Shaw's Crab House - Chicago

My favorite restaurant to visit when vacationing to see my daughter here in Chicago. We always make our reservations for the brunch buffet when I’m in town. The best!!!

Shaw's Crab House was more than what I expected it to be! My wife and I were meeting some old friends and they had been there before so we wanted to try it. We come down to Chicago for a night or two around the holidays every year to shop and try new restaurants. Shaw's will definitely be a place where we will return. Thank you for making our trip spectacular!

AMAZING anniversary dinner. It was busy, but I can see why. Everything was wonderful, service was incredible! Especially with it being so busy. This is my husband's favorite place to eat in Chicago. As a first timer, it was great!

We were appalled by the small portions and huge prices. A $26 appetizer yielded one shrimp, two very small oysters, two crazy small little broken pieces of crab and one dwarf lobster tail about the size of a large shrimp. Food was outstanding but the reservation process could be a little better. We had a reservation for 2 people at 730pm and weren’t seated until almost 8pm and didn’t get our appetizers until about 830pm. I heard a manager say 15-20 mins past reservation is about normal...if that’s “normal” Shaw’s should do a better job of setting expectations and prepping customers. If I knew I was going to wait almost 30 minutes even with reservations- I’d have made my reservations earlier or just gone somewhere else.

Once seated the meal was great and definitely worth it but when walk ins are seated in about 45 minutes and you make people with reservations wait 25- it doesn’t make a lot of sense.

I have been to Shaw's on other occasions but this visit was a disappointment. We had reservations for 730 and we were not seated until 8. Many many people who arrived after us were seated first. We inquired about the wait and were just told it was busy. The food was good, but not hot. The mashed potatoes had a big blob of cold butter in them, potatoes not hot enough to melt the butter. We were not offered a second cocktail, we waited for the first cocktail 15 minutes after being seated. It was my friend's birthday. We were asked if we wanted dessert and we said no as we had waited so long for the check. Then they brought a piece of chocolate cake. Very nice but again, very long after we had finished our meal, no offer of a second cocktail and my friend does not like chocolate. It was very busy. I was disappointed as I had really built up the experience to my friend. Even though I had made a reservation 2 weeks prior, we had a very small table inbetween a group of very loud celebrating ladies and another couple. Again, nothing wrong with the table, just not very special. I would maybe go back but just sit on the oyster bar side.

ah-mazing. food was so so good. service was exceptional. the ambiance and feel are perfect. we reserved a table on here and were seated without a wait. an empty wine glass fell over at the table next to us and fell on my bag- no ones fault, but the floor manager came over immediately to apologize and was so so nice! he even knew about the best restaurant in our home town and said how much he loved it there (the pine club in dayton ohio if you are wondering!) and just to reiterate- the food... mmmm! ::chefs kiss:: SO SO GOOD.

These king crab anywhere!!

The king crab was fabulous.

Requested our special booth but was asked to sit at another booth. We watched the couple tip the maitre d when they were seated.

The table behind us had 4 very loud and not well behaved children not very relaxing for a nice dinner out.

Celebrating my best friend birthday with two other friends and we had an reservation and when we arrived we escorted to our table immediately no wait which I love. The food was great , however our server brought us the wrong drink twice. Other than that it was very nice.

Husband bday dessert was great

Shaw's Crab House came highly recommended - and it is no surprise. Everything from the environment to the succulent food is absolutely fantastic!

Our meals were cold. We were promised to get new meals, however, the old ones were served again, and again cold. In the third run we finally got moderatedly warm meals. The Service was great and we got one bottle of an excellent red wineas compensation. Great! Meinrad

Don't miss this brunch. By far best brunch in Chicago.

The food here is amazing. We got the Spicy shrimp, salmon, & lemon sushi as suggested by our waiter. I was skeptical of the flavor combination with the lemon, but it was fantastic! I would get it again in a heartbeat. The lobster, scallops, shrimp, and crab cakes were all very tasty as well. If we go visit Chicago again in the future, I would definitely plan to go back to Shaw’s.

Terrific time once again at Shaw’s. Exceptional service and food keeps me coming back every time I’m in Chicago. A must see.

In town for the holiday, had a fantastic time at Shaw’s! Great drinks and service at the bar. Lovely dinner and very good service in the dining room. We hit Shaw’s almost every trip to Chicago.

Always great! Delicious, fresh, carefully prepared food and excellent service. I've been coming here since 1986 and still wonderful.
