Shakou St. Charles
Great Food and Great Waitstaff. We will definitely return and tell ours friends!
Delicious food! The short rib is delicious!
Great experience overall. Background "club" music was a little too loud.
We have never been here and friends recommended it. Service was fantastic. The server offered suggestions and was very attentive. The Spicy Ahi Tune Rolls and California Rolls were perfect!
Food was good. Have been here many times. Server came by initially but left and said she would be right back. Did not return for about 15 minutes or longer to take our order. Disappointed.
Best Sushi restaurant in St Charles and the surrounding area. Food is amazing, service is flawless and the atmosphere is energizing!
Great food! Everything that we ordered was fresh and tasty!
The food and service were great. BUT, the music was too loud! Conversation was difficult. Went to the washroom and the same music was blaring there. Why? I love music, but I go to a concert for that. I go to a restaurant to eat and enjoy engaging with friends.
The maki rolls were delicious, the martinis were creative and had such a great flavor. Overall, we were so pleased with our experience.
Loved the service and atmosphere ! The food was great too!
Love this place! Great food and excellent service!
Music too loud. Seating for 6 out in the middle of kitchen/bathroom hall? You have a large party so you put them in the spot hardest to hear company across the table? Poor layout. Server did not keep up with water and did not check in with food after serving. After check was given, he never returned to the table.
Food is very fresh and flavorful. Pay about the same as chain restaurants but get high quality food that is perfectly prepared.
Everything was excellent, but the seats we had, 4 of us, on both sides of the booth, were totally blown out...it felt like our behinds were in a well
The food we ordered was mediocre. The crab cakes and shumai shrimp dumpling soup was good. My boyfriend’s fish was over seasoned and my firecracker shrimp breading tasted like Popeye’s. The cuts of vegetables for our entrees and how they were cooked were mediocre too. The hibiscus martini I got tasted bitter and not very tasty - the sake part of it was alright. The waitress was very good and attentive. The waitstaff and kit hen brought out food efficiently.
Very cool place. Both was strange and uncomfortable
This place is still my favorite sushi out in the burbs! They also have a gluten free menu complete with gluten free soy sauce (GF recently diagnosed). So that was an awesome adder. Love the atmosphere, music, and of course the food. Try the Niku Niku, Gentlemen, and the Ocean Drive. It is a little more expensive than the average suburban place, but you get what you pay for. Great Stuff!
Food was very good. Music a bit loud. DJ not necessary. Music played after DJ was gone was better. Loved the sofa seating. Had a nice time.
Very nice. I asked for a table in the front and it was reserved for us. Thank you for the birthday cake - you made the night very special for us.
Unique sushi that you won’t find at other restaurants. Recommend the gentlemen roll
Frequent diner. Love your food. Tonight the veggies with the Tokyo Steak were rather cold and less fire grilled than usual.
Wish we could have substituted a side salad for the veggies for my friend who was celebrating her birthday.
Greatly appreciated the call warning about the road closed due to the parade! Thanks
We LOVE Shakou! It’s our go to Destination for the best in sushi and Asian fusion. Drink and beer list extensive and always treated like VIPs!
Danielle was a great server. Food was good. Sat in a booth for a first time- loved sitting in back of restaurant- and would like to sit there all the tine!!!
However, as you sit in the seat of the booth- you sink- - you could feel the frame of the booth seat.
Overall I would say this is an average sushi restaurant. The menu is large but had limited choices for cooked sushi. The quality of the ingredients is good but the prices are high . The seating is uncomfortable and the chairs are cheaply made , almost to the point of not being safe. The service was fine.
Food is always great. Apparently our waiter had other stuff to do and could not wait for us to get the hell out. We left and it will be a L O N G while until we come back. The food is great, however the overall bill should be considerably less since you have to deal with the snarky-ness. I would give a 5 star rating for the food if I could have ordered it and got it myself.
Shakou has great food and drink options, but they are overpriced for what you get as far as service. The manager did stop by our table and was very welcoming but our server was not friendly and seemed irritated by us. When you spend almost $200 on a meal for 2, I believe you should have top notch service....
The food is good and fresh but pretty pricey. They seem to like to play a lot of techno beat music which can get pretty loud and makes conversation difficult at times.
Food was very good.
Great place for lunch! The bento box lunches are not only delicious, but filling. Even with a fairly filled dining room, the noise level was fairly low. Our server, Danielle, is not just friendly, she is also prompt and attentive to your needs.
Our family loves Shakou! All the food we have ever ordered is fresh and good. Sushi is by far the best we have had in the area. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Everything was great! Food is always fresh!
The ambiance is quite nice. Excellent place for a date. Food was very good, fresh, tasty but lacked in originality when it comes to its sashimi selection. I challenge the chef to introduce different type of fish so this great restaurant can stand ahead of other restaurants offering sashimi.
Filet mignon was the worst I have ever had. The vegetables had way too much salt. Nothing on the plate was edible. My girlfriend ask for a cooked salmon plate. She said it was too good. Service was great though.
Outstanding food and service!......................................,..
Perfect spot for Valentine’s Day dinner, we asked on Open Table to be sat upstairs where the couches were. Initially we were seated at the chaise lounge against the railing but we moved to the couches which were more comfortable. We ordered two plates of sushi to share, which were delicious and fresh. Perfect with our proseco & Pinot noir. Such a romantic setting!
Philomena was our server. She was fabulous! Food was great, oyster appetizer and edamame too, sea scallops and shrimp and firecracker shrimp for entrees. Great night!
Food was really great, and the service was excellent. However, the booths were absolute torture. I’m almost 6 ft tall and my feet didn’t touch the floor. They are 2 x 4s with fabric over them. Simply painful to sit in, so much so that I could not wait to leave. The server said that the booths were a frequent complaint - yet they remain. So overall, good for carry out but would not go there again because of the horrible seating.
Excellent Sushi, great atmosphere too....fun girls night out!!
Dinner was delicious! I love your Snow Cosmos! It is my new favorite drink!
