From the moment we arrived, we were greeted as if we were regulars, very welcoming and accommodating. We were introduced to Cindy, the wine steward, who was new but well-versed in wines. We talked about my favorite, Williamette Valley Oregon Pinot Noirs which the restaurant had several to choose from by the bottle. They did not have the first selection (Penner Ash), but brought out a bottle of Stoller 2015. I shared a tasting of the wine with Cindy and we discussed the essence and taste of the wine.
Our waitress Molly was very friendly and observant of my wife's dietary restrictions. Molly made sure that the kitchen substituted items that my wife may have been allergic to. I had the scallops with succotash while our guests had steak and crab cakes. The scallops were cooked to perfection. Molly noticed that one of our guests steak was under cooked and had the steak brought back to cook more without our guest asking.
The dinner was so enjoyable and we finished off with the blueberry pound cake - so good!
We look forward to making the hour+ drive from Clarksburg to dine again at The Severn Inn.
Such a beautiful place ... splendid views. Makes me feel like I am on vacation! Love the crab cake with fried green tomatoes. Kind service
We finally got air conditioning back!
We made a reservation and noted it was a special occasion. When we arrived there were 4 young women sitting on stools around the hostess stand, all buried in their iPhones. they were all dressed skimpily, and one was leaning forward so her entire chest was exposed (no bra). They seated us in a terrible location surrounded by a huge, large party. When we reminded them it was a special occasion they moved us to a better table, but sandwiched between two tables with babies & small children. We waited 10minutes (not exaggerating) before a waitress came over and took our drink orders. When we asked for menus she said “oh, today’s the buffet”. It was our first time, so we would not have known. We walked through the buffet line and perhaps it was because it was 1:30pm but everything looked disgusting (mushy, soggy, wilted). So we just left and went somewhere else.
My favorite place for Sunday Brunch in the Annapolis area!
Beautiful restaurant location and great ambiance, plus the brunch buffet was incredible- especially the raw bar and dessert station.
Very impressed with food quality, service was very good. Only comment - made reservations asking for outside seating - but were told on arrival that it would be an hour wait to get it - the reservation process should state that clearly.
Though it was expensive, the food was outstanding, drinks were awesome, and the location was delightful!
We go to Severn Inn at least once or twice a year to celebrate birthday/anniversary. This year was our 48th wedding anniversary, and my wife's 70th birthday. So, we decided to go to the restaurant that we have both loved for many years. The crab cakes were great and so was the monkfish.
Anniversary- beautiful sunset views of Academy chapel where we got married!
Our First Time! my wife and I went to celebrate a birthday. if you want ambiance, a great view of the severn river and USNA, this is the place! Plenty of out door and indoor seating. Awesome wine list, really short menu for entries, but all good to pick from. monkfish! have not had that in a while. seafood stew was also awesome, especially if you like food and not just broth. we will be back!
The food was very good. The scallops were excellent. The service was slow and forgetful in one instance.
Usually do the Inn for lunch, but decided to bring my Dad down for dinner. It was fantastic! From cocktails to desert, we couldn’t ask for a better experience. We had cream of crab and tomato gazpacho soups, the crab cake appetizer for our main course and shared the blueberry upside down cake. Marge our waitress was a delight!
Recommended to us by a resident of Annapolis. The reception was cluttered and confused. The waitress was not good but this was then topped by the food presentation. We both ordered the top of the menu and I have never had a fine steak piled on top of a mass of french fries. The presentation was probably the worst I have ever seen and I am in the restaurant/club business. The other issue was the limited offering on the menu. Shortly after being served, our table was ignored by staff and after waiting for some period of time I had to request a check from the long departed waitress.
I come to the Severn Inn for the view and the convenience. The lunch menu was very limited this time. My friend mentioned, at the end of our meal, that she felt that our lunch was over-priced and the food "sub par", and I had to agree with her. I had the shrimp salad sandwich and she had the softshell crab sandwich. Still love the view and the easy parking, but hope they improve the food.
Wonderful views. We ate outside which has a limited menu. With several allergies including shell fish and gluten, menu was limited. I suggest they design a gluten free menu and expand menu
Around the corner from our home...it’s still spectacular every time we dine there!
Service was very slow even though it was a very quiet night in the restaurant - lots of empty tables. Food was way overpriced for quality - only worth it for the view of USNA across the Severn. We are happy to pay for good food but this was not worth the price. Hit the deck for a drink and the view but pass on dinner.
Totall Over priced. Wanted $3.00 per plate for cupcakes WE brought in for a birthday. Will never go there again for a special occasion.
