Sfoglia is a lovely little trattoria residing on an unassuming stretch of the Upper East Side, across the street from the 92nd Street Y. Farmhouse tables topped with the season's produce are the appropriate setting for Sfoglia's country Italian fare. The private dining room tucked away upstairs can seat an intimate party of twelve.
A neighborhood staple. Food is always excellent.
Homey Italian food, well flavored and nicely prepared. Generous portions A completely satisfying meal.
Best Friends getting to getting together. Xo. Awesome experience.
This wonderful gem in the UES hood is a delight. A eclectic range of Italian course set in a lay back and warm atmosphere
Very attentive service, great food, awesome desserts
Perfect food. Perfect place
The shared tables are ridiculous when you are spending $200 on dinner for 2.
The food was very disappointing - we ordered spaghetti bolognese which was so bland that adding salt and pepper flakes made it only a little bit better. Very disappointing meal indeed
Great food. Order the flatbread, for sure. A little abrupt on the service side, but within tolerance.
Amazing food, service, and ambiance.
The food was okay but overpriced. The building looks downright trashy.
This is supposed to be a "neighborhood" restaurant, but it clearly is a step above that. The food is excellent and it feels like you are dining in Tuscany. We really enjoyed excellent fish, pasta, antipasti and pear tart.
Excellent service, plats raffinés quoiqu’un peu cher
local upper east side Italian! Very intimate and cozy.
Love this place. The food is consistently delicious, and the atmosphere is both elegant and cozy, particularly the front room.
Food, staff and atmosphere were outstanding. Will come back again.
it was terrific! wish it was a little more moderately priced ... i would go much more often!
The perfect place for grown ups wanting a pleasant dining experience. Elbow room, staff that knows what they are doing, excellent food and wine selection. Decor not over done. Comfortable. I felt well taken care of on all sensory levels.
What a wonderful dinner! Sfoglia was so warm and welcoming in spite of the outside weather. The wine by the glass offerings were small but well chosen. I ordered the special chicken al mottone and it was absolutely wonderful. My only complaint is that it comes with no sides. I added the parsnip mash which was delicious but too pricey at $16. My friend ordered two appetizers, mushroom soup and kale salad -- both were beautifully prepared and delicious.
The reception and service were very efficient and warm. Our server warned us that the chicken would take time to prepare so we were not surprised by the wait. All in all, a wonderful dinner.
We had a lovely experience and delicious food at Sfoglia. The entree-sized pastas were great (I particularly enjoyed my cavatelli with braised rabbit in a mushroom ragu, which was umami-rich with perfectly al dente cavatelli) but portions were larger than we expected: I'll order a bit differently next time with that in mind. The wine list is small but there were some very good options, including a pinot nero and an Etna rosso that we enjoyed. We were seated in the downstairs dining room, which was atmospheric and quite lovely, but at about half-full, already very hard to talk and hear each other.
Always great atmosphere great people great food
I was very impressed & pleased with the ambiance.
The quality of the food was excellent.
Great ambiance and delicious food.
I love the antipasto della casa though it is very pricey. The dessert torta, which one orders at the beginning of the meal is always outstanding as it is made from scratch while people eat their meal.
The chicken al mattone is the best I've ever had, tho again it's overpriced.
Te bread is terrific, the ambiance comfortable, and the service very good.
Sfoglia is my go-to before and after events at 92 StY across the street. More than that, it has a cozy, elegant, neighborhood feel and the food is exceptional - especially the romaine salad. For me, it is pricey, but the overall experience makes it worth the splurge. The staff is attentive and makes you feel like a VIP. Highly recommend!
Excellent as always consistent in food service and ambience.
Not an easy reservation (just 10 tables) but it should be on the list of restaurants you set a reminder to call in advance for a reservation the following month. The food never disappoints - as good as any UES Italian, in my opinion - and is always a perfect combination of creative, incredibly fresh and nuanced. The charcuterie, pastas and bread pudding are the staples but it's the more original courses that you remember.
Too noisy. Food was delish.
A neighborhood favorite with excellent food and a seasonally changing menu with the freshest ingredients. Always a challenge to decide between the outstanding pasta offerings and the fish special or the always perfect chicken under a brick. Don't refuse the warm bread -- it's worth every bite. Enjoy a full-bodied cabernet with your meal. The clams with sausage are a delicious starter.
It is a fabulous neighborhood and Delicious restaurant! Service food and ambiance all fabulous! Our waiter, Teddy made it even better guiding us through the menu. Will definitely go back on a regular basis! Total gem!!
Exquisite service enhanced the outstanding food.
We have been quite disappointed by the food, which was too complicated and not up to the promise. Decoration and atmosphere are fine.
Love that they have half portions of pasta dishes. The Caesar salad is excellent as is everything else!
Amazing restaurant.... food, drinks and service were wonderful
Pasta Bolognese’s sauce was nearly inedible.
Has to be one of the friendliest places around. Very neighborhood and casual with unpretentious haute cuisine.
Delightful restaurant. Somewhat on the dark side and wasn't able to read the menu. Overall, very satisfied.
This is a wonderful Italian restaurant. They aren't giving away the food, mind you, but it's worth it.
The bread a marvelous as are the pastas. The intimate space can't be beat. It does get a bit noisy at times, but what doesn't? And as it's located near the 92nd St. Y, it is convenient for the literati.
We arrived almost an hour before our reservation, and the staff was very accommodating despite having a full restaurant. The service was great, the staff was friendly, the food was amazing and we had a great night!
