Shades Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
The staff went above and beyond to make my wife’s birthday a very special day!
Chris started us off with a wonderful lunch. We came back to an outstanding dinner service with Sarah and Justin plus of course the bar and culinary staff. The food was top quality.
The staff presented my wife with a signed birthday card and birthday cake was delivered to our room.
This is the place for great food and service. Our server Rebecca was excellent, very attentive. Beautiful decor and ambiance plus the view of the pool and ocean. Live music on Saturday. We park at pacific city and walk to burn off the sumptuous dessert. Our fav place.
Great brunch with family to celebrate birthdays. The service was amazing, delivered by Hayley, and the food was good. Downside is that the buffet self-serving ares were narrow/small and cramped, lines were a bit long (but not super daunting). Overall a nice setting and a good experience.
The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. I had ribs, my wife one of the fish dishes. Everything was very well prepared, delicious and the dessert (death by chocolate) was particularly good. Service was very friendly; even though this is a captive hotel restaurant, it didn't feel like anyone was taken for granted. We didn't stay at the hotel, just chose to try the restaurant out because of the other great reviews. Pricing isn't cheap, but seems more than fair for food, service and ambiance of this quality.
Our waiter, David, was a Great. We went there for my wifes birthday the day after Labor Day. So, the place was not that busy. David made our experience very enjoyable. He was patient with us with our ordering without being rushed. We took him up on his recommendations for the flat iron steak after noting the bottle of Malbec we ordered. The wine, food, and location made it a memorable birthday dinner.
I had a wonderful time at shades the food was excellent our server Dave was super awesome he really took care of me in my day The View was phenomenal very good wine selection and a nice group of Hawaiian dancers was just a bonus when they were dancing poolside I will definitely be telling my friends and I will definitely be coming back
Have been to Shades frequently in this great weather for outside dining. Food is consistently good, and we like what the new Chef has done with the menu. Usually our waiter is Tony and he is the best. With his knowledge of the menu, you can see that he cares about Shades. We look forward to your changes along with your expansion. But for right now, Shades is our go to place for food, service and atmosphere.
We had our dinner at Shades on Christmas day, at 5:00 pm. Unfortunately, it was dark by that time, so not much chance to enjoy the ocean view. Our waiter was very attentive, and the food was very good. We had the prime rib, with wine, and split a dessert. There was a slight mix up with putting our leftovers in containers to take home, but the error was fixed without any fuss. It was quite expensive, but that was expected.
Stayed at the Waterfront Beach hotel and decided to stay in the hotel for dinner with my wife. Inside dining is not real inviting but outside is very nice. Plus there was a guitarist playing a great mix of rock songs outside. Not intrusive or loud, just right.
I had the bone-in ribeye which was tremendous. Truly one of the best ribeyes I've had. Can't believe I'm saying that but it's true. My wife had the short ribs which were just ok. Kinda dry, can't recommend. Caesar salad was excellent, party due to the really tasty home-made croutons. Short wine list but some high quality wines. The Stag's Leap cab was incredible.
Overall great dining. We went for breakfast, so the place was quiet and we were able to sit outside.
They made an error in my order--only worth 75¢, and I was hungry so it wasn't worth correcting. The server was a bit shady in showing me the bill--he didn't actually hand me the check, just opened it up and told me the price. So, I didn't have time to verify if they did or didn't charge me for my extra order.
They had, but it was only 75¢, so it wasn't worth the hassle of rerunning my card. Other than that, everything was great. Will go back again!
I planned a surprise birthday. They were able to accommodate my large guest request. Service and food were great. My only complaint is when I arrived with my boyfriend (guest of honor) the hostess blew the surprise by stating "oh yes party of 15." After all my planning and ability to pull it off, she almost ruined it completely. So I just wish they were more on board with reading notes and requests per reservations. Overall, great evening and beautiful ambience.
