset.
We had a great evening at Shearn's. We had a drink onnthe bar area and watched the sunset before our dinner reservations. Piano entertainer was nice and the views were second to none! Our server was one of the best I've had. He was very professional without being too stuffy or casual. The food was good and the fireworks show was awesome. Cant wait to go back!
I had been to Shearns many years ago and it was memorable so I wanted to go back, and this time was even better than the last. I would highly recommend the Chateaubriand for 2. We had drinks, a perfect sunset view, and the staff was wonderful. We even scooted over to the bar and enjoyed a cocktail & danced to the piano bar while we were waiting for our dinner. The presentation was artistic, top notch, delectable, and as good as any restaurant anywhere I have been. What a magnificent restaurant. This is a hidden gem.
