Shaw's Crab House - Schaumburg Ratings and Reviews
As always the food and service was outstanding. We were served by Barnaby and he was very knowledgeable, helpful, and charming as well. I had the parmesan crusted flounderover a bed of sauteed spinach and it was tasty and prepare just right. My wife had the surf and surf which was lobster and king crab legs. The crab legs were huge and very easy to crack and access the meat. All and all, if one is interested in great seafood dining, Shaw's is hands down one of the best place to go!
Took my wife out for her birthday. Spent over $400 on oysters, crab, and lobster and a few cocktails. All to be expected and had no problem spending the money. Only problem is halfway through our meal they sat a party of 10 obnoxious meatheads right next to us dressed in cutoff shirts who were very loud and really took away from the experience when I thought I was taking my lady out for a classy evening. Oh well. Lots of other restaurants out there to spend my money in.
Shaw’s is good, but not excellent. After appetizers, one drink drink each, and dinner for two, our bill was almost $300. We knew we were going to be spending a lot of money, but the food and portion size was not worth the money. Unfortunately, I wasn’t as satisfied as I had hoped.
I fly into Chicago for a girls’ weekend twice a year and we always do dinner at Shaws as part of our weekend plans. The food is consistent and the service is great (Thanks Marcien-again!) Sad to see Whitehaven come off the wine list, but Kim Crawford is fine. See you in the spring!
We sat at the bar. 1 bartender to service a crowded bar plus a busy wait staff. Bartender was nice but had way too much to cover. Long wait to order food and get a second drink. I ordered the calamari which was very good. The gumbo was not good. No where near authentic. Tasted like it was a tomato base, not a roux. The etoufee sauce was also too tomatoey and thin. They put their food in big wide plates so it looks like you're getting a lot.
My husband and I decided to celebrate our Anniversary at Shaw's. We used Open Table to book the reservation, and I noted it was our Anniversary. My guess is, the host/hostess never looked at our notes. We were seated at the very back of the restaurant, at probably the worst table (I had a great view of the kitchen doors, and my husband got to look at the wait station), and yes, there were much nicer tables available. We were absolutely RUSHED through the entire dinner (if we hadn't had slowed the waiter down we would have been out in 45 minutes) - was he finishing his shift? The food was okay - but I guess the way we were being treated kind of ruined the enjoyment. I really expected more from the place. I would not recommend.
We have visited Shaw's in Schaumburg before. Well worth the drive. We celebrated our wedding anniversary. Shaws is a great place with amazing seafood entrees. I had the Mahi Mahi with a side of mustard green salad with Honey Crisp apple pieces, plus tiny pumpkin seeds sprinkled on top and a vinagrette dressing. Great dish during the Fall Season! Our server was attentive, organized and knew the menu specials and helped pick out a special wine for us to enjoy.
Sadly disappointed. Our reservations were not honored and we had to wait 45 minutes for our table; the valet could not be found, not even by Shaw's staff; the dining room was hot and extremely loud; service from start to finish was inattentive, slow and shockingly insulting. Will not go back.
Although the food and service were great, the noise level was not at all conducive to enjoying a pleasant meal. I do not understand why noisy restaurants want to add music to create even more noise. The tables were so close together, I was almost able to eat with the people at the next table.
I know its a seafood restaurant, but i have been craving Fried Chicken lately and when i saw it on the menu, i asked the waiter , he highly recommended it and also gave me a story about the chef and his recipe for the fried chicken.
I must say it was delicious and would order it again.
Shaw's is always a reliable choice for seafood. Their supplies are flown in daily so the seafood is very fresh. The menu is varied enough to satisfy anyone. My only issue, if there is one, would be that the restaurant is rather pricey. Otherwise we would go to Shaw's more often.
It was a wonderful experience! Our host gave us a perfect spot to accommodate wheelchair accessibility needs for our son. Our server Angel, helpers Adriana and Raul provided exceptional service. My husband ordered king crab legs, a little spendy ($76) but was worth every bite! Our appetizer was grilled calamari- first time we’ve tried it prepared that way (other than fried), it was fantastic! After our meal, Angel gave us a complimentary piece of decadent chocolate cake! Overall, it was a great dinner.
One of my guests had to return her salmon twice. She ordered it medium well and it was almost raw. Still under cooked when it came back. I wish they would give you something on the plate other than a small pile of arguala. When you are paying $35-$45 per entree, I think a few pieces of asparagus or something should be included.
Wonderful sushi, shrimp cocktail, and oysters.
Also the Captain's dinner and lobster mac and cheese were great!
It was extra special when one of the managers brought over 3 yummy bites of lobster crisps!
My daughter loved it and so did my husband, we will definitely be back!
