When long time local Kevin Valaika convinced his brother, Head Chef Robert, to come to Park City three years ago, they had one thing on their mind: skiing Utah's famous powder, and combining their many years of experience with Asian cuisine to create a unique dining experience for Park City locals and visitors. Their dream comes to you at Shabu, where they offer a freestyle blend of their favorite Asian cuisine; exciting and nourishing weary skiers from all over the world.

Shabu Ratings and Reviews
Food is consistently great. Our service not as good this time. My hot soba came out 20 minutes before my friends’ sushi. The reason given was our server’s timing of turning our ticket in. With better training, my scores would be much higher. Manager that evening wasn’t too concerned when we complained either.
We come every year when we come to Park City and will continue to do so. Great environment and great service. From the moment you arrive and greated by Kevin and the good vibe starts. Then Rob, the chef, brings you the food and makes sure you know what you are getting and how to eat it to get the best effect. Overall, my favorite restaurant in Park City
Great atmosphere, located below street level with low ceiling and lots of interesting metal artwork. Very cozy. Excellent staff. Has an eclectic mix of sushi and other Asian oriented delicacies. Enjoyed the hot rock cooking. Everything was great. Good value for the experience.
What a disappointment when our “blistered string beans “ can out 1/2 the usual serving size. Our request to sit at the bar didn’t happen which I understand but a high top table was open in the bar area but we were seated at a nearby low table. We usually love sitting at the bar. We were offered the bar after we were settled in at the table. We stayed where we were. We ordered a tempera sushi item which was good but overpriced. The entire cost was $68 for the 2 menu items, 2 house wines and a beer. Not a great value for my opinion.. appetizers. Service was good.
We've been to Shabu many times. Always busy. Always hope to get a booth [but if you're just 2 or 3 dinner at the bar can be fun]. Food is ALWAYS interesting and delicious. Servers are very knowledgeable and the service is surprisingly quick. Drinks are excellent - even non-alcoholic. Fun upbeat atmosphere. Very tight seating but somehow it works - unless you're looking for quiet and roomy. The noise level is high. Wouldn't recommend for an intimate night of conversation and dining but otherwise it's different and excellent. I will say that although the pork was delicious, it was a little too fatty [really]. Otherwise everything was EXCELLENT. It's expensive but actually worth the price. Can't wait for the next time...
I definitely recommend for you and your family to try out Shabu. My family and I travel a lot and this by far is our favorite Asian food restaurant that we have ever been to. Not to mention that the prices are great for the amazing service, food quality, and environment that they offer. Just remember to reserve before you go because it gets very busy.
We visit Park City every year for our family ski vacation. Some of the highlights of our trips always include going to our favorite restaurants out there. Tried Shabu for the first time this year and it’s now #1 on our favorites list...above The Mariposa, Prime Steakhouse, and Yuki Yama! Food was wonderful and place was FUN!
Table service was so slow that our food was being served before our first drinks arrived. They completely forgot about a bottle of wine, as well. There were two, kind waitresses who had to do a lot of the attending at our table because our waiter was nowhere to be found.
Our favorite place in Park City. Have been going there several times a year for six years. Service is consistently great despite the size of crowd they have. Kevin has managed to keep the same staff for years. Fantastic food. Dinner at Shabu is always a memorable experience.
This is our fourth meal at Shabu and our first with kids. The food was super as usual and we were seated immediately (definitely have a reservation). It was holiday week and the place was packed, so our meal was quick and the table was a little cramped, but that didn’t bother us with the kids. Great inventive cuisine - highly recommend!
Sorry Shabu. You failed when you stuck us into a booth shoved so far in the corner, I was claustrophobic. There was also dust hanging from the wall art above our table which was special. The other tables were not much better since people seemed to have chairs right in the aisles. Come on Shabu! Take a table or two out and don’t be so greedy! It could turn out alright because the food was pretty good.
Bring your platinum card, everything is $17-25 dollars so for our Family of three orde an appetizer and a main dish each person (x3), meant we were already $120 bucks in without ordering a single drink. That being said, it is Park City so just keep the expense in mind when booking. It is on the higher end in price. We are from Southern California where sushi is plentiful and found that the rolls do not match other regions, for example, a California Roll is nothing like a "California" made California Roll, not a critique, just a cautionary tale to ask for an explanation of what's in each roll before you order...it may not match what you are used to. There is some artistic license taken in the ingredients. Also, try the Pork Belly appetizer, you get three taco like concoctions, they are fabulous...ignore the price, grin and bear it. It is worth it once.
