Shaw's Crab House - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
I thought that I had made a mistake walking to the restaurant... the location is not very pretty, but after stepping in the front door, I was delighted! The restaurant is divided into two parts. There is a lively and charming oyster bar on one side and a more elegant restaurant on the other. The menu is vast and the food absolutely fabulous. Service impeccable. Without a doubt the best meal we had in Chicago.
Sunday brunch is a splurge at $59pp, but well worth it. Steamed crab legs, lobster bisque, and various shrimp dishes were out of this world. Great salads. Maki rolls were okay. Breakfast selections were great. Desserts were delicious. Perfect for a special occasion. Go back to the buffet as often as you like...coffee, juice, and other n/a drinks are included. Bloody Mary was very good ($10). Excellent service from our server.
My wife and I were in Chicago for Parents' Weekend at our son's college. We treated him and three of his friends to Sunday brunch here. Sensory overload. The buffet is extravagant and delicious. Start with the seafood buffet in the Oyster Bar, but limit your portion sizes so you can enjoy as much of other decadence as possible. Love the Do-Rite Doughnuts! Our server, Kathleen, was friendly and attentive. We all had a great experience.
Shaw’s is our go-to place whenever visiting Chicago. The seafood menu is incredible. I love stone crab claws and can get them in the Midwest in November. I also had the haddock which was very well prepared. My husband had a seafood medley that he enjoys every time we are here.
I love Shaw's and have been many times before but my experience this time was just ok. Our table was way in the back corner and it felt like our table was in trouble LOL, we had to send one of our steaks back because it wasn't cooked right, and the waiter was ok. I hope my next visit is much better than my last visit.
Outstanding food and service on a Saturday night with several great friends. Everyones dinner was Great from the salads to seafood to sushi, plus a special request from one of our guests to prepare something not on the menu. The waitress was Great the entire time. Everyone was extremely satisfied. Cant wait to return with our friends
This is the second time I have had a business dinner here and the second time somebody in the group ended up not feeling well that night/next day. we had one bad oyster we noticed (smelled) and when we told the waitress she said they "normally catch those". The seafood was OK, but not as good as expected for a crab house. Based on the last two experiences, we will not be booking anymore meals here.
The food and service never disappoint. Our server, Jeanne was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She didn't pressure or rush us but also didn't neglect our table. We had raw oysters, buffalo shrimp and stone crab claws. All were delicious. For my entree, I had the Nantucket scallops. They were absolutely amazing, perfectly cooked and sweet. My husband enjoyed his sauteed perch and we shared the cauliflower side. Shaw's is definitely one of our "go to" restaurants when we come to Chicago.
We always visit Shaw’s when in Chicago. It provides a great fish menu in a happy environment. Our server told me about a poké available in bar area. I had asked about ceviche. He had the poké appear for my entree. Perfect. All 6 loved their dishes and shared bites for others to be envious of their selection. The atmosphere of Resturant is relaxed, a little noisey, and lots of pleased diners enjoying themselves. Thank you, Shaw’s for another great meal with friends
Awesome experience from the time we got there to our leaving. The food and service exceeded our imagination. While Brunch is a buffet do not think that the service is less than incredible. We could not have asked for more. The food is excellent. We concentrated on the sea food but I am sure that the other offerings were as good.
We go to Shaws for special occasions and it has always been a treat. On this occasion the birthdays of my wife and niece which I made note of in the reservation and reiterated upon arrival
We were greeted promptly at the table and wished happy birthdays and ordered cocktails.
Another young man came by and asked whether we had ordered cocktails which we had and that was the last time that I recall that either them came to the table without being summoned. Three separate occasions we had to ask to have the table cleared on one occasion my wife had to stand up and actually call over
to the server
I'm not sure what your policy is the last birthday I celebrated there, a server was thoughtful enough to bring over a sweet with a candle, this time nothing other than the check
