Shaw's Crab House - Chicago
Book your next event with us
The only issue we had was going to get our food and coming back to find that they cleared our table.
Fantastic food, drinks, and service! Will be back.
Great atmosphere. If you love seafood go to the Saturday/Sunday brunch. We ate and ate crab legs till they came out of our ears! Very fancy, especially for our anniversary celebration. Will recommend this place a million times over and our server (Eric) told us at the start, “it’s a marathon not a sprint, so enjoy everything.”
Carlos, stage bartender, was awesome and the food superb
Excellent service as always, and the food is consistently great.
The augratin potatoes, lobster bisque and grilled shrimp were good. The scallops were just ok and the crab cake had little taste. The potatoes were hot, but the scallops, crab cake and shrimp were room temperature.
It used to be really good. So what's happened to Shaw's? Sadly, it's gone the way of all-things-touristy. Which is to say, the emphasis is on filling up the place, charging ridiculously high prices for mediocre food and hoping most diners won't know the difference. It wasn't always like this. We went to Shaw's for years: for lunch, for special occasions. So on this special occasion, we eagerly returned. The minute I was handed a pager to let me know when our reserved table was ready, I knew it was the beginning of the end. Pagers happen at theme restaurants and tourist destinations, not high-end dining establishments, and Shaw's has clearly descended into the category of Expensive Theme Restaurant. When the red lights flashed and the vibrator vibrated, we were led to a cozy table in a nicely-appointed room, which is the best thing I can write about the rest of the evening. The acclaimed Copper River Salmon, a $44 entree, was salty and buttery and barely recognizable as the excellent grilled filet the server promised it would be. My partner's fish was so salty, she had to send it back, which meant she was served well after the rest of us had finished. To be fair, the server was very good, very apologetic, and very attentive. And we appreciated the complimentary two birthday desserts--which, along with the rolls, were the best parts of the $300-for-four meal. And I guess that's the point: for more than $70 per person, the meal should be outstanding--and there are many, many other 'real' places we can, and will, go to celebrate next time. As for Shaw's, there's no need for them to change a thing, because they seem to fill the place every night. Which goes to show that people will pay a high price for mediocrity.
Good food, cool atmosphere and great service. A must restaurant while in Chicago
Wonderful food and service. One of our favorite places to visit when we are in Chicago.
Great service. Best food!
Great food and great service. Our server was great. Do not remember his name but his employee number on our receipt is 328. We go every time we are in Chicago and it never disappoints.
Save the for a great special occasion. Have the Brussels Sprouts. I know that sounds weird, but trust me. Delicious!!!
Enjoyed by all! The Whole Snapper and Sashimi appatzer was fabulous
I’m not a foodie, I’m a food connoisseur. What I enjoy most is going to someplace that has some flavor combination or dish presentation that I’ve never experienced before. Shaw’s was not that. Everything I had I felt like I had before. The difference: it was the best, the freshest, the best experience and the most amazing flavor of all the rest. If I can give you, the reader, one recommendation in life, it is to go to Shaw’s and create your own memory. You will not regret it.
Food was tremendous........ Atmosphere was great. Love Shaws
Wonderful anniversary dinner at Shaw’s.
Brunch was spectacular as usual!
We’ve been to the Schaumburg location a few times and this location just wasn’t as good. Food was ok, bacon didn’t seem right. Schaumburg location has better tasting bacon. Shrimp were ok but had an off flavor on some and shells were still on quite a few. Service was very slow. We would have liked to order more drinks but our waitress rarely came by and the table was not cleared frequently. Disappointed by this location, sticking with the Schaumburg location from now on.
Great jobe, all the best parts are back, and hopefully to stay. ( that wonderful Chesapeake fried chicken, and those luscious king crab legs.) Now it's worth the money!
Service was great, food OK but I wonder why there’s a 30 minute wait to be seated when I DO have a dinner reservation. Bad management!
very displeased with the $36 soft shell crab dish I ordered. 2 little crabs came out that probably had 2 bites of crab in it.
