Food & atmosphere was great. Our waiter was engaging & helpful. Will be back!
Only the bar area was open, and it was a bit casual and loud. If the dining area closed at an earlier time it would have been good to know, I would have made reservations for earlier. Service and food was great, just wanted a more intimate & quiet setting.
Waterfront views and good food make this a place not to miss in Annapolis!
The weather, view, food, and service was beyond our expectations AGAIN. Love this place for Sunday brunch. And our server, Madeline (?), was excellent.
Wow, what a disappointment! After our horrible dinner experience a few months ago; I decided I would stick to brunch here because it was always good but after today; that is over. Same awful server we had at dinner and he was just as bad. The food has really gone downhill too- I didn’t even get seconds of anything. No labels on anything in the big buffet which was just really weird. Pancakes were dry. Just really not good all around. We won’t be back.
Great food, very busy place tonight. Got neglected on our drinks once the main course came, but not a horrendous oversight.
A good time to have by all. Waiters were courteous and attentive, location excellent, food was good.
Server was quirky. Crab cakes quite good but would be great if menu was expanded. Too limited
The overpricing given the quality and type of food served here presented the biggest problem for me, and it unfortunately tainted my overall experience. Perhaps the owners feel the crazy high prices are justified because they are capitalizing on the waterfront location overlooking the Naval Academy; however, there are many restaurants in this area who seem to manage great food, great views, great atmosphere and great value. I am in no hurry to return.
The fish tacos with salmon was delicious. Of the four members of my group, three of us chose the tacos. We all agreed we made the right choice. The salmon was grilled to perfection.
It was fabulous
It was a lovely day, so the view was much appreciated. Service, as always, was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. My omelet was delicious, as were the cheesy grits.
Over cooked tuna
Disappointing service but good food and outstanding views
I have dined at the Severn Inn for lunch on many occasions and for dinner only twice. The service at dinner was horrible, lunch was not too bad. My first dinner was with a very large party so I was willing to forgive the slow service but the second time for dinner for two, the service was so slow as to be inexcusable. We ordered an appetizer that came quickly but for dinner we had also ordered two appetizers, a bowl of soup and a crab cake appetizer, that took an hour (no exaggeration, I was watching the time). After it had been about 30 minutes with no interaction with any wait staff, I sought out our waitress and had to tap her on the shoulder to get her attention. I asked if she'd forgotten us and she said our dinners would be up soon. Then after another 15-20 min another waitress noticed us looking rather forlorn and she came and asked if we were OK. We explained and she promised to look in on the kitchen. (Maybe she should have gotten the tip!) Our waitress finally came with our food and apologized for the delay explaining that another table had gotten their order in ahead of us. This doesn't really wash as appetizers are supposed to be pretty much ready to go so they can be served quickly. Why did it take an hour to get food billed as appetizers? No explanation other than our waitress forgot about us. Did she consign us to dining hell because we didn't order that much food so the total wasn't worth the potentially small tip?
Maybe the staff counts on the great view to keep our minds off the interminable wait for food? Perhaps the Severn Inn has become a victim of success with more tables than the kitchen can handle. We won't be back for dinner but will give lunch a chance.
Went with a group of eight people who where in town for a family event. Picked the Severn Inn because it has an outstanding view of Annapolis. The food was as impressive as the view. Quality oysters to start and entre's where excellent. Recommend trying the rockfish.
Always an excellent and relaxing view. Cheese board was perfect lunch option although possibly provide a choice for the meats.(would not have missed salami or fig dip, maybe add some olives? fruit?). Otherwise, excellent!!! crab dip excellent . Waitress very friendly and helpful. Just a tad slow on diet coke refill. Otherwise the perfect lunch shared with my daughter.
