An amazing culinary experience! The staff was super friendly and accommodating and even started us off with complimentary champagne for our anniversary celebration! The salmon and halibut were divine!
Our server, Lauren, was excellent. She was attentive and made helpful suggestions. The food was good although my wife was surprised when her halibut arrived and it had been fried rather than grilled or broiled. My scallops were very tasty and cooked perfectly. We both had the burrata salad and were happy we ordered one for each of us as they were too small to split. For dessert we had the Grand Mariner fruit dish which was a surprise to us as we were expecting something different. We were happy with the dessert.
Our only concerns with this restaurant was its location. There is on street parking just outside the restaurant that's fine but parking lots in the neighborhood are likely to be occupied by homeless folks. We parked at the 3rd & Stewart garage which worked well. We suggest walking from there to the restaurant on 2nd Avenue as at 3rd Avenue & Virginia there was a homeless encampment. At the time of our visit the Klimpton Palladian hotel was closed for renovation.
Good food but a bit too salty
My husband and I had an amazing experience dining at Shaker & Spear! Our server was super knowledgeable about every single thing on the menu! He made great recommendations. We had cocktails, appetizer, meals, and 2 desserts!!! This is one of those meals I will think about for years! I will recommend this restaurant to everyone I know traveling to the Seattle area! 5 stars and then a couple more stars!!! Simply amazing!
Delicious food. There was a strange tag-team thing happening with our servers, but the staff was small and they were all pitching in to help. Overall a fantastic experience.
We came at 5 PM and were among the first seated in this light and modern room. Excellent food, great service and drinks. We especially recommend the Manila clams and the pulpo croquettes. Most enjoyable!
The food was excellent, the ambiance was lovely, and the wait staff was exceptional. We had a wonderful time.
Great somewhat causal, not uptight, locale for good food. Great service!
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle downtown, especially for seafood. Something has changed. Salmon was dry, overcooked, with some overly thick gooey sauce. The entire entree was over salted. My husband ordered the ribeye, medium rare. It came well done. The experience makes me wonder if previous chef is no longer there.
I will not be going back.
Terrible service. The waitress ruined our night, was so rude and mocked a member of my family. We were appalled and after spending $400 deeply regret coming here.
Small but effective menu
The food was amazing as well as the staff. We will definitely be going back again when in Seattle!
The oysters were bad and the rest of the food was unimpressive.
Thank you for your feedback. I can assure that our oysters are the best quality available to us and fresh daily. We will continue to monitor our service and food standards as we reopen fully. We sincerely appreciate your review!
An unexpected treasure!
The food was good but the size of portions and the price was outrageous. $32 for 3 Scallops that looked more like an appetizer & you had to pay for sides ($10 for fries). We wish we would have gone somewhere else for dinner. Not worth the money.
Our snitzel was overcooked but waitress and other entrees were excellent
Food was excellent. Service was friendly and casual. Do yourself a favor and eat here, you won’t regret it.
Gluten free options
I eat out at a lot of nice places and this place was outstanding. By far the best meal we've had in a long time.
Our overall experience was great. The atmosphere is really nice, service was good and food delicious. Only small things that took this from a 5 to 4 star experience:
1) Truffle fries were good, not great. My wife is a fry fan so she had opinions…
2) we sat next to a wall and it was noticeably dirty. For a fancy restaurant, these are the details that should be taken care of
3) server took my empty wine glass but didn’t ask me if I’d like another drink until we were done eating. I was ready to spend on a second drink…
With all that being said, we would definitely return and recommend.
Pickled kumquat garnish could use a little sugar.
The food and drinks were spectacular! Josh our server was excellent and made us the perfect drinks. The muscles were the best we have ever had and we have traveled extensively. The lamb shank and paella made to perfection as well. Best dining so far in Seattle!
We came to Shaker + Spear for my birthday and it did not disappoint! The staff made me feel so special, the food and the drinks were all excellent, and the interior was romantic. The salmon was amazing and the mussels were the best I have ever had. Next time I am in Seattle, I will definitely be visiting Shaker + Spear again…and again…and again.
We love it here!! Always on the list whenever someone comes to visit. The cocktails are so so good, the food is divine and the wait staff is killer. 10/10 highly recommend :)
Came here for a special dinner for Father's Day. My dad really enjoyed the white fish he ordered. My mom unfortunately did not love the lamb shank and there were no real vegan options for myself or my husband. The lower level is beautifully designed, and the service was friendly. I'd recommend coming here if you're looking for seafood, but if you have any friends/family with dietary restrictions there are little to no options. Prices were fairly high for the quality.
This was not at all what we expected based on previous reviews. Service was average at best but the ambience was terrible. Our table was placed next to a set of double doors with a chain locking it. The room was dark and old fashioned feeling. The chairs were incredibly uncomfortable as they were so small. It clearly did not match the music or restaurant attitude.
We ordered oysters and they were substandard compared to other restaurants we had oysters at. We ended up leaving and went elsewhere.
It was absolutely spectacular! Lauren was amazing server. Couldn’t have had a better dinner in Seattle!
Amazing seafood dishes. I would come back and try other dishes.
Absolutely a great find. Food was excellent and the service impeccable
Great food and service! The halibut was to die for and the steak was cooked perfectly!
This was a birthday celebration for my daughter. Her boyfriend flew in to surprise her and the host and staff did their utmost to ensure that is was a phenomenal experience.
Lovely place and great food!
Fantastic meal with a fantastic staff and food.
The moment we were seated we were given 1 paper menu to share. Ten minutes later our waiter came, and my husband told him we'd like to have a drink first. The waiter wanted to take our whole order right then, so we decided on what we were ordering. Our drinks arrived with the delicious burrata salad. Hmm... was he listening? We ate the salad, because we figured the entree would soon follow, which it did. Both dishes were delicious, yet we waited... and waited for our second ordered drink, which arrived at least 10 minutes after we'd finished dinner. We let the waiter know it was my husband's birthday when we ordered, and reiterated that when he ordered dessert. The waiter brought it with zero fanfare- no candle, no "Happy Birthday!" Hmm... The atmosphere was sterile, rushed, and loud - somewhat uncomfortable metal chairs on concrete floors. The food was awesome, but service & ambiance were lacking.
Truffle fries were amazing as was the Mac n cheese- portions sizes for salmon and burger were smile- although a ton of fries…
Exceptional dinner and drinks. Service was fast and personal.
Delicious food and friendly attentive service. Truly an excellent spot to dine with friends
The barmaid/waitress took our order so quickly that I couldn't add a side to my order. We ordered a salad as an appetizer, but they brought it out with our dinner. We waited 30 minutes for something to eat. Then, when the runner brought out the salad and meals, I expressed dissatisfaction so he left the salad and took off with our dinners! When the food finally came back out, the steelhead was warm but dry. The barmaid wouldn't even look at me, let alone apologize for the mistake. The draft beer was not very cold. The room was drafty. Worst choice we made on this trip, definitely don't recommend.
I was excited to return after having a wonderful meal with out-of-town guests in the fall of 2019. Last night was not like that meal or experience - the service was not the same, nor was the quality of the food experience. And we were seated in a hide-away bar area upstairs (different name of establishment on the window), and certainly had an entirely different vibe than the restaurant (not chic at all). I had hyped the restaurant to friends that were joining us, and I felt bad that I had told them it was "so good". I was disappointed and it was an average experience.
Great service and ambience & Good food!
