It was just okay. We usually love to go to Shaw’s, but the most recent visit was disappointing. The seafood was good, but the side dishes were not. The hash browns had some kind of sautéed onions under the potatoes that tasted processed and the Brussels sprouts had a strange tasting spice mix on them.
Wonderful time and excellent food, great service. I have only great things to say. I have high standards and they were absolutely met or exceeded.
We have always eaten in the Oyster Bar and loved every occasion. We decided on the main dining room for my wife’s birthday and it too was a wonderful experience. White tablecloth, fantastic service, and delicious seafood . Soup - New England clam chowder, salad - chopped, and entree’s- steamed Alaskan King Crab legs and yellow lake perch were superb. Shaw’s does it right!
I having been looking for a seafood restaurant in Chicago for awhile now and friends suggested I try Shaw's. The crab cake was excellent however the gumbo , king crab and scallops were just ordinary. The wait staff was excellent but I think overall the price was a tad bit too high.
OMG! The hamachi sashimi was to die for! Clam chowder - delish! Old Chicago ambience.
Awesome ambiance l, and beyond excellent staff. Great experience overall!
One of our special occasion spots, this time for two birthdays and an anniversary. Everything was excellent as always, and we received two full desserts on the house for the birthdays. Highly recommended!
Superb food, as usual. Top notch clam chowder, great crab cakes and tuna, excellent au gratin potatoes, concluding with wonderful chocolate cake
Epic service and Sunday brunch was excellent!
I made a reservation a month in advance and when we arrived the place was half full but they sat all 8 of us in a booth on 1 side in the back of the restaurant. Never gave us a choice. The food was still very good.
Never disappointed in the food, atmosphere or service. Staff is always very professional.
Incredible overall experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
I have to say, I think Shaw's Crab House has the best Seafood in Chicago. The seafood and shellfish is so fresh, you'd think we were seaside. The extensive list of menu items highlight the fish and does not smother it with overwhelming sauces or stuffings. The preparation is perfect - never over or under cooked.
I hadn't dined at Shaws in a while, but we decided to dine there with our family, for a seafood lover's birthday celebration. It was well worth the trip from the suburbs. Shaw's Restaurant still has it's nostalgic "supper club" charm, the hosts and servers are attentive and accommodating. We were able to dine and visit at our leisure. The menu is extensive and our waiter was friendly and very helpful with describing the entrees and specials, making for a a wonderful dining experience.
I had a wonderful time! All the food was hot and delicious, definitely will be back soon! I also left my AirPods on the table and called the next day and they said someone give them to management. I thought that was honest I truly appreciate them for that!
We attended the Sunday Brunch before attending the last performance of Hamilton in Chicago. The Brunch was amazing as always and the service was wonderful as with every visit.
The food and selections are always wonderful. Great server (Tilney) and the young man assisting her (apologies i don't remember his name).
Went for Sunday brunch and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh oysters, shrimp, and crab legs. Service was attentive and food was replenished regularly. We were dining with our one year old and I highly recommend going early if you are toting kids - the place was filling up as we left around noon and I could see it being significantly more difficulty to navigate with the crowd.
Excellent service, high quality ingredients expertly prepared, classy upscale restaurant. Pretty pricey but worth the experience.
We went for brunch with the family to celebrate my birthday. We all loved it. Be prepared to eat a lot of food. Food is delicious, huge variety. Definitely would recommend for special occasions and big appetites.
It is a great place to meet and enjoy a wonderful food spread. Of course if you come with good company you are sure to have a good time.
Always enjoy the seafood it is the in Chicago.
In two words: Never disappoints. We treat ourselves to the buffet a couple of times a year. On this special occasion, the person being treated had never visited Shaw's. After getting the "lay of the land" view, she could not believe the variety. Then, after trying the food, she said it was great. The rest of our party was in no surprise as everything is fresh and appealing to the eye. Even the person in our group who doesn't eat any seafood walks out full and happy every time. I would totally recommend this place to others...especially the brunch, as there is something for everyone. And...leave a tiny bit of room for the bite size dessert bar.
