Shaw's Crab House - Schaumburg Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter was excellent. However, the food for the Sunday brunch needed to be replenished more frequently. Many serving pans were often left empty or with just a scrap or two of food. I noticed this especially with the haddock and also the bacon. It would also be nice to have scrambled eggs on the buffet. I made a reservation through OpenTable and was called by Shaw's the day before the brunch to confirm. I called back to confirm, gave my name and the reason for my call and was met with dead silence. I felt like I was bothering the person who answered the phone. They had called me and inconvenienced me by making me call them back and then I'm treated like a bother. Fianlly I said "are you there?". She said she couldn't find my reservation. Ugh. You just called me! Then she finally found it. The day we arrived for the brunch, I was met with the same problem, she couldn't find the reservation. Very annoying. Overall, food is good and the wait staff is excellent.
The best feature was the food. Fresh, flavorful, expertly prepared. Everything went downhill from there. The dining area was stiflingly hot. I wished I could have stripped to my tee shirt. Next, we were seated in a cafeteria style half- booth with adjoining patrons literally inches away. If I’m paying $16 for one small crab cake (delicious!) I’d like to have a nicer dining atmosphere instead of being crammed into the dining room like sardines. The server took at least 10 minutes to greet us. His opening remark was, “I see you have just been seated”. He was a decent guy, but he definitely suffered from tunnel vision. There was no getting his attention until he was ready to stop by. When water glasses were filled, typically ice cubes went flying across the table. Soup was sent that wasn’t ordered and added to the tab. Nothing catastrophic, but not what I expect when spending $300 for a dinner for 4. I like fine dining and don’t mind paying for it. This was far from fine dining. I will be hard pressed to return, even though the seafood was excellent.
We arrived early enough to take advantage of the 1/2 price oysters which were delicious. The house wine was tasty.
Our booth table was great other than it was close to the door and quite chilly and a bit busy. The food and service were excellent. It won’t be inexpensive but it’s fresh.
The heat was unbearable and everyone was complaining about it. They also had a spotlight on me that kept going in and out and I became the focus of the meal. It was really annoying that it kept going on and out. Food and service was great but for what we paid I expect more
Great service- from the reservation desk, bartender, manager, bus boy and wait staff- every single person was friendly, professional and aimed to serve. Fantastic food and drinks made for an exceptional dinner. Great lively atmosphere perfect for date night special occasions. On the $$$ side but worth every cent. Make a reservation
Server interrupted to much that we didn’t enjoy our dinner.
She talked too much about non food focus
Shaws Need to enhance customer training
1. Customer Space
2. Keep personal comments to zero
3. Stopping by customer table to a minimim aftercare taking orders . It is quite disruptive when all customer wants to do is have a quiet, peaceful dinner and not entertain a Server.
4. Servers who try to hard to please customers is not genuine.
They serve my appetizer and main dish (which was crab legs )in a same time .
I didn’t have time to finish my drink .
Food taste like I was low cost buffet and for money I paid my dinner was not even close to I can recommend anybody. They almost rush me outside. And in the end not even to ask me how was it .
Not that I wonna be rude but it was not dinner for that price range .
By saying this I have great experience on there other locations.
Excellent staff, food choices & ambiance! My wife & I had Salmon with a side of Brussel sprouts with bacon that was delectable, also had cod fish & chips meal which was very good. A nice, warm atmosphere where you can carry on a private conversation with out talking loud. Very relaxing.
First time visit...we will definitely be coming back 👍😃 !
We were at the 1:30 New Year’s Day Pajama Brunch dressed in PJ’s. I felt like we were “scrapping the bottom” for some food items. I had to ask for more biscuits for biscuits and gravy. The breaded shrimp ran out. It was rather disappointing. I also had to ask for the gift card. The lobster bisque soup was average. I’m not sure if it was because it had been sitting there all morning. I was surprised there weren’t any crab options. The oysters looked like they had been sitting out and appeared to be “soupy”. Even though we choose to skip them, my friend did not feel well after brunch. Our server was efficient and polite!
The food was excellent however the sides are a bit over priced. Our waitress was very good, however the hostess staff were rude to my mother and made a disabled woman walk all the way around the restaurant to get to a table that could have been reached in an easier way. I am sad this location is closing, however, after this last experience we won't be back any time soon.
For our romantic date night, we were seated at a booth with a slanted sticky table. The party next to us at the Oyster Bar was extremely loud and rude. The food was everything and the only reason we gave such a high review. The lobster and oysters alone will bring us back every time. So delicious. The service was not outstanding, but polite. We had to ask for a refill on drinks three times. Overall we made our time there a good one. But did we get the quality of service comparable to the excellence level of food? Absolutely not.
I understand why you took the crab legs off the Sunday brunch. I'm happy to pay for them separately. But $39 got me and my husband one crab leg, and the serving portion on the menu says "serves 1 -2". Splitting a crab leg was weird. At least serve two legs and adjust the price if you need to.
Reservations were very easy to make as well as respected in a very timely manner. The service from our waiter was excellent service. The dinner was flawless, which I can say I came away very "full & satisfied". The steak was very tender and cooked beyond perfection, I believed possibly aged. King crab, shrimp as well as our appetizers, the sushi were beautifully set on a tray, as well as being the best I've had in awhile. This place is known for the price tag for dinner and I spent over $200.00, but I can say it was worth the special evening. Will go back again
We have been going to Shaw's for Christmas Eve for many years, and we are never disappointed. Two of us had lobster, one had the crab legs - all of the food was great, the ambience festive for the holidays, and our server, Jimmy, was wonderful. He has been there for a long time, and we're always happy when we have him take care of us. This is always our special occasion place - for the holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc., and we will certainly be back!
The buffet had a nice variety. From the Deep Fried Shrimp to the Lobster Bisque to the Creme Brulee every item was tasty. I wish that they would have had Crab Legs and Beef Tenderloin like they use to without having to pay an additional fee. Still though, the food was great and the service was excellent.
The overall experience was not up to par with many fine dining establishments I frequent. The king crab legs are as good as advertised but the Mahi Mahi was very dry and my wife’s steak was nothing exceptional. My wife ordered a Mojito and it was very weak. She informed the server and he suggested she order a double for the next round vs offer a replacement. I would recommend sticking with the house specialties. The restaurant was packed and loud but we still had decent service. The price for 2 with appetizers, 2 cocktails each, meals, and tip was $300. Overall disappointing based on the quality of food and cocktails.
