Seven Seas Ratings and Reviews
We have gone here for many years but never on a Saturday night.
We were seated without being provided a wine list which once we asked, was very extensive.
We waited far too long for our server. Once he showed up he was great.
I ordered the Sauerbraten and the meat was very dry and sauce was not very authentic.
My husbands barbecue ribs were also dry.
The Seven Seas has been aa generational pass down for me. My Grandparents (especially my Grandfather) would go out there on a regular basis (60+ years ago). It was the last place I took my Father out to dinner before he passed away and it has been a place my Partner and I have enjoyed many dinners there. We even celebrated his Mother's 90th birthday there with a very large party. The food has always been spot on, with something new always on the menu. I would highly recommend the Seven Seas if this is your first trip to a Wisconsin Supper Club or if you are an old pro. Well worth the visit.
Our waitress was very busy with a big table she was helping with. Because of that it took along time to get our bill and our food. I put on the reservation on line that we had a birthday we were celebrating. If I didn't speak up we would have never had a celebratory dessert. She also said right away not to expect her to sing Happy Birthday. We did it on our own. I would say the waitress was rushed and somewhat rude.
The food was good and the dessert (when I finally got it) was great. It took along time to get the dessert. Almost to the point that we were going to just leave. We also waited a very long time to finally get the check. She didn't check up with us if our food was good and she didn't pick up the money until we were walking out. Our group gets together every Friday for a fish fry. I doubt if the Seven Seas will be part of our rotation of places we go to.
Four things were disappointing about our dining experience. The server never told us the specials, we heard another server telling a different table as we were finishing our meals. The vegetable side was "chefs choice" and it was an odd combination of vegetables that did not play well with the entree. The food presentation and taste did not match the $25 plus entree cost and lastly the tables are very close together so we had to talk over the table next to us.
We went to the Seven Seas for a special work occasion with a party of seven. We enjoyed cocktails on the patio for a half hour before the time of our reservation. It was delightful until we were seated at our reservation time of 6 pm. Once we were seated, the waitress started to take our order. The first person ordered a glass of wine. The next person wanted to see the wine list so the waitress left to get it. Over a half hour later the waitress returned with the glass of wine and we ordered a bottle of wine to share with the rest of the table. She left and a half hour later we got our bottle of wine. She did not return again until about 7:45 when we were able to place our order for dinner. She left to place our order. We waived her down shortly thereafter and requested another bottle of wine. After about 15 minutes we flagged down the hostess to find out where our wine was. We did get the bottle served shortly thereafter. At about 8:15 the dinners, minus one, were served. I did not get my dinner for about another 10 minutes. When I received my dinner, it turned out to be the zwiebel meal not the sauerbraten I had ordered. My dinner turned out to be in front of another person in our party who was not familiar with the dish and had not realized she had the wrong meal. We finished eating about 9 pm and had to flag down the hostess to get our bill. Once we got the bill, it was another 10 minutes waiting, so I finally went to to the front desk to pay the bill. I do not blame the waitress - the restaurant was clearly understaffed. I am incensed that they neglected our party, that had a reservation. NOTE: our bill was $380.00. We previously went here for a party of 14 for my restirement in April, with a reservation, and had a similar problem, with a bill of well over $600 that time.
Had Sunday brunch in early September. Very good service and good food. They offered an omelet and waffle bar and one choice of entree and bacon, sausage, chicken, ribs, potatoes and rolls and muffins were served family style. All were prepared very well. Really nice atmosphere provided for a good brunch at Seven Seas.
This is and has been our favorite restaurant for many years. Food is always wonderful, service is always friendly, most beautiful surroundings, and when we see Mrs. Weissgerber and her daughter, we know all is well. We always miss Mr. Weissgerber and remember our last time with him, he sat down at our table, played the accordion and chatted with our guests who were visiting us from Europe. A year ago or so when my son Tom & Lori who live in GA asked if the Chef would share a recipe with them, they received a letter with the hand written recipe and a few "extra greetings". Thank you to everyone connected with The SEVEN SEAS. We enjoyed dinner a couple of nights ago when the GA son & daughter-in-law stopped on our way out to tell you how they enjoyed their dinners. With our appreciation and love, John & Betty Dewey
For the price I would go to fleemings steak house,Rare steak house or Capital Grill. The steak was ok. Was not a 50 steak by any means. The atmosphere is great. Has the home feel. Steaks came out a little more done than expected. Seems like everything has rosemary in it.
We went here for brunch following my daughter's baptism. We had a party of 12 and had a team of waiters helping us. The food was excellent. The servers were very attentive and brought almost everything to the table served family style. Everyone was extremely impressed. Highly recommend for a special occasion!
We used a very old gift certificate that we found after we had moved 10 years ago. They were terrific in honoring it and the service and our waitress was impressive. Every course was perfectly timed and the food was excellent and perfectly cooked and served hot. We had a wonderful experience there and will definitely return.
The food was good - not awesome, but good and well-priced. Service was very slow, with long waits between drink refreshes. We had reservations for 8. They pushed together 5 large rectangular tables to make a huge table that was far too large and it hindered group conversation. An 8-top or only 3 tables together would be better.
My guest and I had a lovely evening dinner at Seven Seas. Pretty cold inside, so even though it was 7:30 opted for outside table. Wonderful view of the lake. Little surprised they don't trim down or replace the weeds with nice wildflowers along waterfront to improve the view. Impressive wine list and reasonably priced. Had a nice malbec. As we enjoyed our wine we also enjoyed excellent bread and butter. Rye flatbread an unusual and nice addition. We enjoyed the strawberry goat cheese salad with balsamic dressing. My guest then had the pike and it was excellent. I had the wiener schnitzel over spaezle. Outstanding versions of both. Nice servers.
My wife had the special for the day Beef Tournedos (Beef Mandilions) which she said was great. I had the Beef Filet, which was juicy and flavorful (medium) could have been a bit more tender, but still very good. Had a couple very good drinks and an excellent dessert. We were dining a bit on the early side (5:30 PM) so it was pretty quite. Staff at the bar, hostess and waitress all were great.
Some of my displeasure was a clash of cultures. I'm from the south, so in my humble opinion the food was over priced, not very much food for the cost (no alcohol purchased two entrees, and only one of us had a coke and an appetizer was $85), and only decent in flavor. Not $85 decent though. The service (beyond what I believe to be one honest mistake of the waiter) was good and the waiter attentive. It's a place I've put on my list that I recommend to my friends like this, 'it's worth trying once, but wouldn't be my regular spot'.
The food was pretty good, nothing out of this world though. I thought it was a little expensive for the quality of food. Our server was fantastic, very attentive and friendly. Our biggest complaint was that there were two weddings going on while we dined, one upstairs and one downstairs. So we heard the loud wedding music throughout our dinner, which was rather annoying. It was kind of hard to really enjoy the experience when the bass was thumping all night.
Beautiful location and view of the lake. A quaint building and grounds with an interesting history. Table settings very nice with yummy bread basket. Unfortunately the entrees were very poor quality. My salad was limp with many brown pieces and the shrimp was cold even though it was supposed to be hot. My companions meal ... chicken .... was tasteless. Servings were lunch size - even though we were there for dinner. I recommend this for the location and view but the food is disappointing.
