Our food was burned....service was fair. They wanted to seat us in a dark room with your back to the bar area. Ambience was fair. It was my birthday and I couldn't eat the food it was so bad. I don't plan on ever returning.
Had reservations for 700. Arrived at 650 and was told there would be 45 minute wait for a table with reservations then an additional 45 minutes for food. Was told only 3 people in kitchen. People walking out who dined told us to run. We were seated 30 minutes later then waited for another 10 for a server to get drinks. We left. Never again!
When we arrived there were people leaving who had been there an hour and had not seen a waitress. They had been seated but not been served. We went on in and were told that they were short handed and were backed up in the kitchen and it would be an additional hour before we were served. We left. Understand it being Mother’s Day weekend and things happen but we were not going to wait that long
had reservations at 6:30 waited to be seated for 36 minutes they were not slammed seamed like they were struggling with what to do, finely got seated waitress was nice and friendly she took our drink order and we ordered an appetizer it was good they were out of some main items on the menu so we ordered pork chops we waited around 25 minutes for the meal to arrive,i cut my wife's pork chop for her it was dark brown inside mine was some what white we did not eat the meal.
also while waiting on our meal a table of 8 got up and walked out there were people waiting to be seated for over a half an hour.
We received very poor service and we waited a very long time to get our food. The other couple in our group didn’t get one of their orders until everyone else had completed their meal. We were all very disappointed
Our server was new, but worked hard to get our questions answered! Soup was delicious even if not piping hot. Chicken salad was yummy!
Meatloaf was delicious, as well as the cheeseburger. Great menu options and great service. Will definitely go again.
We waited over an hour for our food. Servers kept saying our food was almost done but it never came out. By the time we were already late to be somewhere else they finally brought our food out. The restaurant was pretty much empty also and my whole group ordered burgers.
My party was eating at shandies for prom. It took over an hour to get our food. That is outrageous because we had a reservation and the restaurant was not full at all. This delay made us late for prom. If you have somewhere you need to be after eating at Shandies DO NOT GO!
Fabulous meal!! Food was great. Good service.
We’ve eaten at Shandie’s for many years during quilt week. It seems like quality of food is down from past years. We took a cream cheese egg roll as carry out. None of us tasted cream cheese and the wrapper was so tough a plastic knife barely cut through.
Only one of the four of us were satisfied with our mixed drinks. In addition to eating, we stopped a couple different days before our dinner reservations at different restaurants. It took a long time to get drinks at our meal as they were just mixing a sweet/sour mix to use in the drinks.
We are thinking of taking Shandie’s off our reservation list for spring 2020. So sorry as we’ve had good experience in the past.
We visit Shandies every time we are in Paducah. The food is very good and the service good. This last time however, the service was very poor. We were seated at our table 20 minutes before a server asked for our drink order. After food was ordered it came quickly and was warm and very well prepared. Server didn't bring water until we were half-way through the meal.
Had a wonderful "Southern" meal on the patio. Amberlee was out server, and she just could not have been more attentive. The food was amazing and just what I wanted while traveling. Would definitely return again!
We visited during the busy AQS Quilt Week so it was great to be able to get away from the crowds at the convention center and have a nice relaxing delicious lunch with great food and service.
The food at this restaurant is always excellent. The service is also top notch. My wife had the tomato basil soup and I had the onion soup, both delicious! We both chose the same entree, and were not disappointed. The bourbon steak sandwich was a perfect combination of flavors, the meat was tender and juicy. We are already looking forward to our next visit ...
I generally don't write reviews because (a) even bad experiences are rarely worth taking the time to write about and (b) I believe 99.9% of establishments only pay lip-service to wanting to know the truth. However, our dinner at Shandie's on Saturday, April 6th, 2019 was so thoroughly miserable that I am compelled to write.
Food: The food was poor at best. My ribeye was 80% gristle and essentially non-edible, my fiance's "beef medallions" literally had only 3 SMALL pieces of meat (we counted) and 9 mushrooms, my friend's shrimp scampi was SWIMMING in oil and the 2 pieces of "bread" brought with it were the size of a large crouton, and the pineapple upside-down "cake" was dry, crumbly, and basically tasteless. Congratulations though, as poor as it was, the food was the highlight of our evening.
Service: Literally the WORST service I have EVER had at a "higher-end" restaurant. At the outset our server said it was her first night. We took that to mean her first night at Shandie's, but I'm convinced it was her first night serving, period. An appetizer of fried bread and spicy feta cheese dip was brought without the dip. When asked about it she seemed confused, and we had to instruct her to go have the dip made. She finally brought it but forgot the plates (apparently she expected us to dip from the same trough, like pigs). My friend requested no tomatoes or cucumbers on his salad -- it had both. He requested no butter on his steak -- it had butter. He ordered a draft beer -- she brought a bottle instead and explained, "I told the bartender you wanted draft, but he gave me a bottle." Please show me a server with 1/10th of a brain who would KNOWINGLY serve a drink incorrectly. She didn't bring knives for our steaks, she repeatedly asked how the check was to be split even though I repeatedly told her it was to be all on one (mine), etc... I could go on but really what's the point?
Bottom line: I will never set foot in your restaurant again. Period.
Our table was ready for us, our waitress was polite and attentive, we loved our table (by the window), our food was delicious, and we had a great time!