I recently visited the Severn Inn during lunchtime for the first time to celebrate a friend's birthday, per her suggestion. I ordered the reuben. Much to my surprise, the meat was brown and not the usual red color of corned beef or pastrami. Also, the taste was not the customary reuben flavor. When I asked the waitress about the sandwich, she said the meat was smoked pastrami - the lunchtime menu indicated pastrami. She offered an alternative -- I chose a cheeseburger as a replacement which was okay. My friend had the crab cake which she had ordered and loved on a previous visit. However, this time, she said that while the crab cake was good, she didn't like the accompanying veggie dish which had changed to include chopped brussel sprouts - totally changing the previously wonderful flavor of the recipe,
In summary, the best parts about this visit warranting a repeat visit were (1) the scenic view of the Severn River and Naval Academy, (2) the Sangria (one of the restaurant's specialty drinks), (3) the customer service offered by our waitress, and (4) the complimentary brownie dessert with a lit candle to celebrate my friend's birthday.
Brunch with the family. One of my favorite spots to go to.
Sunday brunch was packed! Very glad we had a reservation. Comparable price to other local buffets, but bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys make it well worth it. Food, as always at Severn Inn, was well above average.
Came highly recommended by friends. Food and atmosphere were great!!!!! Looking forward to returning maybe even a private party.
We had a double date night with friends during restaurant week and it was a good way to taste several dishes without breaking the bank. Everyone enjoyed the food tremendously! Service was attentive as well.
Could not believe how horrible the service was last night. We were bussing our own tables, pouring our own wine and I asked for iced tea 3 times before I got it. Some of the meals were good but the fried green tomatoes had zero flavor (not even a little salt) and the server was just awful. Dinner took almost 4 hours and very few things were done correctly (as you would expect when paying $41 per entree) I love the brunch here but we will not be back for dinner.
It was restaurant week and the choices were all great. Everyone loved their courses. Wine selection was good also. The views are stunning; we will definitely be back when the weather is warmer so we can sit on the deck and enjoy the views across the water.
Restaurant Week...but PLEASE...bring the dishes HOT!
The food and service were excellent. It was the last night of Restaurant Week and the menu offerings were wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant and the very scenic view on the water.
Restaurant week. Wanted to try someplace new. Very nice. Will definitely be back in the summer for cocktails and appetizers on the deck.
My first time at Severn Inn was not the best, food was just OK. I was expecting more from this place .
The Severn Inn is one of my favorites, it has the best view, great parking, quiet and the food is always good. I bring out of town guests there to see the view and it has the best sunday brunch.
The staff was excellent the ambiance of the restaurant was wonderful even at night you could see the water and the bridge from inside the restaurant this is a wonderful place to visit and dine.
Went to the Inn for restaurant week dinner. Excellent dinner at a reasonable cost. Soup first was good. Salmon was cooked (medium rare) perfectly. Dessert was great.
It is a beautiful setting. Lovely views of the water and Naval Academy across the bridge.
Server was knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. Scallops, crab cakes outstanding, and dessert were outstanding. Highly recommend it.
Half and half crab soup and fish tacos were lacking flavor. Crab balls were described as lump and jumbo lump but were either claw or back fin or both. Sangria was excellent, bib lettuce salad was very good. Overall good food and ambiance.
Sorry - not a restaurant for toddlers! Please. The chef made a special vegetarian dish which I appreciated - but they added mushrooms which I specifically asked be left out. A little limited menu.
Great service and view.
We went here for brunch and we were not disappointed! Excellent choices on the buffet, and everything was delicious. The only complaint I had was that the beignets were over cooked. Bloody Mary’s were amazing. I’m sure in the spring and summer the water view is stunning.
We closed down the restaurant on a snowy Saturday. Service was fantastic. We really enjoyed the helpful suggestions from our server and loved every item we were served. Food was really delicious but we didn't save room for dessert. Would be nice to return for a sunny meal on the dock in nice weather.
Non attentive service
Over all good experience. Cream of Crab Soup was not hot and had to ask for sherry. Entrees were good and decent portions. Server was polite and adequate, more of an order taker. I would expect a bit more at a higher end restaurant.
The crab soup had a good amount of crab and the sea bass and the rockfish were both really well prepared. The service was very very good.
I wanted to take my wife somewhere different, we usually go to Ruths Chris or Lewnes Stake house for special occasions. Have always wanted to eat at the Severn Inn but it was usually closed so I thought. To our delight we thoroughly enjoyed the evening, the food was fabulous and the service was outstanding. We will be coming back
