Nice , good Indian
The owner made some good suggestions. The food was great!
We, and many of our friends and neighbors, have been eating and enjoying meals at Shalimar for 25 years and it is fabulous, consistent, authentic with great service. A true neighborhood gem. Our kids are now going there with their friends.
Overall the food was well prepared although the spicing was extremely conservative. I ordered medium heat which turned out to be very mild. Service was slow with appetizers and entree delivered at the same time. Still loved the cooking will order more heat next time.
Great food! Wonderful service. This will be a new regular.
I’ve given mid-range scores but that’s because I don’t know either way. I would love to tell you all about the food, etc. but unfortunately when we arrived for our 3pm reservation the restaurant was closed and wouldn’t reopen for dining in until 5pm. Apparently they close their dinning room from 2:30 to 5.
The food is consistently delicious, and the staff always friendly and helpful.
Absolutely delicious; great menu; great service. Reservation acknowledged and on time.
great staff been going here for years, missed when i went to San Diego .. Always go when i come back up to LA ...makes the best ever Lamb karahi !!
We went for Valentines Day and enjoyed their special! Very attentive staff and good food!
This will forever be our favorite Indian Restaurant
Shalimar is my favorite Indian restaurant in the valley. Everything they serve is very delicious.
As usual, we had a delicious dinner. We always love the chicken tikka- tender and very flavorful. We also enjoy a lamb dish that is served sizzling hot in an iron pot. The owner always makes the best recommendation when we can't decide or are looking to try something new. This time we tried a wonderful eggplant dish that I know will now be part of our dinner every time we go. We always order the aloo sag mushroom. We love the garlic and onion naan bread. There seems to be an infinite variety of great vegetable dishes. The service is great- attentive, anticipatory and polite but never overbearing. Shalimar has been a neighborhood staple for many years and is dependable and delicious.
The staff of Shalimar have been consistently friendly, obliging, provide meaningful attention
and the food is excellent
Our favorite Indian food in SFV. Been going there for 16 yrs+. Great foid and wonderful service. Thanks Gents!!!
The food here is exceptional for a great price. Their wine selection is reasonable and actually better than I thought would be available.
First visit and was with a group from overseas. They thoroughly enjoyed the meal and said the food was authentic. One of our party was from India. Everything was delicious. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back
Excellent service and nice ambiance. The food was mediocre.
We love Shalimar. We tried the family dinner for four for the first time. Great value and delicious. So much, we couldn't eat it all.
Great restaurant. Loved the service, the food, the Malai Kofta was the best!
We love this restaurant. The food is delicious and the service is excellent.
If you are not accustomed to spicy Indian dishes, I would suggest getting the dishes made on the mild side. We ordered medium and drank a lot of water! However, we will be back soon. Also, Indian beers are delicious. 😀
Limited choices with vegetarian dishes .... limited choice of naan .... Also Ran out of fish ... But our server was very nice and very helpful in helping us make the choices from what was available.
Great service. Delicious dinners
Not a great experience, not bad either. The food was pretty bland and the service was pretty apathetic.
This is my go to location for excellent Indian food. The menu is quite varied and excellent for vegetarians.
Stumbled upon this place once, and then saw it again in OpenTable and knew that I had to write this review. This is hands down our favorite Indian food restaurant in the Valley. The family that owns it has been here for a long time and keeps it traditional. They also have some Pakistani dishes on the menu and everything is full of flavor and fresh. The wine list isn't too extensive, but the prices for a bottle are VERY good. Eat here if you want to have some awesome Indian food. Great spice and flavor profiles.
Delicious foods from a wide swath of India/Pakistan and who knows where else. Perhaps a touch rich for my taste, but the spicing was first rate! Wonder if they're going old school and cooking with lots of ghee.
Anyway, I'll be back to try more of the unusual dishes.
Wow! Excellent food and service. I had the Lamb Vindaloo and Peshwari Naan. The lamb was cooked to perfection. All of my servers did a great job! I will return when I am back in the area.
I have been here several times. Iti is a good place to have Indian food.
I was surprised to find this neighborhood gem. Shalimar is very small, yet its mirrored wall give the illusion of size. An army of employees give marvelous service, and food is presented elegantly. My wife and I ordered curry dishes, which were delicious and plentiful. The restaurant serves a limited selection of low-end wines. I would suggest bringing your own.
We had a hankering for Shalimar's cuisine, which is always authentic and delicious. It was just the two of us, so two small dishes with some garlic Nan bread was all we needed that need. Simple, but delicious.
The best Indian food in So Ca, in my opinion. Never had a bad meal or service in the 20 plus years I've been going to Shalimar.
Found this local restaurant for Valentine's Day as husband loves Indian food and since new to the area used Open table and very pleased with the entire meal and service was outstanding…we booked early and glad as they got very busy later in the evening but we never fell/t rushed!
Introduced my 12 year old to Indian food. She loved it!
Shalimar has been in the West Valley for many years. The food is good for a local Indian restaurant but you wont find anything special on the menu. The service was very slow and as they were busy and they had no idea that a reservation was made through open table. I am not sure they even know they have it. Wont go back on a Saturday night again much better for a mid week lunch.
Great Indian Food! Nice wine list, and candlelight!
Being one that loves a good curry, I totally recommend this gem. The atmosphere was serene and cozy but the mirrors make it appear bigger so you don't feel closed in.
I had driven past a multitude of times not realizing it was there. the service was attentive and detail explanations given where necessary. They were able to tailor to our taste for each individual dish - and there were 6 of us!
I had a shrimp madras, egg fried rice and a parata. I like my curries spicey, it was spot on. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their lamb, beef and chicken dishes and the chicken byriani was also a hit.
Am looking forward to returning again!
My most recent Shalimar experience was very disappointing. The restaurant is remodeling and the workers were hammering while we were eating. We ordered samosa and Mullagatawney soup. Our main course was Tandoori fish for me and chicken tikka masala for my wife. I asked the type of fish but the waiter didn't know. The dinners came a la carte or full dinner. The full dinner was $4.95 added to the menu price. It included coffee or tea, rice, soup or salad, and a dessert of the day. We opted for the a la carte on the strength of the assurance that all dinners came with white rice. As it turned out, my wife's dinner did not. My fish was mushy. My wife's chicken sauce was very heavy and oily and the chicken was very rubbery and tough.