We always come here on our way to Florida from Chicago. The food is the best. You can’t beat the meatloaf and catfish. I know there are other great restaurants in Paducah but we always come to Shandies!
The food and service were great. Probably the best pork chop I've ever had.. The duck wontons were delicious too
Food was good a little pricey drinks are way overpriced for the amount. But overall it was a great first time experience
Busy night for the restaurant and we didn’t mind waiting for a table but very disappointed when another couple with same reservation time was sat prior to us and arrived many minutes after us for same party size.
Love this restaurant! Right in heart of adorable downtown of Paducah. Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and waitress/waiters go out of their way to make it an enjoyable experience.
We went to Shandies for brunch after church on Sunday. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere is vintage Paducah. Our server was new and didn't have an understanding of the menu. Then, she forgot to put our order in, so it was about an hour from the time we ordered before we were able to find out where our food was -- still uncooked in the kitchen. The manager was incredibly accommodating and rushed everything out. The food was delicious. We'll be back. Hopefully next time, the service will be faster.
Food was amazing! I highly recommend the Mac and cheese and the shrimp scampini. Great service!
We loved our time here. The waitress was awesome! Food was fabulous! If we are in the area we would love to eat here again.
Server suggests side skew of shrimp never received it then when we get our food I ask him about it he never offered to bring it back. Asked for a steak knife waiter never brought it had to cut my steak with butter knife. Husband creole chicken had no flavor and mashed potatoes tasted like dirt. Very expensive for horrible food and bad service.
Great food, great service! Very friendly staff! Please bring back the salmon....it is delicious!!
I enjoy Shandies. I feel like they are right on the line of either being a upscale restaurant (prices and almost the ambience) or being a mödern pub (food style, beers, and also other end of ambience). If they refined their style and decor a bit, they’d have a golden nugget. Also- staff is lovely with personality but seems scrambled because our first waiter got our order wrong and seemed hurried, but the second waitress was really kind and on top of it! Bar staff is quick too!
Overall, I love shandies.
After 1 1/2 hour wait for our salads and two steaks, we left. Poor service.
Went for dinner on Valentine’s Day. Our waiter Paul was great the special menu was good and the deserts were spot on. I would recommend Shandies. The downtown location is nice in the summer and fall.
This is a longstanding popular restaurant ona great corner in downtown Paducah. The menu is mostly American, well prepared, and dependably tasty. The staff is v friendly and do a good job. We were there for an early lunch and it was quiet on a Thursday. I appreciated that since I have a partial hearing loss in my right ear. However, obviously it would b as noisy as any restaurant when packed at peak hours. Overall, a good choice.
We first went and sat at the bar while our table was getting ready. The bartender was very overwhelmed and told us she would be a bit before she could get to us. She was very nice and did apologize for the wait. When we did get seated at our table our waitress came over and took our drink order and food order. We then proceeded to wait a little over 30 min for our food. That would have been okay, but during our wait we were never asked if we wanted another drink. When our food came another waitress brought it out (nachos and a veggie burger). I waited about another 15 min for the salad I was supposed to have gotten. My husband got up and went to find the waitress which then explained how she got “real sick and hot and had to go outside”.
First- it was 22 degrees outside.
Second- she was gone for 45 min.
She billed us for the entire meal, in which I then had to ask for the salad to take home that she had charged us for but never brought. We also overheard her telling the same story to the table behind us that completely got the wrong food brought to them.
My husband and I don’t get date night often since we have 2 kids at home, so going out was supposed to be a real treat for us. So sad we went here for our once ever 3 months date:(
Always a must stop when traveling through Paducah a few times s year, our dinner was very disappointing. Quality of food now average. Favorite items off the menu. And at 6:30 pm some items not available because the chef hadn’t made them yet or they were still frozen. .
Food took forever to arrive to our table. Much of the food was over cooked/burnt. Everyone got their food at opposite times. Service was not good. Wine ordered was incorrect. Overall poor experience:
It had great view. We ordered our steaks medium and came out rare. All the food on our plates was cold.
We have been to Shandies in the past and had good experiences. This trip however was not good. Service was slow, and a couple of drinks were not what was ordered. When we finally ordered our food, about 15 minutes later our waitress came back and told us that they were out of something that 2 people ordered. We will go back and try again before I can say that I would recommend it to anyone else.
We arrived 15 mins early for our reservation, waited at the hostess stand until 10 minutes after our reservation time being told “we will just be a minute”. We were finally seated, waited another 5 minutes and a hostess brought us some ice water. As we waited, another table seated after us was waited on, brought drinks and their food order was taken. We had tickets for an event later that evening, and after another 20 minutes without being acknowledged, we left and went to our event hungry. All in all it saved us a bundle as we will never go back.
I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was superb. Food was great. I will return.
Was happy to find this place open for Xmas Eve dinner, which happens to be my spouse’s birthday. Unfortunately they were not prepared with supposedly many staff calling in sick. Thus, very slow service and an incorrect order. The food was actually decent, but don’t open if you’re going to have disappointing service.
Food was really good. Wine selection ok. Service was horrible! Server forgot we ordered water then spilled it on us. Kept giving a sob story that she was tired and had kids to deal with. Disappeared for along while when drinks were empty and we were afraid to order another drink afterwards since not sure we would get it.