Lovely brunch with a great selection of buffet items as well as the option to order cooked to order egg dishes. The food was tasty & attractively presented. The outdoor deck with the water view provided a relaxing setting & the service was outstanding.
Underwhelming. Lots of oil and sauce. Fish was fine but beef was skinny 1/2” slice of filet and overcooked. Grey in color when med to med rare was requested. Served fast and ended fast. Cleared plates, brought check. Had to ask if there was a desert menu or coffee available. Have had better experiences at lunch. Best dining view in the city.
Even though it was a cloudy, somewhat muggy summer's day, our group of 4 sat outside under umbrellas on the upper level (the lower level was closed at the time) and were most comfortable. The views from the Severn Inn are always remarkable and this was no exception. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The food is always first rate. You may find the lunch menu a bit limited, but everything is beautifully prepared and delicious! We had crab quiche (2 orders - perfectly prepared), soft shell crab sandwich (exceptional), and a hamburger (well received). The drink menu is far from limited, have your heart's desire! The prices are high (with a glass of wine, my quiche was $32.00), so be prepared. But, this was the second lunch I have had there in 2 weeks and I still return!
Great view of the Naval Academy accross the Severn river. Great seafood and steak. Unique and tasty side dishes like fried green tomatoes and corn salad. Extensive drink menu including signature mixed drinks, various beers and wines
Great service and Sunday brunch is the BEST! Enjoyed the water view!
We reserved for a fabulous Sunday brunch with 6 people. The desk hostess was charming and full of smiles and very helpful. Table we asked for was exactly table we got—right near the beautiful display of raw oysters and large succulent steamed shrimp. The sun was shining in the water and our cheerful super-efficient server brought mimosas and Bloidy Marys right away. That set the tone for the whole birthday brunch; it couldn’t have been better—-food, service, ambiance was outstanding. We will return soon!
Celebrating our 56 th anniversary. Everything was great making it very special. Loved the surprise dessert with candle. Will definitely be back
I found the Severn In to be quite the surprise once I was able to find it in it's almost concealed location right on the water in Annapolis. The environment was calming, authentic, and rustic with touch of up scale dining with a Rockwell like air. The occasion for my dining experience was a "birthday" meal for my spouse who loves crab cake. Needless to say, she loved, and I mean loved the crab cake with fried green tomatoes and corn salsa. For every fork filled bite she ate there was a smile. I had the cheddar and bacon cheese burger that would put many hamburger chains or restaurants out of business if sold untainted for mass production. It was unbelievably moist, smoky, and tasty as hell and served with some well brined board walk like fries. The serving staff was pleasantly professional, attentive, and friendly. As Arnold would say "We will be back".
We were looking for a celebratory meal in a quiet and charming location. The Severn Inn delivered. We thorough enjoyed our meal from palate to ambience. We plan on returning soon!
Last minutes date but we got a great outdoor table. Server was great, food delicious, and view amazing
Waiter was great. View was nice. Kids meal was terrible. Nuggets were so over cooked I could barely cut them. The filet was tender but it sat on a bed of some kind of steak/bbq sauce which to me ruined the flavor. Had I realized, would have asked to eliminate.
Other family members really enjoyed their meal.
The starters seen at other tables looked amazing. If I ever went back I would try the starters instead of the entrees.
Everything was very good, except noise level was very high. Food was excellent.
This is usually our first choice for out of town guests. View can't be beat. Tables are space to allow conversation. Food is wonderful. Service has always been attentive and so nice.
Very ample seating. We requested a quieter location because I'm partially deaf and they accommodated by seating us in a back corner in the third dining room far from the bar. It was great, they even stopped seating people near us and it was really nice to have a nice dinner with great service in seclution. The view of the water and the Naval academy are a relaxing site. Just overall a great location to eat.
I recommend getting all the appetizers.
Had a wonderful birthday dinner with my family. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the crab dip was a treat with homemade Old Bay chips and the crab cakes were enhanced by the mustard sauce. The vegetables were cooked well but were a mix of at least 6 vegetables and it was hard to differentiate them. I have always preferred my vegetables independent. The meal was topped off by the best strawberry pound cake I have ever tasted.
We celebrated our son’s graduation from high school. Perfect place for a special lunch.
All four enjoyed it. Our salads and appetizers were great and large enough that we didn't order entrees.
Quality of food has improved greatly since our last visit. But the prices have grown to a level that demands perfection. Be ready for sticker shock.
Fabulous food. The chef, listed as Nick Baker, is a genius. Local, innovative, tasty.
