Severn Inn Ratings and Reviews
The Rockfish was very good to excellent and at an acceptable price $36. The Ribeye stake was horrible (had grizzle & large pockets of fat throughout which was not easily spotted due to being smothered in mushroom gravy plus two onion rings) and way over priced at $50.
We were a group of 6 adults celebrating pre-Christmas. Considering the price of the food, the quality was not comparable. Many of the entrees came out cold or parts of the food on the dish were cold like they were prepared that morning and added to the parts that were just cooked. The pre-cooked parts were not a good temp, taste or texture. Would not return.
The Severn Inn is literally on the water and overlooks the United States naval Academy across the river. the view is about the best in Annapolis. this is also their major selling point. the food is very good though my Quinoa salad was too heavy on Quinoa and light on salad. Service is casual but effective. the menu is seafood heavy as would be expected though they have a good variety of lunch and dinner dishes. they are getting to be expensive and were it not for the view for guests I would find other spots for lunch.
I dined with 9 people on a Tuesday afternoon at 11:30. I felt that with the restaurant being a little slow at the time the service was a little lax and one of the guests actually had to wave the server over a few times to keep our pace of the experience going. He did not greet us or take a drink order after we sat or within the first 5 minutes of us all being sat. I know this can be hard wiTh staggered entry by customers but once all were sat, it’s fine to interrupt conversation to introduce yourself and mention the specials and get a drink order before taking orders. This could’ve bolstered the check exponentially higher. My flank steak salad was amazing but the guests to the right and left said the fish special (mahi) had little taste in both the fish tacos and grilled fish sandwich. I had to ask for Fresh pepper for a $19 salad- I think it should’ve been offered straight away and it should’ve been offered to the entire table. The crab cake was superb. I would recommend the restaurant with the caveat that though the view is amazing and some dishes are perfect, the service during my 8 or 9 visits has me feeling there isn’t a consistent training method or ‘standard’ expected of servers.
We were looking for a quiet place for old friends to visit. Sunday evening was the perfect time. Great view across the water. Crab cakes, Mahi, scallops and Rockfish were all superbly done and presented with excellent garnishments. Always a favorite place. We closed the place but were not rushed out by the staff. Very gracious folks.
We are never disappointed when we come. Our food was outstanding. The crab cake appetizer was like a meal - a very well-prepared meal at that. It came with roasted carrots, fried green tomatoes, and crispy roasted brussel sprouts. On a whim, I ordered the mac and cheese side. It was wonderful and plenty for four of us to share.
We were pleased Linda was there serving that night. She is beyond excellent - so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.
The food is underwhelming. The squash salad was doused in a thick gloppy dressing, cheese, and sugar. The squash were not on display. The same can be said for the tuna and octopus appatizers as well. They were completely overpowered by everything on the plate. The cheese board presentation was lacking. There were two sad looking wilted butter leaf lettuce leaves on the plate for no apparent reason. We didn’t get dessert.
My wife and I met our son before a Navy Hockey game. The service was excellent, and understood we had a time restraint. Food was very good, and was a decent value. We shared the crab dip (Excellent), a couple of us had the crab soup (Excellent) and we shared a bottle of wine (the seemed to be a wide assortment of price/value wines on the menu). The entre's arrived in a timely manner and everyone thought their particular entre was great! We will come back!
We’ve been to Severn Inn for lunch, both inside and outside, and we’re very pleased. The overall experiences at those times were pleasant. The evening, however, was a very different story. It seemed everything was inadequate the food was average, definitely not worth the cost, although the presentation was nice. The “new” item on the menu was a pork chop. The person in our group who ordered the chop said it was over cooked, dry, and tough to eat; of the zucchini he received , some were over cooked and some were undercooked, very inconsistent. The service was almost non existent. The staff seemed young and uninterested in us, but more interested in each other. It didn’t seem like and adult was present to run the place. Overall, the cost outweighed the flavor, and not a positive experience at all.
