Food and service where top notch, definitely will be back on my next trip to Chicago!
Excellent service and outstanding quality of food. Would definitely recommend and go back.
Great food was late to reservation still sat quickly food came out fast and was great!
The food was delicious, but the service was even better! Anthony was so kind and took the time to get to know each of us (there were five of us) and they made my 30th super special! The restaurant is so cute and was such a great place to visit during our trip to Chicago! If I am ever here again, I will visit again!
We requested a booth in the bar and that request was honored and we thank you for that. We were celebrating a special occasion and that seating area brought back good memories.
Jean was our server and was so accommodating and nice. Great server!
Between 2 sets of crab legs, filets, lobster and several sides -- it was all so fresh, filling, and delicious.
Thank you for a great experience!
The food was as good as the service, which was fantastic!
A trip to Shaw’s for their weekend brunch is, by far, my favorite thing about every visit to Chicago (we’re there 3-4 times a year).
I’ve probably been a dozen times or so, and have never been disappointed with even the slightest detail.
The staff are ideal - warm, friendly, professional yet approachable. The waiters all seem to have worked there for eons, and are true pros of their craft, the likes of which are rarely found today even at fine establishments. I have never felt overly bothered by their wait staff, yet at the precise moment you’re about to need something they seem to have a sixth sense about it. Drinks never fall below 1/2 full, and the bussing staff are equally attentive to your experience.
The weekend brunch buffet is the most amazing meal, with attention paid to every detail. Carved beef tenderloin, giant steamed crab legs, oysters on the half shell, and plethora of other seafood. The crab cakes have got to be 95% crab meet, with just enough bread it to hold them together.
Even the “basic” items are the best. Thick cut maple drizzled bacon that I haven’t tasted since my grandma was alive, fluffy mini waffles made on demand, and the best omelette station around.
Excellent Bloody Mary. Multiple mimosa variations.
Ambiance is like going back in time to the 50’s. Nice main dining room or more casual oyster bar on the other side.
Valet is $15
Brunch Buffet is about $65pp
Get a reservation and you’ll be in the main dining room.
I’ve shown up without a reservation a couple times and never had a challenge getting a table, but will be in the oyster bar if they’re booked up. No biggie.
Shaw’s is, most definitely, the best brunch buffet I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot). You will not be disappointed.
Really great seafood place. Will try in again anytime am back in Chicago.
Poor service. 45 mins until we received apps. 3/10 rating on wedge. Server never offered specials. Seemed uninterested. Never made to feel inviting.
Best sea scallops I’ve ever eaten. They were cooked perfectly.
Great attention to detail by all the staff. Sautéed soft shell crab was tasty. Whole crisp Red Snapper had just the right amount of heat!
Soup and entree were over salted. Fish was over cooked.
Great food as always. Had 3 generations of family in my party and all loved it!
Awesome fresh fish and sushi! Great atmosphere and service!
Food was great as always. It was pretty busy but everything came in a timely manner and was very fresh!
Always enjoy Shaw’s and their deep menu, ambiance and quality experience. Our group consumed shrimp, scallops, lobster, crab and steaks and it was all delicious. I would rate everything at Shaw’s EXCELLENT except the price. Majority of bottles of wine were >$100 and the steak/lobster combo was $90. Very easy to speak >$500 fir a dinner
The music is LOUD and not suited for any meeting. People were almost shouting at each other!
Best crab cake !
Portions are huge. Consider sharing side items. Food, atmosphere, service... all outstanding!
The waitress was fantastic. She checked in when appropriate and did not rush us. It was a Monday night so the place was not packed and we took our time and really relaxed and enjoyed the food and the restaurant. The specials were great choices. Had never had halibut; prepared simply and was delicious. Fun night.
Met with family who were in town for an amazing meal. Lauren took such great care of us and was so attentive to every detail. The Parmesan crusted haddock was awesome. Shaws is one of our favs and never disappoints.
Excellent seafood choices. We started with oysters on the half shell. The selection included East coast and West coast and all had distinctive levels of salinity, plumpness, and sweetness. We're not big eaters, so we split the wedge salad with blue cheese. It was served chilled and wasn't over dressed. For the entree, we split the king crab legs with a side of creamed spinach. Served warm, the crab was succulent and flavorful. We finished with the Homer's peppermint ice cream, a local ice cream parlor.
We were celebrating a wedding anniversary and were treated to a complimentary glass of champagne. The service was friendly and impeccable with the waitstaff checking on us without being intrusive.
Loved the music. The giant alaskan king crab legs were delicious
Excellent service. Thanks Cory!
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and our first trip to Chicago! We could not have asked for a greater time! Our server was amazing and made great recommendations for us! He paired the wine perfectly and made our experience wonderful! The food was delicious and the seafood fresh! We loved the PEI oysters. We will definitely be back.
Great parmesan crusted haddock. Always a consistent and delicious dinner. Been coming here for 15 years
This is my third time eating at Shaw’s and each time it doesn’t disappoint , Food is excellent and I discovered the buffet on this trip . Best bargain around compared to any restaurant.
I was celebrating my birthday with friends. Party of 11. Food was great and service was outstanding. Ill be back
Great food. There are several options to choose from. Our waiter was really attentive and provided great service. The only downfall to the brunch would be the price. The price is a bit high.
Soup was very delicious. We went on a Saturday at 7:15pm, had reservations, had to wait to be seated. The service was so slow, we were at the restaurant for a very long time. It was not worth the wait....
Excellent atmosphere, food, and wine. Prices reasonable for Chicago. Table ready within a few minutes of reservation. Staff very attentive and friendly
Service took 2.5 hours for our party of 5, and we only ordered one entree. Starters were underwhelming, specifically the stone crab claw. Expect one bite. Told server about being there for my wife's birthday and was told they'd do something special, but nothing happened, no acknowledgement. We were expecting great service and food due to most of the reviews being positive, so were very let down. Gibson's from here on out!
The food and service were excellent. They ensure that the food you want, or ordering is with your approval. They explain the menu in detail and ask what you are looking for , so they can meet your expectation. The quality of food is excellent, and I have not had anything that I have asked for not cooked to my desire or the quality of food was of the highest quality. I would recommend that you just give them a try and you will see that they are of the quality you seek, both with food and customer service.
I received fast service but the table next to mine did not. Since we had become fast friends, it did take away from the experience. To their credit, the Manager did come out, apologise and ensured her customers left happy so that was great. The food was sumptious. I had the red snapper which I highly recommend. They also have lots of great dessert - try the peppermint ice cream. I would definitely go back.
just an old school place that has been around because they do a good job - we enjoyed the food and the service - a little pricey compared to other higher end places but the place to go in River North for seafood in a great atmosphere
Ate at the bar. Carlos was amazingly friendly and helpful.
The seafood was delicious and fresh. We had the cold appetizer for two, scallops, hash browns, brussel sprouts, filet and lobster, creme brulee and raspberry pie. The oysters, lobster and sprouts were the stars but everything was outstanding. Our server was attentive but not overbearing, and asked if we'd like her to go over the menu as opposed to doing it automatically.
beautiful tasty cocktails, the sashimi appy was divine, the whole snapper for a main was quite big and could easily be shared
unfortunately our evening was dashed by our utterly rude server, we had to ask to be moved. Quite disappointing.
Great food, great service. We will be back