I have been to this establishment many times over the years and it is consistently wonderful...Everything you expect from a fine dining experience. Would recommend it highly.
This was our second time coming to Shaw's. Since my husband and I went there on one of our first dates , we decided to celebrate our year 1 wedding anniversary. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is perfect for a date night to celebrate. Service was great also.
The lunch menu is just meh. The lobster roll was OK, scallops were well done and tasty but boring because its the same year after year. The king crab leg is simple, delicious, and timeless. The only reason we make the trip every year.
Shaw’s hits all the high notes - great food, wine, ambiance and service! From Emma the hostess to Amy the server to Audi the floor manager and Kevin the manager - all treated us extremely well. Definitely try the soft shell crabs .
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Shaw’s tonight.
Had the double lobster tails. It’s lobster month at Shaw’s. Broiled. Cooked correctly and very fresh and good.
My third visit to Shaw’s and our meal & experience were both fabulous! The halibut w scalloped potatoes were both amazing coupled w the best brussel sprouts ever. Superb service and round table we requested msde for a great evening
Not our best experience at Shaw’s. We were seated right away but it took a long time before our server showed up and he seemed not very friendly. If he would have just acknowledged us and said I’ll be right with you that would have helped a little. Most of our servers have been great and had some personality. Our food was done well but the lack of attention at the start set the tone for the meal. We had to ask for the bread basket to be replaced as it was not complete when it was put on the table. I think that we will take a break from Shaw’s for a while.
Consistently very, very good. Great menu, service, atmosphere etc. Has become a standby for our family.
Food is always wonderful, oysters were small but very tasty. Service could have been (and has been in the past) much better, but it was a busy evening. One of my favorite places in Chicago!
Au Gratin potatoes were all cheese and except for that no flavor. My Lake Erie had many bones and just okay, however the Cole Slaw was excellent. Crab Cake was okay. If I may compare your perch with RL's, theirs is exceptional.
An outstanding dining experience. Absolutely fabulous server who was a big Cubs fan and expert on food and beverage recommendations. This was a business dinner and the entire experience, atmosphere, food, and drinks resulted in a very successful event. Of special note, the halibut steak and soft shell crabs were exceptional. Also enjoyed some unique cocktails.
Location carina, camerieri gentili e disponibili. Cibo molto buono
The waitress was great!! Very on top
Of everything. The combination platter wasn’t worth the money and part of it was burnt. The gumbo was missing some zest. The lobster fettuccini was delicious. The sea scallops were melt in your mouth. The lobster tails were a little small. The signature drinks need a update
A Chicago tradiitoon
Excellent food and service
I have been coming to Shaw's for 28 years and never had a bad meal until last Monday when I took my girlfriend of 27 years there for her birthday. We ordered the cold seafood appetizer combination, as we always do, and the shrimp was tough, the king crab pieces were tiny, the lobster tail was small, and the oysters were tasteless. I was very disappointed.
We went to Shaw's on the recommendation of a colleague. We were a bit surprised at the 2 different dining areas. The one we chose had the retro diner look which we chose over the more standard chop house style dining room. There was a band playing blues/rockabilly music. We enjoyed them very much. We sat in a booth opposite the band, but it was still quite loud, but bot so much that it was a nuisance. Our water and his buss boy were on point the entire evening. He have us time, but was there when we needed him. We went with the gold and cold appetizer combo. They were a nice little taste of what the dinners had to offer. Our dinners (filet with seafood and seafood combo) were plentiful and very tasty. We had no complaints whatsoever. For dessert we chose the sampler, because we just couldn't decide on just 1 or 2. We also added a scoop of the homemade/housemade vanilla ice cream. It was a dinner we will remember for quite some time. The only downside was the air conditioning which was intermittent and blew directly on us when it kicked on....what can you do? Not enough to ruin a good meal. though.
