I have eaten at this restaurant about 5 times. the caesar salad is enormous and recommend you share it and it is then a very good value. I didn't enjoy my ravioli as it was way too rich. service was good

Great atmosphere, great food, it was a bummer that the first batch of bread was burnt. But other than that everything was very good

Good food, but markedly overpriced. We go because my wife loves the food, recognizes that the prices are vastly in excess of the cost of the ingredients but feels the chefs get wonderful results from them. I am less convinced: The antipasto is really skimpy, and at $22, grossly overpriced. I've had much better Bolognese, even though Sfoglia's is good. I've had equally good, or better desserts elsewhere for half of the $18-24 prices at Sfoglia. I can tolerate rustic atmosphere; but I cannot tolerate pricey food served on chipped, or especially multiply chipped plates. In short, I go to honor my wife's preferences; but I prefer it when she goes when I'm out of town.

There are so many ways one can describe this High-end Italian restaurant. For me, I will say that I love the chandelier-lit dining room that has a rustic European ambiance with rustic wood floors along with carved out wooden tables.

This restaurant appears on a corner of Lexington and East 92nd Street in a very unassuming part of Carnegie Hill stretching into the northern part of the Upper Eastside. My daughter recommended me to this restaurant because she knows that I am always looking for unusual interesting new places that I have never been.

Whenever I try an Italian restaurant where I have never eaten before, I usually will ask the owner or server what are their signature pasta dishes. I tend to judge an Italian restaurant by their creative Pasta entrees first. Then the next time I dine at the restaurant, I will try other dishes while slowly learning more about the restaurant and enjoying each choice to its fullest.

For my first taste of food at this restaurant, we ordered the half portion of the pappardelle all Bolognese for an entrée, which was a combination of different meats cooked in a sauce such as veal and beef. It was wonderful and I was also very impressed how the flavors of the meat sauce just burst with flavors with every bite. With concluded our meal with a creative fig flavored gelato for desert along with expresso.

Although this was just a taste for my first visit, I will be back often. The knowledgeable servers and the chef's passion for creating interesting flavors of Italian dishes will allure me often to this rustic restaurant.

We had a late reservation and arrived on time at 10 PM. Tables were packed so we decided to sit at the bar which was a great idea. Bartender was knowledgeable and friendly and mixed us a fantastic cocktail and made recommendations for dinner. We had octopus and clams for an appetizer which were out of control. We each had a pasta for dinner and they were spot on. We also ordered a peach crostata for dessert and it was absolutely delicious. I would feel very comfortable recommending this restaurant to friends and family.

We sat at the bar and being on an aggressive diet had a delicious caesery salad and of course the chicken! Wonderful and just the comfort food needed after a week of almost fasting. Have been here in the past and pigged out on bread, wine and desserts which may be why we are in a diet.
Reccommend highly .

It was an ordinary Tuesday night and Sfoglia was rocking. Every spot was taken, there were young people galore, and the air crackled with animated conversation. An old favorite, this was our first time there under Sfoglia's new ownership. Any hesitation on our part was quickly dispelled by a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Sparkling Sfoglia classic cocktails--a lively prosecco garnished with fresh fruit--were both delicious and beautiful. The crispy Australian snapper on a bed of Brussel sprouts, pine nuts, mushrooms, and bacon bits was a new winner for us, while the famous Sfoglia bread pudding of yore and a succulent peach torte a la mode--each ample serving could easily yield two portions--completed the parade of gustatory delight. What a pleasure to rediscover this fine Italian restaurant.

I hadn't been to this restaurant for a number of years, but it is very convenient to the 92nd Street Y so we decided to meet up with friends before a recent lecture. Now I remember why we stopped going there. We got there at 5:45 and we didn't get our dinner until 6:50. Since it was earlier than we usually like to have dinner, we all ordered just main courses and as we were going to a lecture only two of us ordered wine. Maybe, they decided we weren't worth the effort. But the wait was ridiculous. The chicken dish is excellent, but it comes without anything but the chicken. We did order some sides, one of which, the smashed potatoes , was excellent and the cauliflower was terrible. All in all, the food is not worth the money and the service (or the kitchen--not clear where the fault lies) was bad.

The food at Sfoglia is delicious, the service professional and attentive, and the atmosphere also charming ---- particularly in the back room, it feels as though you are dining in a French country house. It is also very close to the 92nd St Y, making it a good spot to dine before a concert.

The problem is the noise level. We met friends there, and it was so loud we could barely have a conversation. Sadly, I don't expect to return unless we can be there off peak hours when the restaurant is quieter.

I already Yelped. Find me there: Victoria O. New York, New York. AMAZING dinner

Burrata appetizer off the hook great, with figs and berries.

Poached shrimp appetizer , healthy, light, and flavorful. Corn in season is heavenly.

Corn fusili pasta with ricotta and kale pesto is my favorite pasta of the year in the city and I am sad that it will be gone soon when summer menu changes over.

Wonderful as always. Service excellent.

And limoncello sublime too.

I've been to Sfoglia twice before. My friend who owns Kaia Wine Bar worked there 6 years. It's a beautiful , rustic Italian with a different feel from many at the comparable price point. The half-orders of pasta are more than enough and at 17-19 a good deal. The antipasti/crostini special was simply sublime and truly innovative. The servers know the menu and the wine list inside and out and attentive, but not hovering. I love this restaurant and will be back again. The fusili with corn and something else is tremendous. The peekytoe crab pasta is outstanding. Just a great place. Try to sit at the bar OR in the back room. The banquette tables are impossible. You cannot cross your legs unless you do a spinal twist and swing legs to one side or the other. Cute repurposed tables, I gather, with distressed wood but they are not comfortable. The hang down is so low there it literally no other way to sit unless you swing legs far to the side. As a yoga lady I can do that but you should not have to do yoga at dinner.

My husband and I have been looking forward to eating at Sfoglia since we moved to Carnegie Hill two years ago. While the food and atmosphere were nice, we found it to be very expensive. Especially comparing it to other similar restaurants in the West Village and elsewhere in the city.
